I find it interesting that Jane Birkin had moved to France and lived there for years without speaking a single word of French, but she would eventually record an album with her common law husband that is totally sung in French.
She learned French at school.

She recorded over eight albums all in French, they are incredibly beautiful, especially 'Babe Alone in Babylone' and 'Amour de feints'. She still records today and has many wonderful songs which are very iconic in France.

I saw her in Charles Degaul Airport in Paris many years ago .. she was alone with her bags ... she looked happy and beautiful wearing a hippy jeans and pullover..

The notion that she did not know French before filming Slogan is always stated but not correct. In her book 'Munkey diaries she describes learning French at school and spending months in France as a teenager in French immersion.
If she had gone to Hollywood in the sixties instead of Paris she would undoubtedly been a megastar.
She did go to Hollywood and didn't catch anyone's eye, lol.
