The Brussels Tram Route 7 - Whole Tramline

  • The Brussels tram (or streetcar) system is a transport system in Brussels, Belgium. It is one of the ten largest tram systems in the world, carrying some 123.5 million passengers in 2012. In 2016, the Brussels tram system consists of 17 tram lines (three of which - lines T3, T4 and T7 - qualify as premetro lines). As of 2011, the tram system's total route length was 138.9 km (86.3 mi), making it one of the larger tram networks in Europe. Its development has demonstrated many of the quandaries that face local public transport planners. The Brussels tram system also has a number of interesting peculiarities.
    The Brussels premetro- and tramline 7 connects the stop Vanderkindere in Uccle with the stop Heizel/Heysel in Laeken, where connecting services of tram 51, metro 6, bus 84 and bus 88 depart. The colour of the signage for this line is bright yellow.
    This line was formed on March 14 2011, to replace tram 23 and tram 24. Tram 23 followed the same route, as well as tram 24 between Vanderkindere and Princesse Elisabeth/Prinses Elizabeth, where it deviated towards Schaarbeek railway station, 1 stop further. Together with tram lines 3 and 4, it is one of three 'chrono' lines, which means that this line is served with low-floor high-capacity trams with a high frequency. The line number was therefore also altered to line 7, which shows that it is either a metro line or a chrono line.
    Route:
    Heysel/Heizel - Centenaire/Eeuwfeest - De wand - Araucaria - Buissonets/Braambosjes - Heembeek - van Praet - Teichmann - Princesse Elisabeth/Prinses Elizabeth - Demolder - Hôpital Paul Brien/Paul Brien-ziekenhuis - Louis Bertrand - Héliotropes/Heliotropen - Chazal - Léopold III/Leopold III - Meiser - Diamant - Georges Henri - Montgomery - Boileau - Pétillon - Hansen-Soulie - Arsenal/Arsenaal - VUB - Etterbeek Gare/Etterbeek station - Roffiaen - Buyl - Cambre-Étoile/Ter Kameren-Ster - Legrand - Longchamp - Gossart - Cavell - Churchill - Vanderkindere

    So nice to see how part of the landscape it looks - not over engineered and left green. We in the UK have much to learn and show our H&S people just how much out of touch they are. Impressive underground stations - we could do with some of them!

    A beautiful city - wide boulevards. Historic architecture everywhere . A pity that the city centre is underground but c'est la vie! Thanks so much for posting. I haven't seen the city from the tram before.

    For 1 year and a half I used to take this line from place Meiser to VUB.
    Then for another year I used to take this line but the opposite direction from Bascule to VUB (and back).
    If I wanted to visit the Atomium, I would take line 7.
    Tramway 7 was one of my best friends in Brussels, always by my side. :P

    • @zeser5230
      @zeser5230 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's actually the terminus of tram line 3, where the trams turn and thus don't change track (which would take more time and obstruct tram 7 (and tram 7's terminus is actually one stop further (Vanderkindere) than this one (Churchill)).

    schone route. al zegt het mij niks. desondanks heb ik ook al dikwijls de tram in Brussel genomen. die ook in Heizel begon maar die ging richting Centraal station en ging na een tunnel op zo draaischijf om vervolgens de andere richting uit te gaan. ik dacht dat da Tram 3 was maar ben niet zeker, overigens wel apart dat deze tram niet langs Koekelberg gaat want zover is dat niet van Heizel.

    Though this tram's route is very nice and scenic, i noticed that it is far from dense populated areas and it is too slow due to the many stops (every 400 - 500m maybe). Does the cost of building this line justify it's usefulness (in terms of passengers using it?) or the majority still uses their cars to commute, in the serving areas?

    • @tutoriel1000
      @tutoriel1000 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Manpet Epetrop trust me that line is crowded during rush hour but Brussels has half a million commuters comming from other regions at that time but almost no one during the day and the weekends so the same line can have 3 people in a giant tram and 30 minutes later 300 all leaving the city

    • @VinceBulte
      @VinceBulte 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      On rush hours these 43 meter long trams are full and they operate almost every 5 minutes. It starts at the Atomium, one of the main touristic spots in the city, passes by Docks, a big shopping mall, then continue in the very dense part called Schaerbeek, continues as a underground section between Schaerbeek and Etterbeek, crosses metro lines at 2 points, serving the main universities VUB and ULB and ends in a very dense part of the city at Vanderkindere.

    • @Andrew-jv7tc
      @Andrew-jv7tc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Riding this tram at rush hour was always a nightmare for me. The beginning is less dense because it passes through some of the main touristic/park areas of Stad Brussel, but once you hit Schaarbeek and the Prémetro line, it gets crazy. Pretty much the only stop that ever gets skipped is Heliotropen and is a rare occurrence. My stop was Chazal and even for a stop bordering Parc Josaphat, it was a crowded stop.

    • @annadibath

      It was meant to be pulled down after the Expo, just like the Tour Eiffel in Paris, but the public liked it and it stayed. It is actually quite large and you can visit it inside. Some of the "beams" are fitted with escalators and some of the orbs contain the origial futuristic science displays - now charmingly dated...

Не понятно какое время суток, но рейс по этому маршруту не эффективен и не рентабелен!

      It's taken from Wikipedia about that very tramline, but article of Metro explains it better:
      The premetro network consists of three tram lines (T3, T4, and T7) that partly travel over underground sections that were intended to be eventually converted into metro lines.
