Often, great beauty can come out of very trying situations. Peter Meechan dedicated this reworking of the middle movement of his Cornet concerto, Milestone, to his friend Ryan Anthony following his diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma. Ryan went on to found Cancer Blows, a foundation to help raise awareness and funds for the victims of cancer. With this in mind, a more uplifiting ending was composed, and the movement was retitled from “Song,” to “Song of Hope”

Souvent, une grande beauté peut provenir de situations très éprouvantes. Peter Meechan a dédié ce nouvel arrangement du mouvement central de son concerto pour cornet, Milestone, à son ami Ryan Anthony suite à son diagnostic de myélome multiple. Ryan a ensuite fondé Cancer Blows, une fondation pour aider à sensibiliser et à collecter des fonds pour les victimes du cancer. C'est dans cet esprit qu'une fin plus réjouissante a été composée et que le mouvement a été renommé de Song à Song of Hope.

Beautiful. I had the opportunity to hear Ryan perform this for the first time at Cancer Blows, and two more times live. This is a great recording that he would applaud, as well as I do.
