I've been a believer for a while but never thought I needed more than professing my faith and Bible study. Today I saw 3 videos that stated I needed to be water baptized, Now I have a great urge to!

      The Word “Baptize”:
Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text. Based on the above, what is the one baptism of our faith found in the passage below? How many times is the word "Spirit" found in the passage, and how many times is the word "water" found in the passage?
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
      Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
      Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

      Commanded by Christ
      2. Great Commission
      Matt 28:18-20
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
      II. Church age:
      1. The first recorded Gospel Sermon:
      Acts 2:37‭-‬38
Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
      2. The Samaritans conversion.
      Acts 8:12
But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
      III. Individual conversions
      1 . Simons Conversion
      Acts 8:13
      Simon
himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.
      2. . The conversion of the Eunich
      Acts 8:36‭, ‬38‭-‬39
And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.
      3. Paul's Conversion
      Acts 9:18
      And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;
      Recount of his conversion
Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’
      4. Cornelius Converted
      Acts 10:48
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
      5. Lydia Converted
      Acts 16:15
And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.
      IV. Other Churches
      1. The Corinthians
      Acts 18:8
Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.
      2. At Ephesus
      Acts 19:5
On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
      3. Paul recounts this conversion.
      Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on his name.
      Acts 22:16 ASV
      V. Baptism explained in Epistles:
      1. Puts us in Christ
      Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
      2. Burried with Him.
      Romans 6: 3-4
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
      3. Saves us
      I Peter 3:21
Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
      4. All put into one body.
      1 Corinthians 12:13
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
      5. Washes us in the word.
that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
      6. Born of water physically then Spiritually
      John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. & Titus 3:5- he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Water and Spirit baptism are two parts of the one baptism that saves us.
Our repentance is completed by being water baptized.
During water baptism in, the name of Jesus Christ, and because of the shed blood of Christ, the Holy Spirit remits our sins by circumcumcising our conscience, removing the guilt from past sins, and returning it to the original sensitivity to sin we had as children.
This is the " washing of regeneration"( Tius 3:5)
The Word regeneration defined means to return something to its' original state.
This is the type of the old covenants cleansing of the temple with water and blood in preparation for the Spirit of God to inhabit it. The temple for us as believers is our bodies.
In Hebrews the writer speaks of the blood of bulls , under the old covenant, as being insufficient when it came to removing consciousness of sin. Consciousness of sin is guilt. It takes the shed blood of Christ during water baptism to remove guilt which remission of sins is.
The name of Jesus Christ called over the baptismal candidate is vital because, being part of the bride of Christ, when his name is called over it we take on His name in the same manner as when I bride is asked if she agrees to take John Jones as her lawfully wedded husband and she says yes. Her family name is now Jones.

Baptism is only symbolic, you are ONE with Christ death as you go under the water, and then you are ONE with his resurrection when you get out of it.

I'm just reading what the Bible says and this is the example given. There are at least three separate passages that say "when you were immersed", x, y, and z happened. They don't say "when you believed".
      Rom 6
      Col 2
      Gal 3
Acts 22:16 "be immersed and have your sins washed away". The allusion to water is not an accident. Sure, it needs to be done in faith and the act itself does nothing, but action without faith is exactly what the Pharisees were doing, dead works (Heb 6)
Works without faith = dead works
Faith without works = dead faith (James 2)
      They always go together.
I suspect that immersion is the sign of the New Covenant. There is always a cost and a sign or representation of the Covenant. With Noah, it was the rainbow. With Abraham and Moses, it was circumcision. What are the cost and sign of the New Covenant?
If a man wasn't circumcised, he was not a part of the Mosaic Covenant no matter what their mouth said. Is immersion into the name of Jesus the sign of the New Covenant? Is this why EVERY time someone in the NT believes the Good News of the Kingdom, they are immediately baptized?
In the Mosaic Covenant, if a Gentile wanted to become part of God's people, the men would be circumcised and washed in clean water, a Mikveh (or river or pool), and when they emerged, they were in every respect an Israelite. The rabbis had a term for this, "born again". Nicodemus knew exactly what Jesus was referring to when he said "born of water" in John 3.
This is something we do not read in the NT. "Can I be immersed now?"
"Chill out, Dude, we'll do it next week".

Peter compares baptism to Noah's flood. In that case, the earth was fully immersed. When it emerged, all of the unrighteousness was gone. "The old had gone. Behold all things had become new". Sound familiar? It's a picture. As Peter says (1 Peter 3), "and this (the flood) prefigures what saves us now, the immersion of regeneration." Only if conducted in faith though.

    Thank you for the teaching.
Please, help me understand your opinion about the ‘NICENE-CONSTANTINOPOLE CREED’ where it states near the end:
“ I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. “
What is your conviction on this statement?
    Full statement here:
    I believe in One God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;
    And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all worlds; Light of Light, Very God of Very God; Begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man;
    And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried;
    And the third day He arose again, according to the Scriptures;
    And ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father;
And He shall come again with glory to judge the quick and the dead, Whose Kingdom shall have no end.
    And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the Prophets;
And I believe in One Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
    Amen.

Baptism is more than a symbol; it remits our sins. Peter told the crowd in Acts 2 to be baptized in the name of Jesus FOR the remission of sins. Therefore, our sins are not remitted if we've not been baptized in His name. Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:5 that a man can't enter God's kingdom unless he's born of the water and the spirit. I do agree with you about immersion. The full plan of salvation is repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38)

@@antoniordasilva3177 Hey, well I’m asking because some people baptize and only say “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” and they never actually say a name. But Acts 2:38 gives a name. That name is Jesus, Jesus Christ. The name Jesus must be said in baptism because that is how a person is saved, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved Romans 10:13. And the Apostle Paul was baptized and Ananias command Paul to call upon the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
So Matthew 28:19 talks about the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost and Jesus commanded his disciples to baptize people in that name. And Acts 2:38 was that actually being fulfilled and we see that the name is Jesus Christ. That is the name that saves. Saying “Father, Son, Holy Ghost” is not saying any name. The name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus, Jesus Christ. Jesus got his name from his Father.
      Hebrews 1:4
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”
The name Jesus must be said during baptism so a person’s sins can be washed away. Baptism saves. Acts 2:38 says it’s for the remission of sins. Remission means forgiveness. I was baptized when I was a young child and the man who did it was actually my great grandfather but he only said “Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”, he never actually said the name that saves which is Jesus. So when I was 18, I heard the gospel and realized by the grace of God that I needed to be baptized correctly. I hope this makes sense. It’s contrary to what is taught in a lot of denominations, but it is the truth.

      Acts 9:18
      And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;

Why? Because it is wrong. You cannot use one single verse of scripture and make a doctrine out of it! The bible must be interpreted by using scripture with scripture. Incidentally even the Greek ὄνομα there, name, is singular, not plural.

I believe God will be pleased by a baptism "in Jesus' name" or 'the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.' I don't think he would be pleased by arguments to toss out clear Bible verses.

[20] Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. [21] Then all who heard were amazed, and said, "Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?"
Saul was baptized, but the people found out about his conversion to Christ through his preaching, not his baptism. Baptism's purpose to them was not a public confession of faith. That proposed purpose for baptism didn't exist when the Bible was being written, as reflected by the fact that there's no mention of it. It's completely a modern-day church driven idea, repeated so much that it seems valid, but only because it's repeated so much.

This is Believer's Baptism - not Adult Baptism. The person is showing what has happened to them. If someone is "not ready to be baptized" then that means it would be nonsense as they are showing something that has not happened to them. It would be like having a coronation service for Charles before the Queen dies - Charles does not become King until the Queen dies.

No scripture says baptism is a symbol, identification, representation, illustration, or the like. The language of Rom 6 and Col 2:11,12 is that baptism causes you to "participate" in Christ's burial and resurrection - if you read these passages literally. The language of these and other passages is that in baptism, "something happens" in you. In other words, a miracle happens in baptism. The reason for this is that you are "baptized into Christ" as Paul says in Rom 6:3. Without explaining what this phrase means (probably assuming everyone already knows), he goes on to apply it to what happens to you because of it. When you read everything that happens to you because of this "baptism into Christ" you will see that everything that happened to Christ beginning with his death, happens, or is applied, to you. So his death, resurrection, and ascension is applied to you. In particular, in his resurrection, you share in his new life and receive a new life yourself - another term for this is "regeneration."

Correct Amen. Baptism is that we are repenting from our sins by knowing the Truth, JESUS CHRIST and the Love of the Father through His Son Jesus Christ by knowing the Word Of God.Then it comes on the Baptism of The Holy Spirit Which is very important in our lives as the promise of God Almighty Abba Father. For Kids and children I believe they are not matured enough to know the reality and seriousness of sin so how its possible to make them repent for their sins by their own self by taking the decision for the baptism because Jesus never said go and Baptise the children or kids or never red in the Word the Baptism of Children, Because it took me almost 33 years to understand the seriousness of the sins even so many times I have to struggle and fight hard against the temptations from this world but by the Grace of Jesus Christ I don't lose this battle He makes ne overcome. Hallelujah.
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. So this is not just an act of flesh but its all about our new birth, new inner man and woman from their spirits. The old died with Christ and the new person resurrected from His death with the Christ and lives for Jesus and in Jesus. This is the fight against the Satan and sin which every believer has to fight. No one is perfect and anyone can fall in to the temptation and can commit the sin but thing is there is forgiveness in Christ Jesus if we repent and be careful for the next time and mostly people win this battle against the sin and Satan through Christ Jesus Who strengthens us in our journey. Hallelujah. Amen. Every one is free to take their decisions I am not here to criticize or to judge others just tried to share what I understand as a believer.
God bless you brother exceedingly abundantly in every area of your life in Jesus Precious Name Amen.

Now, this is what you need to know, Baptism is an act in which one has to be conscious, and with mental, physical, and spiritual alacrity. As an infant, you weren't mentally, physically, and spiritually ready for it, it was done because of some belief system at that time which was inconsistent with Scripture. One of the aspects of the baptism of John was to present the basis of repentance. Question, at infant did you repent of your sins?

Baptism does save you. It is an appeal to God for a good conscience (meaning the receiving of the Holy Spirit)
While belief in Christ is mandatory, if you believe in Christ as your master, then what He stated baptism is for, is what it is for. Mark 16:16. Acts 2:36, etc..

Then after truly repenting , you may be baptized ( which is an act of obediance ) to recieve forgiveness of your sins AND the gift of the Holy Spirit being "Born Again" The bible requires all 3 to be saved, DO NOT be decieved that "faith only" saves you !

      Acts 9:18
      And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;

Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
    Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
    Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

      @SpotterVideo, So just ignore?
Acts 8:36-39 Now as they went down the road, they came to some WATER. And the eunuch said, "See, here is WATER. What hinders me from being baptized?" [37] Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." [38] So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the WATER, and he baptized him. [39] Now when they came up out of the WATER, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.
Acts 10:47-48 "Can anyone forbid WATER, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" [48] And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
This passage establishes that baptism in Jesus's name is in water.
So baptism in Acts 2:38-39, Matthew 28:19 & it's counterpart Mark 16:16 are in water. 1 Corinthians 1:13 & Acts 18:8 then are in water. Acts 8:16 is in water. Acts 19:2-5 is in water. And Acts 22:16 is in water. Since this baptism in water is in the great commission, then there is strong weight that whenever the apostles and company are baptizing people, it's in water, which makes baptism in Jesus's name in water viable in Ephesians 4:4-5.
But don't do a "comprehensive" New Testament study on baptism, just leave out "all" the post resurrection passages that speak of baptism in water, and thereby make it look like only "Spirit" baptism existed back then. This is a common practice.

Matthew 10:32-33 doesn't say this is baptism. It just says to acknowledge Jesus in front of others. If one stands in the town square and talks about Jesus and says I'm his follower, that scripture is obeyed. There's no baptism in that passage. It's only that this belief system has chosen, on its own, to assign baptism this purpose.
Acts 9:18-21 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. [19] So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
In the Bible, acknowledging Christ before others was not the purpose for baptism.
There is nothing in the Bible that says baptism's purpose is to symbolize, illustrate, express, make a statement of, or publically declare the death, burial, and resurrection.
Pastor Rick doesn't present scriptures where it is written what he said. He filled it in himself where the scriptures did not say. One cannot go to the Bible and find written these points that he made. The Bible does not "read" like the grace alone, through faith alone sayings on baptism. What's "written" in the Bible sounds completely different, as with the case with Saul above.
What he said about immersion was spot-on, but it would have been nice for him to share some scripture references for that too.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
      Matthew 28:19-20evangelismlearningHoly Spirit
And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
      Romans 6:3Jesus
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body-whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free-and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.

And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

Past sins are only cleansed once a person by faith submits and completes a baptism in water for the remission of sins, Acts 2:38. Go back and re-study just baptism. One is not a Christian prior to being baptized. Sins must be cleansed before one is a new child of God. The blood of Christ touches each new obedient believer through the faith act of baptism. Colossians 2:11-12. It’s very simple pastor that is unless if your afraid to teach the truth possibly losing members of your congregation.

I was also Baptized in Jesus's name. My mom was baptized in the name of Jesus's name in India. Do not ever baptize in Father Son and Holy Spirit. use the name JESUS. AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS? I came out of the water as light as a feather, my mom was healed, my cuisine was delivered from alcohol, and 100 examples I can give you.
Never deny the name of Jesus. When I pray, I let them know " I am going to pray in Jesus's name and Lord Jesus will heal you". Because there are so many so-called gods and goddesses in this world. Author Elizabeth Das.... 1 I did it His Way (in many languages) audio and ebook available. 2 Daily Spiritual Diet.

MARK 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION !!! Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Where does Roman’s 6 say anything about water? Answer… it doesn’t!!
Water baptism was John’s baptism for repentance unto the remission of sins ( mark 1:4). This is the baptism Peter talked about in acts on the day of Pentecost!
There are many different types of baptisms . It depends on who is doing it and what the medium is. Jesus was baptized into pain and suffering…. Was water involved? He also baptized followers with the Spirit! Did He ever use water? No not once!! This is exactly why Paul said he was glad he didn’t baptize many( water)
The baptism talked about in Roman’s 6, gal 3:27 is literally the Spirit of God making His home in us( putting Christ on like a garment) it does not involve water… Christ( the anointing )is the medium!
The reason your preach the doctrine of baptism this way is because you run away from what repentance and it importantance and place . Unless you repent ( turn from sin) first… you cannot be a disciple. The Spirit will NOT inhabit an unclean vessel ( 1corth6).
You cannot be a sinner and be saved ( found nowhere in scripture) there is zero… nada … none … scripture saying “ Jesus on the inside working on the outside “!
Instead you find jude4, 1 corth 6:9-10,2corth7:1, Romans 6:1-2, 13:14, gal5:19-21,eph4:31,5:3-4,col3:5-9, Titus 2:11-12,1 Peter 1:13-15… practically every book in the Bible tells us to do this … repent( quit sinning) and be obedient!( deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him)!!
But sadly most will skip these… say something like “ that’s impossible “ or “ you’re trying to save yourself “! You can’t quit sinning( which is crazy… you chose to sin… choose to stop!)

i have always loved listening to Nick but on this issue, i disagree with you sir. i always feel sorry when i listen to this kind of message from people you expect should know better. baptism is a non essential and of no importance apart from being used to identify jesus by John. If not, why would jesus be baptized when he does not need to repent of any sin.. the baptism we receive of jesus, not of john anymore, is spiritual and john even alluded to it at the introduction of jesus. everything we do as christians is spiritual. physical baptism was just symbolic until after death and resurrection. In Christ, we do not pursue shadows. remember the story of the thief on the cross with jesus. many things to say on this but no need of wasting time unnecessarily.
