As a carer for someone with Dementia, i learned nothing from this video. What are you trying to sell? A book? Medicine? An exercise regime? A dietary regime? A lifestyle recommendation?
ThisUserName15Taken - thank you for your reply. I apologise for being so negative. I think my frustrations come from the fact that there is no cure for people with advanced stage dementia. Yes, we can talk about prevention through having a mentally stimulating career/occupation/hobby, taking plenty of exercise, eating healthily etc, but for people with Alzheimer’s disease / dementia, the hardest part is trying to encourage them to exercise, eat healthily, when it is outside of their comfort zone.
@@stevehutch But that's not an excuse for 'giving up' on them. Even if it only helps them to dress themselves in the morning and improves their Activities of Daily Living, which might help them avoid the need for Institutional care...It has to be worth trying....

@@stevehutch in another podcast with Dr. David Perlmutter he discusses reversing ALZ/stopping the acceleration of ALZ. I’m a child of an ALZ parent who was also a carer. It’s not a simple fix but improving health & gut microbiohome is a start. It’s more info than I had 10-15 yrs ago.
I share your frustration. There is nothing concrete that he ever says that you can definitively process as an actionable treatment to reverse dementia and I’ve listened to him drone on for hours in videos. Everything he suggests is common sense and largely ineffective. Exercise, reduced carb intake, Keto diet, plenty of sleep, Lion’s Mane, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Coconut Oil, MCT, Infrared light, etc. My mom does it all and none of it has worked.
He has some good interviews on youtube that are probably even better than this talk. The one with Mark Hyman is pretty good (and he's more relaxed in it too!)
I don't get it. There are people that live to be 100 yrs old and never took one vitamin in their life or gone to the doctor and did not get dementia. I guess everyone is different
I believe lack of sleep has ALot to do with it. My mother was active All way to her early 80’s Always watched what she ate. She Still developed Alzheimer’s. My mother did Not sleep well
Maybe I'm cynical, but if this approach really worked, I feel like we'd be seeing major publications in medical or public health journals -- trumpeting this guys successes. Please prove me wrong, but this looks like a way for a guy to make money rather than a proven scientific cure for a tragic disease.
There isn’t much money to be made from a diet and supplements though. There is no money in cures. And I’m not saying this is the cure, but it seems to be a lot more effective than the drugs out there used to “treat it.”
He has published papers on it. Now it's my turn to be cynical: there is not much money in treating people with lifestyle changes and a bunch of supplements that cannot be patented. There is, however, a lot of money in coming up with single-pill "cures" that are supposed to fix years of neglect, lack of physical activity and a diet littered with junk foods. By the way, I wonder if the use of many drugs doesn't do more harm than good because it absolves people from making real changes to fix the first cause of their disease. For example, someone taking a ton of meds for heart disease, but not dealing with his obesity. Yes, he knows he should, but because he takes his meds, he sees it as optional. In reality, it should be the other way around: first a diet, then meds as an option. I seriously think that we would see better outcomes if lifestyle changes were REQUIRED for meds to be prescribed. No weight loss, no meds. I'm aware of the ethical issues it creates and I'm not sure if I would support it, but it's good to think about, even if only as a thought experiment.
Feels like a promotional infomercial, not a Ted Talk. I feel all I learned was that "we" have figured out Alzheimer's (with our proprietary undisclosed protocol), so... come on in and buy now?
Keith Beyerle, Read his book ‘The end of Alzheimer’s’ which explains everything very clearly if you want to follow it on your own. There are many other very informative (albeit with much more technical jargon) interviews of him on TH-cam. This theory makes so much sense as currently there is no hope whatsoever for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Watched my father go through it and now my mother starting to as well. So I was extremely interested in his theory and read his book, now I hope that I may be able to keep myself from getting Alzheimer’s one day.
Def. recommend his book and this protocol! It is not a quick fix, so takes time to delve into it. Lots of good info out there now to help people along these lines; just have to be willing to learn and spend time working on it.

wish this was longer
He has some good interviews on youtube that are probably even better than this talk. The one with Mark Hyman is pretty good (and he's more relaxed in it too!)
Do these treatment results mean that the fraudulent AO proteins study has no effect?
I don't get it. There are people that live to be 100 yrs old and never took one vitamin in their life or gone to the doctor and did not get dementia. I guess everyone is different
I believe lack of sleep has ALot to do with it. My mother was active All way to her early 80’s Always watched what she ate. She Still developed Alzheimer’s. My mother did Not sleep well

"AllTimers" disease. Really? Hard to hear him repeatedly call "Alzheimer's" "AllTimers".
You need to get your hearing checked.
B doug, Histionic Personality Disorder & OCD & nitpicking? The above advice will help for that too.
And I’m not saying this is the cure, but it seems to be a lot more effective than the drugs out there used to “treat it.”
you are cynical..

Lol everyone recommending you buy a book like that makes it less of an infomercial.
Watch some of Dr. Bredesen's more descriptive videos on this as they definitely provide as much information as one could ask for on this topic and the broader role of functional medicine in treating cognitive decline.
