34 years old. This music just always hits home for me as a confused millennial in this fucked up world. So much pain and emotion in one song that comes all rushing back in a few short minutes. Blows my mind how a melody and some simple lyrics can do that. One of the greatest bands from that age. Underestimated. Understated. If you know, you know.
Saw these guys last month at a small bar and they really brought it.

@@computershoplovestory he's still in the band he has a kid now and I think he's trying to work on his drinking habit so not a lot of time to tour unless it's locally and he still writes music with them
@@wetslippers63 like the other guy said, tim is still in the band. the guy from chon is just a touring member filling in so tim can stay home.

5:45 Love it when Tim and Thom would connect on stage. It didn't happen often, but when it did, it would make me smile.
I think it was on this tour when they had to send Tim home cause he was fucking up tho.... And the way he pushed Thomas off it seems a little agressive.

i never noticed until i learned the song on guitar, but the intro they play live is very similar to the start of the section at 5:35 , just slowed down and repeated + some crazy thom improv
thts amazing you were able to notice tht coherence and connection. a lot of people wouldnt notice tht. so much intricacy in this band i love it

It's something they've only been doing within recent years. They've always done a warm up intro to most of their songs live anyways.

@@IDontReadReplies42069 i'm 6 years late, but after learning this song i realized the intro they play live sometimes is pretty similar to the part at 5:35 . not exactly the same and it's kinda slower, but very similar (not counting the improvisation in the intro)

This is the show with the best audio quality of the band ever recorded. unfortunately the fall of troy was already in decline (Thomas's voice, Tim with drugs issues, etc)

It’s all improvised. If you look at the live versions of this dating all the way back to 2006, they’re different every single time. Sometimes the lyrics don’t make sense, but they work. It’s all improv which is awesome.

I wish haha...most of it is just improv that he changes every show. Although I guess someone could figure out how to tab this version...
He changes it often, but for 'Act One' he downtunes his low E down to an A (ouch), and tunes his B string up to a C (also ouch) so the bottom four strings make a full sounding chord, and all he has to do is fret the D string. Genius
Another side note: I think him and Tim tuned their respective guitars down a half-step on this tour.? So instead of Key C its like B or something

He usually sings he exact same live. This one appears to be at the end of a tour. They all look hella tired.
You try playing complex riffs while singing.
For how technically amazing he is and how tired he is here, he's doing goddamn well.
I kind of like his hit and miss, not so pitch perfect singing voice. It goes well with the music imo. It's his own. It's mathy emo rock.... I almost expect it to a certain extent.
Well he definitely ruined his voice after Ghost Ship. Probably spent the first three albums screaming wrong and fucked his vocal cords.
