To clarify about Dragstrip's vehicle mode - yes, it is a Formula 1 car. It's specifically a Tyrrell P34, a special 6-wheel car designed by the chief designer of the Tyrrell Racing Organisation. It was mainly made as a 6 wheel car due to regulations regarding Formula 1 cars. The regulations at the time said that the front wing (the slope at the front of the car) could be no more than 1.5 metres wide, but in order to fit in all the complex car stuff at the front like the steering mechanisms, the pedals and suspension plus the driver's legs and feet needing to fit there too to operate the pedals and so on, it meant that the front tyres poked out beyoned the wing. So the Tyrrell designers were like "hey, we could just use smaller tyres so that they stay behind the wing", since by doing so this would reduce drag, increase speed and allow more air flow to the rear wing (the spoiler at the back). But, the tyres were so small there wasn't a big enough contact patch between the front tyres and the ground - so they simply solved this issue by having 4 front tyres instead of the usual 2. And it was somewhat successful - in the 1976 Formula 1 championship, the car performed very well, with two P34s coming in First and Second place in the Swedish Grand Prix that year and one P34 coming in Second place at the Monaco, British, German and US Grand Prix races too. However, the car had many issues - due to the small front tyres, the car would struggle on bumpy and twisty circuits as it could lead to one of the front tyres touching the road but the other front tyre on that same side not touching it, leading to less grip and the car being harder to drive. Then in 1977 some changes were made to the design leading to the P34B - a wider and heavier car that was nowhere near as good as the original P34 from the season before, though the exact reasons why are up for debate - Tyrrell blamed the issues on weight while others blamed the tyre company Goodyear for not making sufficient front tyres for the car. Regardless of this, by 1978 Tyrrell would stop its 6 wheeled car project and by 1983, the Formula 1 rules had changed so that all cars MUST have 4 wheels - no more, no less. Despite its short career however, the Tyrrell P34 is still a bit of an icon due to its unorthodox design and its appearances in media such as it being Dragstrip's vehicle mode plus the car appearing in a couple of anime and the amazing 2013 movie Rush, which told the story about the rivalry between the drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt during the 1976 Formula 1 championship.
That's what I figured, considering Dragsters Tend to be Super Long and narrow. Man you know more about that one car than I know about the Transformers. And being "Somewhat Successful" is Damning with faint praise if I've ever heard it.
@@mikathomo391 all of them are at current prices 20 dollars for each except motor master who basically is the entire combiner with out the armor so I think it’s pretty fair
Here’s how they g1-ified Arcee. A lot of the g1 designs are very basic and boxy whereas TFP where more stylized. They gave Arcee a bulkier body, gave her straight up blue eyes when she had blue eyes with pink highlights and pupils, gave her a nose and made the motorcycle a 90s bike. The only reason she looks close to what it’s supposed is because the mold was clearly intended for a G1 Flamewar.
I don't think that you can blame them for making the eyes not partially pink. At this scale that would be hard to do. But yes the eyes are one notable change they made, though they also gave them noses.
Your agreement about the eyes is a massive stretch, no tfp arcee toy has had the pink highlights, do u relixe how much of a pain that would be to paint it? By your logic with this point no tfp arcee is tfp arcee due to the lack of pink in the eyes
Tfp isn't stylized, it's just a different stylize all together, the legacy design isn't a G1 style design, if anything it's more like a bad IDW design or something like that
I’m not blaming them for not including the pink eyes I know the OG prime toys didn’t have them either. I’m just pointing out the differences between this toy and the show counterpart to see what details where g1-ified.
Legacee seemed to be designed as Road Rocket and Flamewar first, Arcee second. Like the proportions, chest, and head match IDW Flamewar, the bike mode of FunPub Flamewar, and the backpack resembling Road Rocket
I always hoped for a Flamewar toy out of Legacy Arcee, glad we got her! She being my first time holding the mould I’ve got to say, it suits her way more than Road Rocket and Arcee.
I haven't experienced all these figures yet, but Dragstrip is definitely one of my favorites. His transformation is inspiring and his design is dynamic enough to make his poses look more striking despite average posing. I think he might be one of my favourite figures
Fun fact: In the alt mode of the Laser Prime mold, (And maybe the Siege and ER Primes) there are panels on the legs that are supposed to flip out and connect to the arms, locking them into the truck mode. They're located on the kneecaps of the robot legs. Found that out today when messing with Scourge.
I am aware. I just didn't here, and yes the are on the Siege and ER as well, though they don't work great on the ER. Much better here and on the Siege.
Honestly, I didn't pick up the Stunticons, I wanted to wait until atleast 4 were shown off. I might just pick up Deadend because I genuinely like him as apposed to 'I guess I need Breakdown for the leg, even though I don't like him.' I cant help but agree with this list. I picked up Legacee and ya, she is bad, but I like her, so I don't care. Bulkhead has been and will probably remain my favorite Legacy figure and I got no idea why, he just makes me smile when I see him on my shelf
Modern transformers have been amazing for the most part, If they could put some gimmicks in there (like beast wars) I could say they're at their best, but I know that's subjective. Thanks for the video perspectiveend
Actually the movies inspired the flames on G2 Laser Optimus, originally he never had them but when the reveal the shield figure came out they gave it flames probably because of the movies and it’s been that way ever since
Legacy: Year One has proven to be a solid toy line, can’t believe on how good it’s gotten. My favourite wave one figure would have to be between either Laser Optimus Prime or Dragstrip, Bulkhead and Blaster are runner ups. Evolution looks equally as good, overall the Legacy era is going strong can’t wait for 2023!
@@PerspectiveEnd for sure Dragstrip’s the best in wave one for deluxe class, Bulkhead’s the best voyager and of course Laser Optimus is the best leader in the wave.
I just found out that Tfw2005 had an interview with hasbro, they said that Animated and Prime studio series is a possibility. So Legacy version will be g1-ified while SS version will be the accurate one.
I am a huge Beast Wars fan, and I don't actually get it. I think the joke is dirty, but all I'm comming up is Rattrap referring to skid plates, as and the time he Referenced a stripclub.
Prime design: rounded, organic, kibble integration G1 design: squared, angular, kibble everywhere Legacy G1-ified Prime, case in point, the NotCee mold was a premold of a G2 (aka G1 on acids) character.
Here's the problem with that, those designs are Physically impossible, as the show runners didn't actually think of how to make them work. That's why the OG figure of Knock out and others wound up so bad. So if they want the toy to exist on Earth in our Reality, they did have to make changes.
@@PerspectiveEnd And yet, KnockOut aside, they already did great toys of them, like the 1st edition Arcee and the various Bulk molds... all they had to do was update the technology of it. Toys of Prime characters that accurately depict their original designs can very well exist, like APC toys proved, as well from Hasbro themselves did... 12 years ago!
My personal opinion for the stunticons: 1. Dragstrip is the best, just a good deluxe that doesn’t force you to buy the whole combiner. 2. Motormaster is a close second, probably the best figure out of the five, but also the most expensive and if you get him, your kinda forced to get all of them. 3. Dead-end takes the middle here, his transformation and design is basically just a slightly worse version of Dragstrip, still a 7/10 though. 4. Wildrider is just objectively meh, the main issues are the lower legs looking slightly too thick and a pretty bad backpack. But besides those two flaws it’s an alright figure. 5. Last and certainly least, Breakdown. Just wildrider but with bad partsforming. If it weren’t for that stupid spoiler, it’d be tied with Wildrider but it’s just objectively worse.
I am a little impressed how many people have legacy prime on their top 10 of 2022. I watched 3 Top 10 videos and on 2 of them Laser Prime mold is present there(Thew Adam’s and That Toy Guys list both had Laser Prime)
I really enjoyed the figures from this line, i never ended up getting them all, but the ones i have are all really good. Btw if you were curious dragstrip turns into an experimental f1 car that if i remember correctly, was built with a better turning radius in mind, or had such a strong engine that two front wheels wouldn't turn it at high speeds so it required 4. The reason you don't see them anymore is that they were made illegal in f1 after their introduction.
8:10 Because he's actually Animated Bulkhead, not Prime Bulkhead (who was supposed to be Ironhide anyway) Transformation and kibble distribution is the same as Animated. He even has the rivets on the cab that TFA Bulkhead had. The altmode is the same kind of CoE/APC as TFA Bulkhead, when Prime Bulkhead was a roided-up Truck (again, because that design started life as Ironhide, who's a GMC TopKick in Bayverse). The partsforming backpack makes the similarities to TFA even more clear, and it even still works as a bench seat. The only thing Prime about this is his head...which looks like a last minute decision to me because it's almost a perfect copy of the Prime model, which looks wierd on a body that's not at all like Prime Bulkhead.
@@PerspectiveEnd it makes me wonder why they didn't just make a Primverse Bulkhead, because you automatically get a Bayverse Ironhide redeco if you did. You *know* they're probably going to give us at least one Bayverse character by the end of Legacy.
For Laser Prime the method of fixing the head that I've seen from a few Reddit posts and what I've done myself is to take the head off its ball joint and attempt to reattach it with the ball joint going in towards the back of the socket at the back of his head as it is connected to the front inside the chin from factory.
@@PerspectiveEnd I'm assuming they just heard through word of mouth that you're supposed to get the ball joint to the back of the head but they didn't know how so their suggestions were unclear. Anyway if you haven't tried that method already I hope it works for you.
Gonna say my fave of this wave have to be Bulkhead and Iguanus, Bulkhead for being one of fav characters in animated and prime and iguanus for being a cool lizard bike.
Kickback is better than most people give him credit for, if only for the hidden gimmick where you can combine his blast effect sword things to give him a proper abdomen like locusts are supposed to have. A feature that only exists because he is also a Ransack pre-tool.
I couldn’t force myself to buy the first release of Legacy Bulkhead but the Wreck ‘n Rule redeco won me over. The camo and black give him a more animated vibe and that was just enough for me to pull the trigger. I’m gonna have to paint the jaw green but he’s an absolute stunner apart from that.
I should pain the jaw my self. Glad that thing made you get the figure. Personally I dont see that version looking more like the Animated version though.
@@PerspectiveEnd It’s darker overall which is closer to Animated who had a good amount of black. The camo also makes it look more like a military vehicle which feels more animated since he turned into a troop transport in that show. Overall, it’s not an animated figure, it’s just got a similar vibe to the old one.
I have a conspiracy theory that Hasbro purposely released the best stunticons first being dragstrip and Motormaster to hook people to buy the entire team, even if they're shit like Wildrider because in the buyer's mind they need to finish the combiner otherwise it will feel incomplete.
Not hard to think they would realize what clunkers they had on their hands with the leg bots and trying to hide it till it was too late for people to turn back.
I’d argue that Bulkhead is closer to his animated self. Sure he doesn’t look like Animated Bulk, but he doesn’t look like Prime Bulkhead either. The vehicle mode is definitely closer to Animated Bulkhead than Prime Bulkhead
Honestly, they should have just put "Autobot Bulkhead" in the box instead of "Prime Universe Bulkhead", I mean, he's pretty much an A list character by now, right?
I thought the weird gun thing that is part of the build a weapon was supposed to be iguanus' "handlebars"? Also I just had a mental image of the dwarf from avengers infinity war tearing the iguanas box apart yelling "where's the Handles!"
I think I figured out why Iguanus doesn't have anything approximating handlebars. 1.- Considering how far off the mark the grand majority of futuristic alt modes for G1 were, it can be perfectly retconned in as his cybertronian alt mode 2.- He is a Decepticon, and a G1 Decepticon at that, I think he'd kill a human before he let them sit on his tail and drive him around town.
But even if it's a space thing, or an evil thing, it is still a passenger vehicle, and humans don't have to be the one's riding him. Other cons can too.
Nah. Laser prime is a different dude, don't care what anyone else says. Bro is like the older heavy metal cousin to Optimus. Probably let Optimus take a sip of his beer at family reunions.
I’m just gonna keep the Drag Strip and not get the other Stunticons because I have the CW figures and he blends very well with the other CW Stunticons. Sure he can’t combine with them but at least I technically have all of the Stunticons.
I’m sure you got 200 of these comments already, but people aren’t trolling when they tell you putting the head back frees up posing. I found this out myself when my velocitron scourge had a much more free head, and I compared the figures and noticed the ball joint was in a different spot in the head. It took a lot of pressure, but I did manage to shift the ball-peg in the head to the proper place, and it massively improved head posing. But I’m sure with some figures it will be too tight to do so. It was really tight on mine.
I just scooped up Bulkhead and Dragstrip the other day and I'm pretty happy with them ( had a lot of fun transforming them, and bonus I didn't feel like I had to use the force of a god to move a part or snap a peg in place)
As someone who is usually behind on collecting, I surprisingly have all of these in one way or another. So, as you’re giving your thoughts on Wave 1, I think it’s fair to give mine. In rough order of when I got them(excluding Galvatron and Blaster, because mine were the Kingdom ones), these are my thoughts on Legacy wave 1. Arcee: I got this because of a coupon on Amazon I had. It came in a damaged box, and I ended up damaging it further trying to open it. Once I had the figure, it looked okay, but the transformation had bits that didn’t wanna work, and the weapons were not even close. I might get the upgrade kit for her, but for now, Rog’s guns work (thanks for that idea, Beltfed). -Speaking of Beltfed, I remember in the Patreon vid when he said that LegArcee was meant to be Flamewar. That sounds like a cool idea in a Legacy series, like, we think she’s Arcee, but she’s really Flamewar in disguise. Like, that sounds badass. Shame we’ll never see that happen. Bulkhead: Found this and Buzzworthy Cliffjumper the day we were picking up my prom tux rental, and I had the money for both, so I picked up both. Bulkhead is just awesome: it’s got killer sculpting, a cool transformation, awesome weapon integration, and he fits in with my Wreckers really well. He’s just great all-around. -But I do like the Cliffjumper more, I don’t know why. Skids: Got this as a graduation present from my mom (I have the coolest mom btw). It’s pretty good for what it is. I love the car mode, and the Energon weapons were pretty good, unlike the LegArcee. He’s not as “cool” as the IDW one, but for what he is, he’s not bad. -With that being said, Legacy Swerve and Nautica when? Iguanus: Also a grad present from my mom. This one is just cool for coolness sake. His look radiates the late 80s, and his transformation is pretty innovative for a core class. The weapon was kind of sacrificed for a gimmick, but I’m not complaining when the rest of Iguanus is this good. -Wish Skullgrin was a core class. That’d be sweet. Drag Strip: Found this at a Walmart one time. It’s basically a perfect G1 Dragstrip, but the hollow head was a weird choice they made. Excited for Motormaster and the other two Stunticons. -And I’m not getting rid of my Wildrider, either. Kickback: Same time, same Walmart. Ended up liking this a lot, but not having a lot to say about it. He’s just kinda there, waiting until Evolution when the other Insecticons can show up. Same with Ransack, he’s just kinda there waiting for his buddies. It’s an impatience I’m all too familiar with. Laser Prime: I ended up not getting this, and I instead got the Scourge. I said I wouldn’t, but the Netflix one was too expensive for me, and I just needed “a” Nemesis Prime to be happy. Ended up enjoying him a ton more than I thought I would. He’s surprisingly my favorite repaint in the Velocitron line, and the only repaint I ended up getting there besides Hauler. -I bought this the same day I did Rog. Both were kind of impulse buys, but I don’t regret either of them. And there is no true winner. These guys all have something I like about them, and the worse one was just mediocre. And what I have of wave 2 was good too, some good, some great. I’m just hoping distribution gets better for the rest of Legacy.
To be fair, it did take me till after wave 2 finished coming out and wave 3 started to get around to this. Glad you didn't end up hating the Cliffjumper even if I do. NO! MY MOM IS THE COOLEST!!! No joke growing up she made sure I got EVERY Beast Wars toy. I can look through the Wiki for it, and there's not one figure in there I didn't experience... Except for Inferno, who we had to return cause mine was defective, and then we never found another. Yeah that's the Problem with Kick Back, he's just kind of there for the most part, doesn't do enough to sand out. The Laser Prime is the Mold I enjoy the most out of this list personally.
7:45 I also genuinely believed that prime Arcee was just chromia, but that's just because of the fact that the year before the show's release, ROTF came out and had chromia also be a blue motorbike with the similar head/face look design style that the other unicycle girls shared as well. But even without that similarity prime Arcee maybe should have been the chromia from G1 but I can see why they made Arcee blue instead cuz blue is cooler than pink
Gotta say, since we aren’t counting Blaster, Skids is probably my favourite from the first wave, which I did not expect at all when he was first revealed. Dragstrip in second, and Iguanas in a close third. Every figure, aside from the shitshow that is Arcee, is surprisingly good though.
They are not trolling when telling you about laser primes head joint. Pop the the head out of it's socket and then look under it, you will notice that it was connected to a gap in his chin, you have to connect it to the socket and not the chin gap and then his head will be freed up and actually have more range. I only got him recently and just figured this out.
@@PerspectiveEnd That’s like telling someone you have an irrational fear and them then trying to explain to you why your irrational fear isn’t rationale.
I actually picked up Arcee in California, but I live in michigan. We were on my childhood vacation out west, and I was kind of disappointed. But I laughed when my brother got uncooked chicken dinobot. Also great job on the video. Keep it up!
Good job on this one, wave 1 of legacy was probably the most consistently strong. Even the worst figures were actually alright(outside of hotrod), Laser Prime was probably one of my favorites from this wave, but I had to buy three copies of it just to get one without some problem and I am worried about his hips because my ER Optimus had his leg snap off shortly after getting the legacy one. So if anyone could lend me a spare ER Optimus crotch that would be great(kidding…sort of). I didn’t hate wildrider but he was a step down, feeling like if they did combiner wars today, didn’t bother me that much because I thought he was fine and he was pretty much just going to Menasor’s left sock so whatever. Great job again, keep up the good work but don’t get too stressed out. Have a great day man.
Thank you. And of these figures Laser Prime is probably my Favorite, I have the most fun with him, but I still had to put him low because he just doesn't work on an Objective front as well as the rest. Sorry about your ER Prime.
@@PerspectiveEnd Thanks, I kept my siege Prime so he works as my Optimus for now, even though I slightly prefer the ER mold personally probably due to animating with it. When it comes to Laser Prime I pretty much agree with your objective stance on it, he is just a surprisingly fun figure. Hope your day goes well.
Hi Mr. pend, I really wish you’d had read my discord DMs on dragstrip and wild rider, but I know you’re busy. And skids should have lost more as he’s horribly inaccurate color wise. I also can’t help but feel you’d have complained if kickback swapped out the head and called it faux forming. But my wave one ranking goes like this. From worst to best, skywarp, dragstrip, prime, arcee, skids, igaunus, bulkhead, and kickback takes the cake. I bouffe toys based off of how well the achieve their purpose and how well they hold up to basic principles.
Sorry man, I have been busy with this, I keep looking at that and wanting to reply but I just havent had the time. I don't tend to hold colors in high esteem in accuracy. Depending on your TV the show colors would look different back in the day. I probably would have called it Fauxforming, but that's a more minor sin than having a LAME transformation with a head that looks lazy and bad.
i`m sure somebody else might have already said it but, This Bulkhead mold looks like its intended to be some sort of Optimus. I could potentially see a minor retool and recolour of this into a interpretation of Powermaster optimus prime from the Marvel comics. I say that because his design in those books was often kinda fudged and looking nothing like its source material. honestly if they did away with the wrecking ball and gun, Added his shoulder turrets and remolded the trailer canopy i could see it.
I haven't heard that theory in a while, but back before this came out people were proposing that idea to me a lot. I don't see them doing that though, they already have enough Optimus's out, and in the works that they don't need to milk this out of him.
@@PerspectiveEnd Its true that they have plenty of Optimi out already, i wish they would think this way with bumblebees. i think were pretty much bumblebeed out for at least a decade.
Here's my prediction of what you're going to say about the holiday Optimus Prime. First you will say "why are his legs still so long?" Then you'll say "they're using the trailer again how lazy can Hasbro be!?" Then you'll also say along those lines "why did they give him the same 'cr@p shoot' cannon from Earthrise?" And then something about Amazon and bottles. Did I just write your future script?
They really came out swinging with the stunticons but by the time they hit first base hasbro tripped and fell flat. Drag strip and motormaster release relatively good but then wildrider/breakdown just pissed on it, people hated CW breakdown for the bad hips but at least he has a better vehicle and not just a copy of wildrider. Wave 1 was an alright start it did have 2 repacks but did alright as a start to legacy
"Is it fair to say that Dragstrip's value as a combiner team member drags him down?" Yes. I even avoid non-combiner teams if too many members have weak toys. I will never have a team Blaster to counter my team Soundwave because the only time team blaster has been updated completely it was held back by that data disc gimmick.
@@PerspectiveEnd generations voyager figures (and their legion/legends class little friends) tying in to the WFC/FOC videogames. And it's not that kingdom and even titans return blaster aren't nice for their own qualities -- they're good -- they're just not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is like the deluxe cybertronian soundwave, which Blaster doesn't really have anything comparable in design philosophy.
I really want a Toxitron version of the Laser Prime mold. Reasons why? Because A, I don't know if we've had an official figure of the guy that hasn't been cancelled in any way, and B, the Shoulders of Laser Prime can go all the way sideways which is what the cancelled Universe figure looked like.
@@PerspectiveEnd from his alt mode to his style. I think legacy bulkhead is based on age of extinction hound who is then based after prime bulkhead. We are many layers deep here lol
Actually, in G1, the ladies weren't boxy, the animation models were literally women wearing space suits that occasionally had body parts, at least a body that slender is excusable on a motorcycle
Yay I was right! But hell no to wildrider mold ruining the stunticons...for me anyway, if I hated them that much they can just hide behind menasors shins the rest of their existence but I don't hate the mold that much. I think it could have and should have been better and definitely has flaws but isn't that bad. Some ppl are super picky though lol. Anyway great rankings, as always, I enjoy listening to your opinions!
I do think it's a LITTLE drastic to ditch both the other ones cause Wildrider sucks, but I do hate that figure, and I can see how it can ruin it for people.
Legacy Bulkhead has Kinda Gona down with me as One of the Best Figures Hasbro has ever Made. Its Solid. It poses well. The Accessories Rule (except that stupid Minigun). And it Transforms Well. One of my Best TF Purchases Ever in my Opinion.
People aren’t trolling, Laser Prime’s head is supposed to be shoved forward. The thing is horribly paint stuck and how shitty the ball joint was finished. For me it moved easy when I got it out of the box.
The head on my laser prime just suddenly started articulating more one day out of nowhere. No idea why but it did happen, for a while though mine was static too so I understand your frustration.
Tbh I’d still put dragstrip as the best, simply because of expectations, while skids arced and kickback were expected to be bad and then turned out good. Dragstrip was probably the only one of the stunticons that straight up curb-stomped our expectations, I mean how many figures do you know of can split in two whilst still having one basic alt mode? It’s almost like dragstrip carried the rest of the stunticons…now I know why he has a split back lol. Bulkhead on the other hand still gets the slap by just not being bulkhead, regardless of which version you use. If your gonna give me prime/animated bulkhead(according to the rumors) then I expect to see that bulkhead. But that’s my take on the figures and I can understand why you chose bulkhead.
I feel like Bulkhead still takes the win for the extra poseability and better Articulation. Prime and Animated Bulkhead aren't the Same Bulkhead though. They are two pretty different guys in all honesty.
In defense of Iguanus having no handlebars, I always saw that as him not really wanting someone to ride him. His alt mode is just meant to get around quicker, not carry someone on his back. His alt mode doesn't really look like an earth motorcycle, and i never understood why cybertronian modes have windows and cockpits for anything other than i guess minicons?
@@PerspectiveEnd I think he's talking about the fact that Ironhide was going to be in the show, but when he was killed off in DOTM they switched it to Bulkhead because of brand unity. Hence the Ironhide figure we got.
I wanna bet that you will reach 20k before the end of the year. It's less than 250 and at this rate you will easily reach it. And you did a WTB, which is always a crowd pleaser, so that will also help.
The only legacy figures I have is dragstrip, scourge, and galvatron. So far I'm having a good experience. Dragstrip was my first but out of the box his hip has a crack on it. As for scourge it's funny how a new deco can really change a figure. As for galvatron I got him for my birthday (also with scourge) and he's "okay". I mean he's very solid and chunky which is good, but his ankle is annoying and in tank mode his arms are hard to adjust
I would tend to agree that his arms aren't too friendly in the Cannon Mode, but what is your problems with his Ankles? Sorry to hear about your Dragstrip.
@@PerspectiveEnd what I meant by his ankles is that it's hindered by the "heel spur" Of the cannon mode. So when I try to pose his ankles the purple part that holds his legs together detaches and hinges his legs out. Also his cannon is loose on mine.
Fusing the Pretenders' inner robots with their shells wasn't inspired, it was LAZY! If you're going to do Pretenders, do it right. Making a transforming micromaster or Core/Basic-class figure that folds into a shell and MAKE THE SHELL TRANSFORM with the inner robot inside, just like Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus. If Hasbro didn't want to come up with alt-modes for the shells, they could have just combined the humanoid Pretenders shells with the beast Pretender shells or the vehicle Pretender shells. Then Hasbro could have even repainted the shells, once in the humanoid color scheme and once in the alt-mode's and you know how much Hasbro loves repaints.
But almost no one cares about the Pretender's inner robot at all. It's not who anyone thinks of when they think of the Pretenders. So instead of making robots most people wont even Recognize, they just made that the Robot. And I mean technically they've done it before many times with Bludgeon, and I don't hear people angry about that.
I would pick Bulkhead for number one as well. The weapon that comes with Iguanas functions as handlebars and a headlight in alt mode. Kinda lame, but it works.
I needed this video. Going through a break up is a bitch. Not gonna get into that and waste your time but yeah it hurts. And she got me a laser prime a month ago so yeah I’m making my imagination refuse to believe that he is Optimus prime. Thank you for a great video.
I'm sorry to hear that. I think I remember you just recently telling me about some cool stuff you did with your girlfriend. Thats just too bad man, I'm happy I could help you at all right now.
The stunticons looked so good from the start and then went downhill fast after dead end
At least Dead End looks fun still.
Mr PVP made a good point on them. Like dragstrip, motormaster and upper body part of Dead end was good and the rest is let down.
@@silentone3357 i disagree with this, the stunticons are overall bad from the start. The price is ridiculous given what you're paying for.

@@thearisen13 but your argument is based on the eye paint...
Legacee seemed to be designed as Road Rocket and Flamewar first, Arcee second.
Like the proportions, chest, and head match IDW Flamewar, the bike mode of FunPub Flamewar, and the backpack resembling Road Rocket
If my Flamewar theory is true, maybe that’s why Evolution is going to have ShadowStriker, a character associated with her in IDW2.
I do think it has a mix of problems but I'd mostly lay the blame on it being Squished. Perhaps to better fit Flame War.
He's definitely one of the absolute best of the line. I don't know why people complain so much about him.
7:45 I think she was pink in concept art but didn't want Jack to have a pink motorcycle so they painted her blue, and kept the Arcee name.
Yes, actually. Besides, Chromia has never been a bike outside of the one convention exclusive until IDW
That would make some sense actually.
@@PerspectiveEnd you didn’t know? They even made a joke about it in season three when she talked about bees new Color
Funny part about Arcee was that you said she is stretched out, where as in show she seemed to masshift, AKA stretching...
This is true.
Legacy looks so perfect to me, everything there looks like everything I’ve ever wanted in a tf line (except for motormaster). Truly, a “perfect” line
What's wrong with Motormaster?
@@PerspectiveEnd I meant menasor, I actually like motormaster a lot. I think menasor is the worst combiner, or the worst one directly from g1
@@drbluejay858 Menasor is kindof unfixable, unfortunately. the design is inherently fucked from the outset.
I might just pick up Deadend because I genuinely like him as apposed to 'I guess I need Breakdown for the leg, even though I don't like him.'
I cant help but agree with this list. I picked up Legacee and ya, she is bad, but I like her, so I don't care. Bulkhead has been and will probably remain my favorite Legacy figure and I got no idea why, he just makes me smile when I see him on my shelf

Man I am having a GNARLY Mandela effect about this.
Laser Optimus is my favorite of the wave personally. Though I think the other ones are objectively better.
That is the rumor going around yes.
There is one thing animated and
G1 drag strip have in common, both don’t have a gearbox. (Beast wars fans will know what I’m referring to)
I am a huge Beast Wars fan, and I don't actually get it. I think the joke is dirty, but all I'm comming up is Rattrap referring to skid plates, as and the time he Referenced a stripclub.
Legacy Blaster in my opinion: “It was perfect, perfect. Everything, down to the last… minute details.” ~ Homelander from The Boys.
He did get the Number 1 slot in the WTB he was in.
@@PerspectiveEnd I might have missed that. I’m not sure.
Prime design: rounded, organic, kibble integration
G1 design: squared, angular, kibble everywhere
Legacy G1-ified Prime, case in point, the NotCee mold was a premold of a G2 (aka G1 on acids) character.
My personal opinion for the stunticons:
Pluss Breakdown also now has the wrong altmode, since they didn't retool the car.
@@PerspectiveEnd that doesn’t bother me too much but even I could design a better spoiler in an hour!
The lazer prime alt mode is put hear looking like he heard fuel and proceeded to say: “GIVE ME FUEL, HIVE ME FIRE, GIVE ME THAT WHICH I DESIRE”

I just got the MMC Medicus and Optus Prominon yesterday and man are they amazing. I don't regret my choice at all
Nice! I'm so happy to hear that I didn't steer you wrong at all.
Can we talk about how the goldbug version of the ER cliffjumper mold works probably the best out of all the repaints??
Actually, I kind of agree on that
I don't find that to be the case my self. I still don't like that figure.
I am a little impressed how many people have legacy prime on their top 10 of 2022.
I watched 3 Top 10 videos and on 2 of them Laser Prime mold is present there(Thew Adam’s and That Toy Guys list both had Laser Prime)
He was good, but I couldn't put him in there my self.
I prefer the idea of lazer prime being a separate character.
I do too, it's more fun, but people were PISSED at me for it.
Name of the car: Tyrell P34, if I remember correctly
Which figures are you missing, and yeah someone after you gave me like the whole history of the car.
Lazer Optimus prime, or at least a figure nearly identical to it, was the first Optimus I had with a matrix of leadership
That's impressive considering how many have had it recently.
8:10 Because he's actually Animated Bulkhead, not Prime Bulkhead (who was supposed to be Ironhide anyway)
Transformation and kibble distribution is the same as Animated.
Hey, that's basically what I've been saying all this time. This feels more like the OG version of him not the Prime Guy.
@@PerspectiveEnd it makes me wonder why they didn't just make a Primverse Bulkhead, because you automatically get a Bayverse Ironhide redeco if you did.
You *know* they're probably going to give us at least one Bayverse character by the end of Legacy.
Ehh. It's down to the designer at a point. If the designer wanted to do this, hasbro couldn't stop him.
For Laser Prime the method of fixing the head that I've seen from a few Reddit posts and what I've done myself is to take the head off its ball joint and attempt to reattach it with the ball joint going in towards the back of the socket at the back of his head as it is connected to the front inside the chin from factory.
See everyone was telling me to just push on it, not to take it off first.
I enjoy Laser Prime the most my self, but I do think those are two of the best of the line, and better than Laser Prime in an Objective sense.
7:45 Got that information correct, she was originally going to be Chromia, but changed the name last second
source?
If true... CALLED IT!
Kickback is better than most people give him credit for, if only for the hidden gimmick where you can combine his blast effect sword things to give him a proper abdomen like locusts are supposed to have. A feature that only exists because he is also a Ransack pre-tool.
I think that's a decent use of the accessories, but I personally don't use it. And yes, he is better than expected.
3:38 *sad skywarp noises*
Sorry to disappoint.
Even though the majority of the bot modes aren’t great you can’t deny that Menasor fully complete is a sight to behold.
That's always the vibe I've gotten my self.
I thought the weird gun thing that is part of the build a weapon was supposed to be iguanus' "handlebars"?
Also I just had a mental image of the dwarf from avengers infinity war tearing the iguanas box apart yelling "where's the Handles!"
It is, but it looks awful, and not really like Handlebars. Plus if you lose it you just don't have handle bars.
I was originally going to pass on Bulkhead at first, but after finding him at my local Target store I do not regret getting him that day. :D
I know, he looked so bad before he actually came out.
@@PerspectiveEnd A prime example of the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover."
I think I figured out why Iguanus doesn't have anything approximating handlebars.
1.- Considering how far off the mark the grand majority of futuristic alt modes for G1 were, it can be perfectly retconned in as his cybertronian alt mode
2.- He is a Decepticon, and a G1 Decepticon at that, I think he'd kill a human before he let them sit on his tail and drive him around town.
But even if it's a space thing, or an evil thing, it is still a passenger vehicle, and humans don't have to be the one's riding him. Other cons can too.
@@PerspectiveEnd Maybe he's antisocial
Nah. Laser prime is a different dude, don't care what anyone else says. Bro is like the older heavy metal cousin to Optimus. Probably let Optimus take a sip of his beer at family reunions.
That's how I like to feel as well.
I’m just gonna keep the Drag Strip and not get the other Stunticons because I have the CW figures and he blends very well with the other CW Stunticons. Sure he can’t combine with them but at least I technically have all of the Stunticons.
Menasor would combine with the CW Legs, so you could just go with a Legacy upper Body,

Thank you. I'm glad you like my Rubric.
In canon Dragstrip would be livid at not being declared the winner.
Which makes this all the Sweeter.
Actually you are the first one I've seen all day.
I've tried it like 5 times and they head comes off like every time.
I just scooped up Bulkhead and Dragstrip the other day and I'm pretty happy with them ( had a lot of fun transforming them, and bonus I didn't feel like I had to use the force of a god to move a part or snap a peg in place)
Yeah, they are both great. Like I said it was a hard decision.
I think another reason arcee doesn't feel like arcee is the nose and mising the back wings.
I'm actually in favor of them giving these designs a nose. I always disliked the lack of them.
That's an interesting point I hadn't considered.
Blaster might have taken the Number 1 slot here if he was allowed to be on this list, but who knows, he had Stiff Competition here.

Thank you very much, and yeah, Chicken Dinobot looks pretty silly.

I do have 100% agree I got the legacy bulkhead and it was absolutely amazing definitely one of the best figures I own
It's surprisingly good. Like I didn't expect it.
Hi Mr. pend, I really wish you’d had read my discord DMs on dragstrip and wild rider, but I know you’re busy.
@@PerspectiveEnd don’t feel rushed, your psycho fan is patient. But skids is straight up colored wrong.
i`m sure somebody else might have already said it but,
This Bulkhead mold looks like its intended to be some sort of Optimus.
I could potentially see a minor retool and recolour of this into a interpretation of
Powermaster optimus prime from the Marvel comics. I say that because
his design in those books was often kinda fudged and looking nothing like its source material.
honestly if they did away with the wrecking ball and gun, Added his shoulder turrets and remolded
the trailer canopy i could see it.
I haven't heard that theory in a while, but back before this came out people were proposing that idea to me a lot. I don't see them doing that though, they already have enough Optimus's out, and in the works that they don't need to milk this out of him.

Personally I love the laser prime, and I totally agree with idea of laser being separated from Optimus
I don't know why people were so mad about that. It was such a weird reaction.
Yeah bulkhead looks like a pretty good choice, I’ll pick him up when I have a chance
I think you will enjoy it greatly.
Here's my prediction of what you're going to say about the holiday Optimus Prime.
First you will say "why are his legs still so long?"
Then you'll say "they're using the trailer again how lazy can Hasbro be!?"
Then you'll also say along those lines "why did they give him the same 'cr@p shoot' cannon from Earthrise?"
And then something about Amazon and bottles.
Did I just write your future script?
Nah... I was just going to say that it's Sinfully Ugly.
That wasn't even a pun.

"Is it fair to say that Dragstrip's value as a combiner team member drags him down?"
Yes.
I even avoid non-combiner teams if too many members have weak toys. I will never have a team Blaster to counter my team Soundwave because the only time team blaster has been updated completely it was held back by that data disc gimmick.
What do you mean Data Disk Gimmick? And there are a few Great Blasters out there like the Kingdom? What's wrong with that one?
@@PerspectiveEnd generations voyager figures (and their legion/legends class little friends) tying in to the WFC/FOC videogames.
And it's not that kingdom and even titans return blaster aren't nice for their own qualities -- they're good -- they're just not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is like the deluxe cybertronian soundwave, which Blaster doesn't really have anything comparable in design philosophy.
The reissue igunas is called tarantula in the toys r us system
That is weird. You must be a Canada Man then?
@@PerspectiveEnd this is in Singapore
Drag strips vehicle mode is a Tyrell P-34 Six-Wheeler race car
It is apparently that yes.
For the stunticons i think they are All good especially dragstrip, but wild rider is a close second in my favorites
Man personally I can't stand the Wildrider, it's just the CW figure again but worse.
I think I'd probably buy that.
fun fact: bulkhead's partsforming is completely unnecessary. If you have the robot mode correct, the tarp is on his back.
Yeah, but it is a pain to do.
The prime [cartoon , not toy] arcee got them legs though. Delish. Also, legacy bulkhead still gives of aoe hound.
I think he was supposed to be hound, but Michael Bay wanted to flip the bird at Hasbro for dragging him back in to direct
They are made of metal dude.
@@PerspectiveEnd from his alt mode to his style. I think legacy bulkhead is based on age of extinction hound who is then based after prime bulkhead. We are many layers deep here lol
@@CayeDaws It's a deep rabbit hole
I love Bulkhead. I didn't get Arcee, but I did get Road Rocket.
Bulkhead is so good. Road Rocket has some cool Metalic blue paint.
You have chosen... Wisely.
Thank you!
Really, really, really want to pick up bulkhead but the one with the camo all over...70/30 agree with your review.
I like the normal colors one better my self.
This is what I think people think: Legacee is more boxy, and thus since G1 is the boxiest series Legacee = G1ified
Also the nose
But the girls of G1 weren't Boxy?
Actually, in G1, the ladies weren't boxy, the animation models were literally women wearing space suits that occasionally had body parts, at least a body that slender is excusable on a motorcycle
IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN
Goodness do I love your schedule.
What has Happened again?
@@PerspectiveEnd you uploading at the perfect time
Kickback's chest is hollow, if you cut the trasparent plastic taps and open te chest you can put in a legends figure, like TR Chopsop.
I assumed something like that, but is there a video or Picture?
@@PerspectiveEnd was a reddit post 😔
Yay I was right! But hell no to wildrider mold ruining the stunticons...for me anyway, if I hated them that much they can just hide behind menasors shins the rest of their existence but I don't hate the mold that much. I think it could have and should have been better and definitely has flaws but isn't that bad. Some ppl are super picky though lol. Anyway great rankings, as always, I enjoy listening to your opinions!
I do think it's a LITTLE drastic to ditch both the other ones cause Wildrider sucks, but I do hate that figure, and I can see how it can ruin it for people.
Honestly both bulkhead and skids are banger figures
Skids is Low Key great.
I like your headcanon on laser prime
I like it too, which is why I shared it with you all, and was unprepared for people getting pissed about it.
I mean the Minigun can be used for good, like when you combine it with the shield to make an emplaced turret.
People aren’t trolling, Laser Prime’s head is supposed to be shoved forward. The thing is horribly paint stuck and how shitty the ball joint was finished. For me it moved easy when I got it out of the box.
Somebody sent me a video on how to do it, and it turned out I had to take the head all the way off to have it work.
The head on my laser prime just suddenly started articulating more one day out of nowhere. No idea why but it did happen, for a while though mine was static too so I understand your frustration.
I'm glad to hear that at least you get more range than I do.
@@PerspectiveEnd Thanks man! Hopefully yours works better eventually too.
interesting to know that going from worst to best, it starts and ends with a prime universe figure.
It is funny that they bookend it.
I thought people were trolling about the head articulation too, until I actually did it. Not even sure how I did it.
I have been trying, it just keeps popping off.
@@PerspectiveEnd I know that. But there was a rumor going around that this was supposed to be animated bulkhead
Kickback’s chest is not hollow, there is just black plastic behind the yellow.
See someone else just said the exact opposite.
Legacy core rod is the best ... **fight me**
I'll fight you on the Beaches, I'll fight you in the Streets.
7:45 kinda makes sense when you swap out arcee and cliffjumper with ironhide and chromia.
I don't know that I'd call the 5 seconds of Cliffjumper in that show, Ironhide.
@@PerspectiveEnd I think he's talking about the fact that Ironhide was going to be in the show, but when he was killed off in DOTM they switched it to Bulkhead because of brand unity. Hence the Ironhide figure we got.
if you want him to not sound really fast you can turn the speed to 0.75 and it sounds really good
Yeah, I know about 8% of my audience does that, I'm glad you all have the option if it helps you enjoy my stuff.
I wanna bet that you will reach 20k before the end of the year. It's less than 250 and at this rate you will easily reach it. And you did a WTB, which is always a crowd pleaser, so that will also help.
I assume you mean 10K Not 20. And yeah I'm sure I will pass that, probably before the end of the month.
I hope to do more WTBs going forward.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah 10
I don't know that I'd say that that kind of works, I'd say that it kind of maybe works if you squint at it real hard.
Thats just too bad man, I'm happy I could help you at all right now.
after more than a year heres my takes,
S TIer Iguanus, Dragstrip
A Tier Bulkhead, Laser Prime
B TIer Elita One, Kickback
C Tier Prime Arcee
