    Thanks Bud for discovering & showing how to install new sensors that work well with SmartThings!

    Never heard of these, but that footprint and cost is very tempting!

      That’s exactly what compelled me to take a closer look. Hey, I see that you’re on camera now in your videos. That’s great! Nice to attach a face to the BTG name.

    Hi, thank for the video, one question: do I need a smartthings hub to connect it?
    because I have this sensors and I cant connect non of them.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. This sensor requires either a SmartThings or other ZigBee compatible smart hub. I recommend the SmartThings Version 3 hub which can be sourced via Aeotec. You can find a link offering a 10% discount in the comments below my video. There’s also a link for the Aeotec hub on my Amazon store as well.

    Hi, thanks for the video, i have the linkind mini hub and door sensors, is there a way to use the sensor status (open, close) as trigger? My main platform for smarthome is Alexa Echo 4th Gen.

    • @danielramos8805
      @danielramos8805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be more specific, i am looking to create a routine at night so Alexa can confirm the door sensors status (open or close) as part of the good night routine.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Daniel. If your Alexa device has a Zigbee hub then you could ask Alexa to discover devices to get it paired. Once paired, you could write a routine by selecting smart home and find you linkind sensor in the list to use it in the routine. The only issue is that you may need to unpair it from the linkind hub to be able to pair it with Alexa. SmartThings has a built in interface with Alexa and when you pair a device in SmartThings it pairs with with my echo devices.

    Thanks for the video. I can not get my sensors to pair with my SmartHub. I have to hold the reset button down for 8 seconds to get them to flash, but they are never discoverable in the app via Bluetooth. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, about ready to send them back

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matt. Try to do a factory reset. You do this by holding the pairing button down for at least 10 seconds. After that try to pair the device. Wait at least one minute to see if it connects. If it does then follow my instructions in my video to update the Device type from ‘Thing’ to ‘SmartSense Multi Sensor’

      @@BudsSmartHome unfortunately, that doesn't work. I am using the aeotec smart hub as I couldn't find the Samsung version anywhere on the web. I also have the latest smartthings app on my iPhone which looks completely different than the one in the video. It does give me the option to " scan for nearby devices" but nothing shows up. Bluetooth is enabled on the phone and in the Smartthings section in Settings. The Sengled sensors work great on the other hand.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. I do have it working on my hub. The Aeotec hub is identical to the former SmartThings v3 hub. Aeotec is now making all former SmartThings hubs and devices.

    I bought 4 of these sensors and have been very unsatisfied with them! The 2 issues I have are that they go offline for no apparent reason and if the hub looses power they will stay offline even when the power returns. They do reset if you open/close the device but that’s hard to do when your not home!

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bbataan - there have been several times where my hub has gone off-line due to Samsung updates and I’ve never had these contact sensors go off-line. My experience has been very good with these devices. I’m sorry to hear your experience has not been as good. You may want to try to disconnect your hub for 10 to 20 minutes until you get notification that it’s been disconnected. When you plug your hub back in it should create a new bridge for your Zigbee devices and eliminate the issue you are experiencing.

    At 6 minutes, you change the device for in the IDE. For the new SmartThings Connect app, any thoughts on how to change the device type?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jack. I’m confused by your question. What is the “SmartThings connect app.” to which you refer? If you’re trying to change the device type handler within the SmartThings phone app, this is not possible. You need to log into your SmartThings account on a computer to make the DTH change.

      @Bud's Smart Home Automation. I am using Samsung's new version of SmartThings, called Connect versus the previous SmartThings Classic version. Samsung has eliminated Groovy to edit IDEs, but now has a beta version called Edge, which may eventually solve some of the issues with the newer SmartThings Connect not having an IDE editor. Thanks for the input and I think my understanding of the currently supported Samsung SmartThings as I outlined above is correct.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Groovy IDE at account.smartthings.com is still active because Edge is still beta and not officially released. Did you try the above link?

      @@BudsSmartHome I just bought an aeotec nanomote and it works great as a small zwave remote to give to friend to housesit or tradesperson while I am away. It Can go on a keychain and is rechargeable too. With 4 programmable buttons.and 12 scenes. Just what I was looking for and great alternative to a keypad. Not using voice control which wouldn't be safe either. I have also programmed two if the buttons to arm disarm a panic mode .

      Chris - You need to login into your SmartThings account using the name and password that you used when you setup your SmartThings App. The login screen can be found here: Link to the SmartThings Account IDE: graph.api.smartthings.com/

    There was a new interface implemented for smartthings, and you can no longer edit the device type, so I see no way of getting these sensors up and running in a similar fashion to the video. Linkind has also been bought by another Chinese company, and it appears you need to buy one of their hubs to get this connected now.

      According to the SmartThings Community, you can get it working with the “Zigbee Contact Mc” driver. There is the Driver channel link: callaway.smartthings.com/channels/c8bb99e1-04a3-426b-9d94-2d260134d624/hub/021bd119-740d-4ad7-b37c-fd74eb108294
