josh imatorbhebhe is a wide receiver for the jacksonville jags and hasn’t had any nfl stats yet but was okay in college racking only 2 catches for 11 yards at usc in 2017 but showed up at illinois in 2019 and had 33 catches for 634 yards and 9 tds but in 2020 only had 22 catches for 297 yards. and 3 tds.

The easiest thing to learn. I was able to dunk at 1.75 as a 14yo with 1 year of practice.Now at 1.83 I outjump the rim easily. Vertical jump is practice, practice, practice.

The first guy floats for moments because he utilizes the momentum of his big arms. It takes some coordination but it works like magic. I sometimes manage to do this when I jump for a block playing volleyball and my friends just go nuts haha

+PBasketball 39 inch was at the time of the draft, he was 18 years old, and them he worked for this vertical. in the video that i posted gerald stay in the air for exactly 1 second, with thi date we can calculate the height of the jump with the science. h=t^2*1,226(constant) =122,6cm = 48,5 inch in a game, without the coordination to catch the ball and the fatigue of the game i think that can add 1,5 inch more
+Ace Jumper Ill be honest that I don't know his vertical, but you would have to also take into account the opposite force as he tugs on the rim. the equation would get a lot more complicated.

First guy is a magician. Floating in the air
josh imatorbhebhe is an insane athlete but it's wrong he has a 47inch standing vertical. In this video the angle creates the ilusion but the front view recordings reveals he is just above 40 inches (still fuckin impressive).
But much more important is the way they are measuring it, with that type of platform that measures your "air time" and some kind of logarithms transforms that time in height. Thats ok, the problem there is his arm swing that makes him literally "levitate" for miliseconds. Those milisecons he is "staying" at the same heigh are added on the platform calculations and creates the fake 47inches.

Actually his vertical is measured by the pad he is standing on. It measures the time the athlete is off the ground and uses that to calculate the height. The thing in the background is just for aesthetics.

(also, it pretty safe to say that had Holm been jumping for Cuba in the early nineties he too would have reached those heights. Just like Armstrong, Lewis, Johnson, Flo-Jo and all the other "super athletes" before the advances in doping detection.)

Actually Javir Sotomayor has the World Record in high jump, not Stefan Holm
holm has the best differential
Sotomayor is really tall. This ia about the highest vertical leap. We need to know how many inches from starting each man can get their pelvis, for example, above the starting point. Do, if Sotomayor's vertical leap is 48 & Holm's is 49, Soyomayor could still HJ 8'0.5" while Holm does only 6'11", for example. I didn't try to make it incredibly accurate, but you get the idea. It's like comparing the dunking ability of Michael Jordan (6'6") to that of a man who is 6'0". The shorter man may outleap MJ by a few inches yet still have noticeably less dunking ability. It's analogous to comparing the HJs of Sotomayor and Holm. One leaps better but still is hindered by being shorter.
Back in the day there were two great high jumpers who were short, 5'8".5'9', Franklin Jacobs and Ron Livers. Although Jacobs was short he said in SI he could hit his head on the rim. They both high jumped around 7'5". Jacobs succumbed to knee injuries.

High jump is not about the height of the top of the head, or the feet, but the height of the center of gravity. So, while Sotomayor is 6" taller than Holm, his center of gravity is only around 3" higher. Since Sotomayor jumped 2" higher than Holm, Holm got his feet about 1" higher off the ground than Sotomayor.
Sometimes it is hard to tell though, I am 6'4", with a best jump of 7' 1.5"(2.17). There were other jumpers I competed against who were shorter than me, and had longer legs. Those shorter jumpers with longer legs weighed less than me and had the same center of gravity; that sucked.
Another thing of note, since Holms center of gravity standing is about 2"11", his feet are around 59" off the ground when he high jumped 7'10.5"
The first has a great vert but he used two techniques to help him. First he did a little hops step before jumping and Second he used the wind mill - both added about 6-8 inches.
