We only plant a bushel to the acre so tonnage wouldn't be there . On most years that we have put corn in after taking a crop off the yield on the corn silage is so much less it does not pay to wait on the corn to get a crop off on our ground anyhow. The rye is more more a benefit to the soil and for erosion and actually we grow better corn silage when we have a cover crop.
