Thanks for answering my travel question!
No worries!
safe travels Buddy.
Thanks, will do!
Yep, I am flying Miami to Tortola tonight. The down side is the late flight back to MIA which causes an overnight layover. Love the videos.
Sounds great! Thanks for watching
My wife the Eye Care Specialist says your glass fit well and they look great on you.
Lol. Thanks!!!
Love your videos. will be back down there Nov 8-16. Keep up the great work
Awesome! Thank you!
As a first responder, we say 'copy' on the radio all the time. It's an acknowledgment of the information. Have fun on your next adventure! Since my Twins were beat, go Rangers!
I agree, being in the same profession as you, ‘copy’ means acknowledging information given to you. Love your channel, we’re looking forward to your next episode.
I’ve chartered in the BVI years ago and loved it.
Next is getting my own boat but hitting the Great Loop and Bahamas.
Inspired!!
Perfect!
Love watching your videos. You help keep my motivated to restore my 43 Post. Looking forward to one day in the not too distant future to having our own adventures. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
We had dinner this May at Potters and our dingy was missing when we returned to the dock. Mr Potter was kind enough to help us find it. Great people in Anegada.
That happened to us once! People take the wrong dinghy all the time. Usually they’re drunk! He’s a great guy!!! Thanks for watching
I saw the boat yesterday in the BVI, leaving nanny cay
Radio and say hi next time!
Great to see you back skipper 👍
When's Ronny coming back though?
Captain Ron has a big fan club in England! 🇬🇧😂
Hah. Can’t get him to stop working!! Thanks again!
Love your oven, hood and backsplash…..
Thanks!
i know you have briefly covered Navionics in the past. Is this your primary method for navigating the BVI? Would you consider doing a short tutorial on how you plan a route from one island to another? it would be much appreciated. We have a first BVI charter Feb 2024! Thanks
The BVI will welcome you back ! I lived / worked in St John , you should consider highlighting some of the local businesses there vs just showing drinking , eating and partying . Human interest stories are amazing .... love your channel 🎉
Thank you!
I can wait for our charter 11.18 - 11.25. Your videos are just what our group needed for tips/tricks!
Thanks so much
My parents had a 44 defever - chartered all over Bahamas. Grew up lobstering, boating, spearfishing. Your videos are EXCELLENT - congrats on your new health endeavors as well! You have inspired me. We are great family friends of Bryce (season 22 winner) working on planning a trip to BVI's and doing a bareboat. Do you have any new events planned in 2024 - as you did with the grand re-opening event in 2023? Keep it up Hillbilly - you have a great following and fan club out here. Cheers!!
Love Bryce! Yes, I will be appearing at the Miami Boat Show on Feb 15 and will have the first Hillbilly flotilla last week of October. Details to come!
@@thewanderinghillbilly on it like a fat kid on a donut! Missed Miami boat show last year - will make it this year. Cheers
Welcome back and can't wait for the fun adventures.
Thank you!
Glad you are back! Missed your humor and points of interest, I am moving in the direction of where to move next, BVI vs Bali, hmm, you are making it harder to decide. Thank You Alan.
Sounds great!
FYI you can also fly to San Juan and then fly direct from San Juan to Tortola
Yes you can! Thanks for watching
Smart move leaving California. You sure don't hear of anyone moving there anymore. Great vid. and look forward to the new season!
Thank you
Great to see you back Alan with another great video. My wife and I bailed on the order of a FP MY7 as we decided we’re not quite ready for that adventure. We chartered last July for nearly three weeks. I captained a FP MY6 from Virgin Charter Yachts which was a great experience but we walked over to check out the Aquila and wow! FYI, American started daily flights direct from Miami to Beef last June. Worked out great until the trip home when the airport fire team decided to go on strike. Yup, they timed it perfectly just after the flight was enroute to maximize their mission. The flight diverted to Puerto Rico. But after a four hour delay all was resolved. Heading back in June for three weeks. We hope to meet you. We pasted and waved last year heading in to Norman. Keep on keeping on! BTW, this will be our fourteenth trip over the last 17 years!
That’s amazing! Thanks for watching
Excited as always for your upcoming trip down to the BVI. Don't forget to fly that Rangers flag for luck! Go Rangers!
It’s flying!
How about them Rangers! Congrats on your team winning the world series. Life long Phillies fan so I wasn't the happiest I could have been but it was nice to have a rooting interest with the Rangers.
I would’ve loved Rangers/Phillies. Next year!
The Voice?!?! How did I miss that.......🤦♂My wife watches all the time! I'm always out on a mountain bike after work, so I'll give her all the credit there. I watch here at work or in the evening whilst sipping whiskey. Hey, that's my comment! (5:40) Like always, another great video....cheers! 🍻
Thank you!!!
Started watching your videos to get Exuma ideas many years ago. Chartering was a bucket list idea we are going to fulfill in 2024! Will have 3 kids (16,12 and 11)- what would you change/ add to your itinerary if traveling with kids? They love snorkeling, cool spots and beach bars like Chat n Chill.
Your kids will love it. No changes. Thanks for watching
We will be in the BVI’s on a Sunsail catamaran charter INSPIRED BY YOU. from October 27 to November 5. Hope to see you out there on the water! A-A-Ron
Aw am leaving on the 27th! Darn. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching
Hello! So glad you are back, we have been watching you from the beginning and you have answered a lot of questions for us. We have a 44 we keep in ST Pete. We’re new boaters since Jan 2023 and you give us confidence. We haven’t made it to the Bahamas or BVIs yet but hope to eventually. In one of your videos you installed cameras, I can’t find the video. Can you tell me what system you installed? Thank you so much. We love when your new videos come out! Go Rangers!!🎉🎉 win #3 tonight!
I used Arlo cameras. And am now replacing them. Do not recommend
@@thewanderinghillbilly Thank you! We definitely won’t go with those! What brand are you going to go with next?
Another great video. We are coming to Tortola in Dec Jan and Feb thanks to you. Have you ever given any thought to creating a Wandering Hillbilly Burgee as merch. Would love having two for our boats on Lake if the Ozarks in central MO and flying one on our 443 Aquila charter in the BVI. I fly my Marinemax burgee but would rather have a Hillbilly one.
That's a great idea!
Hey Alan, I'm about 2 weeks behind watching vlogs so I'll watch this later. I just wanted to congratulate you and your Texans for making it through another round in the playoffs. Good luck with Houston. I'll bet Texas is going crazy. Too bad they are in the same League. Talk later!
Thank you!
Just watched to nights game 10-19.I hope it gets better.@@thewanderinghillbilly
Great comments. I hope to meet up with you if you can make it to the Soggy Dollar Wednesday October 25th from 8am-1pm. Love to talk our careers in broadcast television and your great videos. I'll buy the painkillers. Cheers, Greg "Sea Dog".
Haven’t planned this one yet. But I’ll let you know!!
Cool. And I thought you had gone hollywood and given up boating
Never
Philly has direct flights to St Thomas
Yes! Thanks for pointing that out!
Okay, I am slow but wouldn't your transition from California to the BVI be more direct without the move to Nebraska. Hope there isn't anyone's poor health involved. Blessings and thank you for the almost eternal sunshine you exhibit. Both in your enthusiasm and your locale.
NEVER GO DRY!
Just exiting Cali in general except for work and family.
@@thewanderinghillbillyyou are not alone in exiting CA. I live in east TN and I personally know 7 families who have moved here from CA in the last 2 years.
Just wondering if when deciding to buy the 54 did you consider the 70. I would guess the thought would come up but my question would be would the major factor have been only price or just the fact that the 54 offered what you were looking for so there would be no reason to go bigger? There are certain features on the 70 like the dingy launch that I think are superior to the 54 but then again a 70 may be much more difficult to captain. I appreciate any feedback you would like to provide that doesn't get to personal ie finances. Thanks and keep up the GREAT work!!!!❤❤
70 is just too big . I wanna be able to captain and do things myself with my guests. And…it’s like 3 million more. So, no thanks. But thanks for watching
@@thewanderinghillbilly Thank you for the reply!! Before I found your videos I'd never considered a Catamaran but watching them has brought Motor Cats into consideration for me in the future.... Whenever my stocks do what I think they will!! 😄😄
Would you recommend MarineMax ownership program?
Loaded question. If you don’t want the bother of real ownership and only want to come down when there is allotted time, then yes. You can’t really personalize your boat tho. And you can’t go wherever u want. So those are the differences. Thanks for watching
How does boating in the Virgin Islands compare to the Bahamas/exumas ?
We have done the exumas a lot, and love it.
I’m just more comfy down here. Don’t have to worry about tides and shallow water. And I enjoy the locations down here more. It’s a personal choice
You know that Hurricane Season runs through mid November, right? (Not that Mother Nature pays any attention to that....)
Well I have to work in November so damn it all…let’s go!
Heading to BVI in May for the second time. This time I'll be the captain!! The first time I went was in late October, any advice for a May trip, are any anchorages a no go in May?
Great Videos, I have learnt a lot from them.
Everything is open in May. Good to go! Thanks for watching
19 more days until our voyage around the BVI!
Yay!
joke ''Roger/ Willko & Out ''
Right?!?
@@thewanderinghillbillyI don’t know why some think you should use strict military radio protocol. It isn’t like someone is targeting your position based on a transmission.
Just got back from the BVI on Oct 14th. Sorry we didn’t get a chance to meet you. Maybe out next trip. V/R Crew de la Framilia.
Thanks for watching!
