    I've been wrestling with this because a person who looks up to me wants me to Baptize him. I'm in the process of getting my Bachelors in Biblical Studies, but I have never preached, never given a sermon, and am only a recent convert to Christianity. But he still wants me to Baptize him. Thank you so much, this was what I was looking for.

    I'm watching this because we baptised someone in the bathtub last night and it was amazing! Judging by the comments, there is a lot of misunderstanding about what it means to be in the family of God. Church tradition has greatly shaped our mindset rather than the word of God. Do you think church is a building you can go to rather than something you are? Also part of the problem. Do you look to pastors as the final authority rather than the chief shepherd and cornerstone Jesus? Again part of the problem (see Matthew 23). There is no such thing as being "ordained" to baptise nor laity and laypersons in the body. Are you born again and mature in the word and discipling someone through showing them how Jesus lived? Then baptise people.

    ¿Philip a regular guy? 😮😮
    Philip was one of the 7 deacons who were selected to take care of the Greek speaking widows (acts 6:1). Philip was not a regular person, he was respected and full of the Spirit and wisdom (acts 6:3). This “well respected” is a reference to what Paul says to Timothy about decons (1 Tim 3:8). They had to had certain qualifications: “Before they are appointed as deacons, let them be closely examined. If they pass the test, then let them serve as deacons.” 1 Tim‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬.
    Philip was ordained for the ministry by the laying of hands: “These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them.” (‬6‬:‭6‬). After the persecution in Jerusalem began, Philip went to Samaria and preached Jesus and performed miraculous signs “Many evil spirits were cast out…And many who had been paralyzed or lame were healed.” (Acts ‭8‬:‭6-7). Even Simon the sorcerer was amazed by the all the signs Philip performed (acts 8:13), that should tell you Philip wasn’t a regular guy.
    Philip baptized, but notice that the apostles had to come from Jerusalem to laid hands on people so they can receive the Holy Spirit (8:14-17).
    Furthermore, Philip received direct messages from God, “an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert…(8.26). The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go and talk…”(8:29).
    He was able to teach, he taught the Eunuch (acts 8). Philip was snatched away by the Spirit (8:39). Philip preached in every town (sounds like an evangelist) acts 8:40.
    Summary: Philip was was qualified, was examined and was ordained for the ministry of deacon. He was a evangelist, teacher and performed many signs. Received direct messages from God and was snatched away by God. He baptized as a deacon but the apostles had to come so that people received the Holy Spirit.
    Philip a regular guy? The Bible says no.
    PS: where in the Bible there is a case of a “regular guy” baptizing someone in the New Covenant? .

    Not just everyone can baptize, you must have the Holy Spirit just like Philip, or John Baptizing Jesus. Mat 28: 19 Jesus told the disciples to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Don't forget the Holy Ghost (Spirit).

      there are certain restrictions, for example, Women are not allowed to preach in church or have a ministry, a woman can teach in sunday school, or children, a woman cannot teach men, I therefore take it a woman can not baptise: 1 tim 2:12 ""I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent." God, through the apostle Paul, restricts women from serving in roles of teaching and/or having spiritual authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors over men, which definitely includes preaching to them, teaching them publicly, and exercising spiritual authority over them.

    • @simplysimona4562
      @simplysimona4562 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Bible doesn’t say woman couldn’t or could baptize. We all share in the same Holy Spirit and Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Things should not be done if there is a law against it and there is no command or law saying woman should not baptize. . There are however things a woman should not do when it comes to roles. She should not have authority over a man,she should not be a preacher in church.

    I want to be sure so don't take this as a contradiction to you, this is a sincere search for truth. In Luke 6:13-16 the Bible lists all that Jesus appointed as his 12 disciples AND his APOSTLES also. Very clearly, Philip being one of them. You stated in your video @1:57- 2:10 that Philip was NOT an apostle. Is the one who baptized the eunuch a different Philip than the one whom Jesus appointed as disciple AND apostle in Luke 6:13 & 14?
    Luke 6: 12-16:
    12 And it came to pass in those days, he went forth to the mountain to pray, and was passing the night in the prayer of God,
    13 and when it became day, he called near his disciples, and having chosen from them twelve, whom also he named apostles,
    14 (Simon, whom also he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
    15 Matthew and Thomas, James of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes,
    16 Judas of James, and Judas Iscariot, who also became betrayer;)

  • @Solideogloria00
    @Solideogloria00 ปีที่แล้ว

    The great commission in context: Yes, the authority comes From Jesus but it wasn’t given to anyone. There is an established order in God’s church.
    Jesus didn’t give this authority to all of his disciples. He could of but just gave this authority to the 11 apostles (who were especially call for a special ministry): “Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.” Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭16‬ ‭
    The apostles did appoint other leaders for the ministry such as deacons (acts 6; 1 Tim 3) who were qualified to teach and baptize..
    Reas what the primitive church wrote about baptism.
    Please don’t deceived people teaching false doctrine.

    This is misleading - Philip was ordained - I agree he was not a pastor, but he was given a place of authority (Acts 6: 5-6). Philip was not simply an ordinary man with no official office in the church - he was a deacon. Also, if you look through the New Testament those who you find baptizing are those ordained to an office in the church. What will not find is someone without an office in the church baptizing.

    And to the narrator of this video, YOURE DEAD WRONG LIKEWISE!!! Phillip was not a normal man, FROM A AUTHORITATIVE PERSPECTIVE. Phillip was ORDAINED of God. To be able to baptize, you must be ordained of God and have his Spirit. We can go to where John baptized Jesus, and go to work on the scriptures. Not any man was qualified to baptize Jesus, John was PREPARED FROM BIRTH to suffer it to be so. John was BORN WITH THE HOLY GHOST. So if a man doesn’t have the spirit of Christ and ordained to minister, I wouldn’t let him put me in the water, much less baptize me. Folks, it’s a lot of false doctrines out here, and if you are not careful AND KNOW THE SCRIPTURES, you will be deceived. I say this with all humility brothers and sisters, but this teaching is not right at all!!!

      WRONG, you do NOT, I repeat you do NOT have to be ordained by God or the HS, to baptise, you don't even need to be saved, although that would not normally happen. ANY CHRISTIAN and follower of Christ can baptise

    • @AdrianJayeOnline
      @AdrianJayeOnline 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      your view probably comes from the RC church that states "In the Latin Church of the Catholic Church, the ordinary minister of baptism is a bishop, priest, or deacon (canon 861 §1 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law), and in normal circumstances, only the parish priest of the person to be baptized, or someone authorized by the parish priest may do so licitly" If there are no pastors, or church leaders like an elder or deacon, then there is nothing wrong with another believer who has already been saved (and baptized) to baptize another person. There are always exceptions and since there is no direct command about who among believers cannot baptize, we cannot forbid those who baptize who are not ordained.
