      Swahili is our national language, it is compulsory in schools, and I am so proud that we are not glorifying the colonizers. Traditional outfits are not a thing. We didn't grow wearing them, and neither did most East africans or South africans. We are simple people when it comes to hair and makeup. Rarely do Kenyans bleach their skin the way West africans do. Wigs, nah!

    • @Zazezoo
      @Zazezoo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joycem.9889Kenyans are very stingy that’s why they don’t spend much on their appearance. Even Kenyans bleach and wear wigs just like the Nigerians. If not brown, they just have poor fashion sense 😅

    • @joycem.9889
      @joycem.9889 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ummm. What? Stingy? No. We are not as capitalist as Nigerians. The bleaching ratios can not even compare. And, I am married to a West African. I know this. Love my simple Kenyans

    Doing well with your Swahili 👍. I'd say Kenyans dress nicely without overdoing it. West Africans in general are flashy dressers (not in a negative way)... they are just used to going overboard even with their jewelry for example. So to them a Kenyan who is moderately dressed is always underdressed. All good though. Keep up the on point 👌 analysis.

    On dressing I agree. Even the current and former president plus the opposition leader are just comfortable with untucked shirts and sneakers even on official functions and we like it. Besides, they're comfortable. There's a time suits were the thing even in villages but we're slowly moving away from that. I guess it's a result of western influence. For groceries, you can always buy in bulk in kilograms from the market, not sure where you make your purchases. The small kibandas are at the bottom of the supply chain and they cater for emergencies & low income earners.

    • @jamidesutv
      @jamidesutv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that makes sense. Although in Nigeria, even to provisions (cornflakes, Milo, sugar etc) we get to buy those in bulks too. And for the middle class, it helps bulk buy for the month and save some money.

    Oh dear, where I live in Nairobi there are quite a number of Nigerians, I just realized there is a trend of packaging tomatoes and onions in batches of Kes 100... We could be adjusting to accommodate you our cousins😂... But seriously, the counting thing is a city trend, in the village markets items are grouped in batches as well ... I guess due to numbers of people per household is higher in the village than in the cities/towns
