    A couple of simple tips for any video where the presenter talks fast or goes fast when showing how to do something on screen are: 1. Go to the Settings icon which looks like a gear and change the playback speed to .75 of normal. This slows everything down without too much distortion; 2. Use the left cursor or arrow key to back up 5 seconds. You can push it multiple times to back up further so that you can re-watch a bit that you didn't quite understand.

    I live 20 minutes from the Superstition mountains and loved seeing you do work on a photo I've taken many times. Thank you again for not only showing us what you do but explaining it in easy to understand language. I would have never thought to add a color swatch over the top and now it makes total sense. My father was a profession at a University here in the states. He always thought through telling a story and you do a bit of that as well. I've never been able to load my camera profile or even know where to obtain them. If that is something simple please show us in the future. Much appreciated!

    I agree with those who have requested you to slow down in your presentations. Many of us are amateurs and are not as gifted to the use of tools that Neo has to offer. I like the way you do things and your suggestions are very useful for those of us getting to know this piece of software. Thanks for slowing it down.

    I wonder what make and model of camera Fran has? If it's a bridge or compact, the small sensor will produce noise even when using a low ISO. Crop APS-C cameras are more prone to noise. Some cameras have noise reduction built in (Both my Canon 80D APS-C and Canon 5D IV Full frame have a 'long exposure noise reduction' mode. Just a thought Anthony! Regards from Felix the Cat. 😺

    G'day Anthony
    I reckon that you have 'hit the nail on the head' with this edit mate.
    I was wondering if HDR was used for the Milky Way, would you have got more definition?
    Or if the Milky Way was Topaz Denoise and sharpened and save it as a Tiff and do the HDR then.
    I would assume that you have tried this method before.
    Anyway mate havagoodone.
    Greg

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Greg. It's very possible and probable merge to HDR would have improved our editing options even more. But I'm aware that I've done quite a bit on HDR recently and not everyone has adopted the new plugin so I kept it to the basics for this one. I like the way you're thinking with the creative problem solving!

    • @gregorychard
      @gregorychard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnthonyTurnham that is what I thought about you not using HDR. But it's a great plugin, I think I'll be using it most of the time.
      Would you do the Denoise and sharpen before doing the HDR or afterwards?
      It would be interesting to see if there's a difference.

  • @aqpark

    Really like the edit and your "slowed down and simplified" approach. Interesting to see use of a colour swatch to bring in colour harmony. I think that would be a good topic for a future video (i.e. in more detail - Neo tools vs. a colour swatch overlay, etc.). Also... CAMERA PROFILES 🙂 Oh, yes - thanks for bringing in the Topaz tools. I have older versions and need to use them more. Thanks for an example of how - also the fact you used at end is interesting because I think Topaz Help says it's best to Denoise before rest of edit. Thoughts?

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋 thanks for the feedback and video ideas. Yes, denoise works great at the front end, however, I really wanted to work on the raw file for more latitude with the edit and also adding Topaz as an optional extra as not everyone is fortunate enough to have it.

    • @aqpark
      @aqpark 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnthonyTurnham My mistake. I said Denoise recommends use at beginning of edit. It's actually ON1 NoNoise that I have and that recommends running it at start.

    Hi Anthony this video is long but very interesting. I see you used at the end Topaz tools which are great but a little expensive to add for a non professionnal. Do you think the additional but cheap de noise and super sharp Luminar modules can do the same ? Thx for your advised feedback back.

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alan, the profile would allow better, more accurate colour rendition. The lens info, and correcting of the potential issues should be passed to luminar via the raw exif data. The lens correction option should then be able to sort it out.

    I love your videos!!
    New to Neo. Just brought it for my pc laptop.
    Im a bit disappointed. My mouse cursor input is slow and laggy.
    When i use the mask, it has a major delay from when the input is made to when the mask is applied on screen.
    When i move fast, the red masking line is trailing inches behind the mouse cursor.
    Do u experience the same issue?

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. It can lag for me at times. Occasionally I'll have about 7 or so apps open, Luminar, Lightroom, a screen recorder, Adobe Premiere etc. All pulling system resources and it can hen show a delay when painting masks. The more ram 🐏 and processing power you can send Luminar's way, the better it performs.

Or should I just ignore AI now. BTW, I love what you've done in this video. I have DXO PhotoLab 5, also with it's DeepPRIME, excellent denoise software.

    • @AnthonyTurnham

What I should've made clear was that that I actually paid for NEO at the same time, just that it was only the beta version at that point and didn't download it until the initial release came out. So now I've been using NEO longer than AI, and therefore wondered if I should continue to keep it installed. Ah yes I forgot about the Clone and Stamp tool, although it is often just used to erase and NEO's Erase tool is pretty good.

    Hi Anthony! I have just finished looking at your video on Fran's night sky photo and thanks again for highlighting the limitations of Luminar Neo (which also applies to Luminar 4 and Luminar AI). Topaz AI software is excellent for reducing noise and blur. Why don't you make some videos on using Topaz AI software? One more criticism of Luminar Neo, is the inability to use outside plugins without first having to save and close your file. Yet, Luminar 4 allowed me to do just that, open a third party plugin without having to first save and close my file. Come on Skylum, bring back the ability to use third party plugins, like Topaz AI without first having to close Luminar Neo to open Topaz. Regards from Felix the Cat. 😾😾

    Why spending money, you can fix this in photoshop or affinity photo.
    You can change the sky from pale gray to a beautifull dark magenta gradually to dark black.
    How, using curves, the thing is to explore your tools, also, before fixing in photoshop, adjust your camera for a better frame.
    Remember, curves is the magic tool.

      Thanks for the comment, but I'm not sure about your "why spend money" comment? Photoshop isn't free?

    In the other news: O.M.G. That was master class. I've only been really working on my photography and editing for a couple years now - mostly when I'm on vacation! - and my tendency is to just push all the buttons. I REALLY appreciate the step-by-step approach you're showing, and also how much you do with the most basic tools in the box.

      Hi Oscar. Try changing the playback speed. 0.75x or 0.5x. You find that in the video settings by clicking the little cog in the bottom right.
