Just watched the cider bottling video and then re-watched this video. You make it look so easy, I might try to make cider next year. I tend to make crumbles with my apples. Question about the alcohol content, if you wanted a higher % of alcohol do you just put in extra sugar? Great how to video Gemma 👍
In previous years I have made crumbles which is why I thought I would try something different ☺️ yes that's right you add more sugar to get a higher alcohol content 👍🍻 Thank You for watching ☺️
What a fantastic idea for all those apples! Looking forward to seeing the end result. Also such a great video on explaining the steps and what you have used ❤
Wow looks like the family should have a very cheerful holiday season with malt cider, etc👍🏻👍🏻. Love watching all the adventures you try with your harvests💕💕
Really enjoyed your helpful video! I planted two cider apple trees in my garden two years ago so hopefully in a few more years I'll be making cider too. Very satisfying I reckon!
Hi David, Thank You for watching, I'm glad you found it helpful! It's very satisfying, you're right, hopefuly you will be making yourself very soon! Take care 😊
You make it look so easy. I am making apple wine with apples from an orchard , many have imperfections so I have do a lot of cutting out . I use an electric juicer to get the juice, it takes hours. Your instructions are very good.
This was briliant Gemma! I have one or those fruit presses, i use it for my grapes to make wine! Great arent they! I cant wait to try some of this cider 😉😂 thanks! Danny 🌱
Hey Gemma, That was a fantastic video. You showed all the steps from beginning to end. I have never seen the crusher you used before. I do have to ask did the wooden bar you were supporting yourself with your left arm while cranking included or did you make it. I really enjoyed how you explained the steps as you went. I have not seen someone use a hydrometer before. Thank you for a well done video. Take care, Steven
Great video. A friend invited me over to do this last year. We were four people spending a whole day to make 20 some litres of apple juice and cider. It was a lot of work, but a fun project to do with someone.
I purchase ten bushels from a rural orchard to get a good price. That produces 25 gal of juice. 20 gal gets fermented and five gal gets given away as fresh juice to those who help me. We make a whole day of it called Cider Day. Lots of fun, food, and drink. I use a sink disposal as my crusher. The kids run that. The adults cut the apples, and we use round aple slicers to cut them into wedges. Each year there are always "first timers" and it's great to see their reaction to tasting the fresh pressed juice.
I love the sound of Cider day! Such fun! I think I will copy that idea from you ☺️🍻 it's great to all work together isn't it 😀 Thank You for watching ☺️
Thank you for making this video. We took on our first allotment plot this year and have 2 massive apple trees, we already have a freezer full of crumbles, this looks like a great idea. Could you please recommend a place to buy the equiptment and yeast? Thanks

Can’t wait to see the taste test, are you going to make spiced cider at Christmas?
That's such a great idea, yes I think I will 👏
Great video, have my own batch going. Questions, you didn't use Campdon tablets to kill off the wild yeast or did you? Is the update coming soon? 😀
Thank You 👍 we didn't add any campdon tablets, as it was pretty clear already 😀 we have just bottled the cider so the next video will be out Friday! 👍👍 Thank You for watching ☺️
Great video! Enjoy the fruits of your labor! Question, could the crank handle be taken off and a hand drill used?
Thank You for watching 👍 I think it would be possible with an SDS drill on a chuck, I think we may actually try it that's a great idea! Thank You! 😊
Did you put water in the airlock? and does the red cap stay on
@JesterEric yes water goes in for the Airlock and yes the red cap stays on 👍
You could make apple cider vinegar with some of the leftover scraps.
That's such a great idea! Thank You ☺️
Gem you are the coolest where can I get all this stuff in Canada ?

@GemInTheGarden Thanks Gemma are you from the UK?
@redsresearch yes I am, London 🇬🇧
@@GemInTheGarden Nice I would be to if my grand parents didn't move to ontario, maybe I come visit you sometime
Those apples look a bit like Bramleys.
Thank You, that's really helpful as I had no idea, just that they are the cooking apple type 👍
So they make juicers now.
They sure do ☺️👍
