Maybe a white elephant currently. But, one can see that the line was appropriate, for there appears to be a defunct industrial area along this line that likely served the many workers that were employed there in the past. Now, that whatever industry is dead, there is nothing serving this tram line, lacking commuters with very sparse tram traffic. Nevertheless, the tram route is very interesting (got to see much, plus loiterers at some stations and riding along sidewalks) and enjoyed the video much, in addition to keeping the very few tram drivers employed at the least.
At the time of filming, the Métro Leger de Charleroi carried 8.5 million passengers a year. The most recent number I can find is 2019 where it had dwindled to 5.6 million. It is worth noting that the number of inhabitants of the city was stable in this period (around 200k). I cannot find any recent passenger numbers, only a statement from the TEC (company in charge of public transport in Wallonia) that says that the number of passengers has stabilised to the number before the Covid19 pandemic. The network was originally envisioned to be a network of 8 lines, but only 4 were built with the fourth one never even being operated. Now in 2024, they have started to renovate the fourth line and they are even completing it, albeit via a new route.
What's the deal at 13:25? It doesn't look like it's a building that's in the way, more like the foundation of a (removed) bridge? Can't they tear the obstacle down?

It's an interesting cycle ride through a post industrial landscape though. I've done it once or twice.

It's a metrotram (tram underground)
