A beautiful city - wide boulevards. Historic architecture everywhere . A pity that the city centre is underground but c'est la vie! Thanks so much for posting. I haven't seen the city from the tram before.
So nice to see how part of the landscape it looks - not over engineered and left green. We in the UK have much to learn and show our H&S people just how much out of touch they are. Impressive underground stations - we could do with some of them!
For 1 year and a half I used to take this line from place Meiser to VUB. Then for another year I used to take this line but the opposite direction from Bascule to VUB (and back). If I wanted to visit the Atomium, I would take line 7. Tramway 7 was one of my best friends in Brussels, always by my side. :P
Yes, it's actually the terminus of tram line 3, where the trams turn and thus don't change track (which would take more time and obstruct tram 7 (and tram 7's terminus is actually one stop further (Vanderkindere) than this one (Churchill)).
It was meant to be pulled down after the Expo, just like the Tour Eiffel in Paris, but the public liked it and it stayed. It is actually quite large and you can visit it inside. Some of the "beams" are fitted with escalators and some of the orbs contain the origial futuristic science displays - now charmingly dated...
It's taken from Wikipedia about that very tramline, but article of Metro explains it better: The premetro network consists of three tram lines (T3, T4, and T7) that partly travel over underground sections that were intended to be eventually converted into metro lines. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brussels_Metro
Hello, Thank you! No, I'm not a tram driver myself, but I asked if I can put a camera into the cabin and he agreed. Earlier I recorded the same route as side view, but POV is far better! Here's the side view version: th-cam.com/video/1D57EEOYpOY/w-d-xo.html

As a Brussels citizen, I am disgusted and ashamed at the sight of the tram sites which are littered with garbages and weeds that are only cut by the passing trams. Brussels remains one of the dirtyest city in the World, I guess. So much for being the Capital of Europe! Our politicians keep saying it's getting better, but I can tell you it isn't. And you can wittness it with this video which is recent.
Though this tram's route is very nice and scenic, i noticed that it is far from dense populated areas and it is too slow due to the many stops (every 400 - 500m maybe). Does the cost of building this line justify it's usefulness (in terms of passengers using it?) or the majority still uses their cars to commute, in the serving areas?
Manpet Epetrop trust me that line is crowded during rush hour but Brussels has half a million commuters comming from other regions at that time but almost no one during the day and the weekends so the same line can have 3 people in a giant tram and 30 minutes later 300 all leaving the city
On rush hours these 43 meter long trams are full and they operate almost every 5 minutes. It starts at the Atomium, one of the main touristic spots in the city, passes by Docks, a big shopping mall, then continue in the very dense part called Schaerbeek, continues as a underground section between Schaerbeek and Etterbeek, crosses metro lines at 2 points, serving the main universities VUB and ULB and ends in a very dense part of the city at Vanderkindere.
Riding this tram at rush hour was always a nightmare for me. The beginning is less dense because it passes through some of the main touristic/park areas of Stad Brussel, but once you hit Schaarbeek and the Prémetro line, it gets crazy. Pretty much the only stop that ever gets skipped is Heliotropen and is a rare occurrence. My stop was Chazal and even for a stop bordering Parc Josaphat, it was a crowded stop.
There are announcements every station, but played in the passengers' section. Seems like driver's cabin is well silenced. You can actually hear those on that video: th-cam.com/video/1D57EEOYpOY/w-d-xo.html

What a beautiful tram route! Love how the tracks blend in with nature.

Beware or they'll eat your kids!!
An interesting route - a mix of tram, light rail and subway function. And a beautiful city! I appreciate the trees.

Soon in Athens. Athens Tram will be underground in a part in its extention to Perama town! I am looking forward for this 😃
Beautiful place and road scene ❤
50:30 Is that a tram _roundabout_?
Yes, it's actually the terminus of tram line 3, where the trams turn and thus don't change track (which would take more time and obstruct tram 7 (and tram 7's terminus is actually one stop further (Vanderkindere) than this one (Churchill)).
In Antwerp we have only tram roundabouts. We have doors at only one side of our trams.
Wow 50:05 a traffic circle the easy way or maybe the hard way
I Almost know every of these places how? you Might ask Beacuse I live in Brussels Belgium :D
Well done! Keep up the good work!
@0:46, what is that series of orbs connected by small beams?
Architectural, decorative, or have a purpose?
The atomium it's a giant aluminium atom made for the 58' universal expositions it's purely architectural and touristic it has no real purpose
It's the Atomium, made for the 1958 World's Fair
It has a purpose since it hosts events and expositions :)
Was the tunnel meant to be continued in 11:08 ??
That was just a short one, the premetro tunnel you mean starts at 24:15 -> th-cam.com/video/MoPBANJY_qA/w-d-xo.htmlm15s
Yes, I can see that. But I'm interested in that short one exactly. Tram goes into tunnel then strong curve right off some kind of entrance..??
Are you able to film any more tram cab ride videos, or do you have any planned please? Thanks.
30:15 - tram emerges from underground.
Were these Bombardier (3000 series) trams?
4000, the same as the 3000 but a bit longer
Awesome video
Gothenburg also has amazing tram routes
Agree a nice fast tram route - A little long to view in its entirety
1:1 with live route.
Would love to see the rest of the lines!
Thank you! But I don't live in Brussels anymore..

Is Wattman driving ?(those not familiar with Willy and Wanda/Spike and Suzy/Suske en Wiske or the Belian name for tram driver probably won't get this)
What do you mean by "premetro"? Where line T3, T4, and T7 originally meant to be metro lines?
It's taken from Wikipedia about that very tramline, but article of Metro explains it better:
The premetro network consists of three tram lines (T3, T4, and T7) that partly travel over underground sections that were intended to be eventually converted into metro lines.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brussels_Metro
The north-south line (Trams 3, 4, parts of 51, 81, 82) will actually be turned into a metro in a few year's time

Why does this team go so slow when it is in a protected area with no pedestrians or cars??
It makes sharper turns, thus it must slow down when going through Laken and the royal parks.
You forgot Bascule between Legrand and Longchamp 🙂

One of the dirtyest cities in the world? N'exagérons pas!
I guess you've never been to London.
You should see how dirty is New York City
The problem with Belgium in that regard is that everyone says that someone else has to do something, nobody feels responsible...

Thrust me, this tram is one of the most useful trams in Brussels! Everyond knows this line!
Why does the tram stops so much at junctions? Why doesn't the controllers of the junctions lights give the tram a yield sign? Really frustrating
There are not station announcements or we just do not hear ones ?
There are announcements every station, but played in the passengers' section. Seems like driver's cabin is well silenced.

Splendid Brussels tramline 7 video indeed, but unfornately sound and picture do not match at all....

Awesome video though I cant stand the graffiti all over the walls
Incredible amount of graffiti in Brussels's tram system. I'm surprised.
More like street art, often! Sometimes they make the journey more interesting, don't you think?
Why? Because only "vulgar" Americans do things like that? Europeans are too sophisticated?
Anna Beria No.
@@annadibath A lot of that stuff I wouldn't categorize as "art" though. Smearing some random shit on walls is vandalism, not art.
