Yes truly igbos of Nigeria and luo of kenya are one same people. The answer lies in the bible. The Igbos are the TRUE descendants of Jacob, they lived in East Africa(Holy land) before the Most High brought them to west Africa in the land of Asshur/Assyria (Hausa) as the Ten Tribes of Jacob along the River AFRA changed to Euphrate by Europeans scholars and called River Niger today. The luo people i believe are reminants of the igbos who returned back to the Holy land from Babylon(Sudan) or Egypt. This discovery further confirms that bible events all took place in Africa,80% in East/Central Africa, 20% in west Africa.
Thank you so much for this valuable information.

I knew already that the Obama tribe in Kenya is related to the Igbos in Nigeria. When Obama became the president, his stepmother came from Kanya with some gifts, and part of what she gave to President Obama as a King /President, was Oduenyi ( elephant tusk ) then, I also read from one of the big news media online, on all the connecting dots that made up Obama’s roots. The Igbo tribe in Nigeria is part of the dots.
Obama’s ancestors traveled from Nigeria through the northern part of Africa until they finally settled down in Kanya. Remember, when people are migrating, they mix up with another African tribe.

The Luo and Igbo are descendants of the lost tribes of Jacob (Israel) the tribe of Dan. The tribe of Dan fled from Egypt because of slavery . They fled south separated near Omdurman in Khartoum.
The Igbos went south west and the Luos went south to source of the Nile and followed around lake victoria.
More research is needed to explain the similarities. When Ibos sing the tone is Luo even if you can't hear. There needs to be proper research about the two communities. Luos are Egyptian the name Nilotic has nothing to do with their identities. It was used by the Europeans to refer to people found along the Nile river.
There is a striking similarity in some yoruba and igbo names of people and places and the luo of East Africa. Examples:: Gombe-Gombe; Agan-Agan; Madueke-Maduke;Aluko-Aluko;Okikioka-Okiki; Ogun- OgunaAikhomu-Akumu;Oladipo -Odipo Agalla-Agalo; Aremu-Aremo;Okonkwo-Okon'go. I.do not have an explanation for this..just a curious observation.I 'm a Kenyan.

@@chagavahI worked in Kisumu as a healthcare worker for a few years. We circumcised several boys. Yes
In Igbo, Bia means come. In Luo, come means Bi, Bi ka or depends on how or when you use it. In Igbo, Okonkwo means liquor, in Luo it means Kong'o or Oko'ngo for an alcoholic person. In Igbo, Okute means stones, in Luo it's either kite/ kidi. Many similarities plus many more
Okonkwo doesn't mean liquor. Oko nkwo is a male child born on nkwo market day. There is also okorie, Okafor, okeke. All relating to the 4 market days in igbo land, Eke, Orie, Afor, Nkwo. For females you have mgbafor, mgborie, mgbeke, mgbokwa. This were some of the names igbos bears before colonialism and the 4 market days was their calender

Even the Luos of Uganda are uncontrollable and other tribes don't want them to ascend into higher level of leadership
One shoul not be very surprised since it has been illustrated that the Bantus of central and southern Africa migrated from the Niger - Benue region of West Africa where Ndigbo (Igbos) have lived for thousands of years. It is possible the Luo people may be among latest people that migrate out of that region.

Let me clarify about Igbo royal family from Nigeria and luos / Teso from Kenya, this three tribes thy are one family, for example, when Igbo call there child Daughter Inkiru, Teso from Kenya they also call Akiru, meaning the child born on the rain session, Wen Igbo call Okoro, same Teso they call Okoro, the babe boy born a round 3am to 5am morning, Wen the cocks are (. .....) So mostly Teso and luos thy normally using capitol O in there names, for example, Otieno, Onyango, Omondi, Ochieng, those one are from luos, Teso, Okoro, Osapiri, Omodya, Okonkwo, Eto'o, Emojong, Oruku, Igbo thy also have, Okonkwo, Eto'o, Okoro, and so on, so you are our brothers in Nigeria

Ok
I'm Kikuyu but I've seen people in Luo spaces here on YT talk about a potential Igbo connection, because their names start with 'O'. I'm fairly good at pattern matching, and don't see it. I'd say that Igbos are closer to Bantu, especially because they're located in South Eastern Nigeria. In fact, I recently discovered that Bette/Bendi languages from SE Nigeria have some Bantu-like words.
I definitely sense some connection between Nilotic languages in Kenya & S. Sudan and those from west and north of Nigeria i.e Mali, Gambia, Guinea, Senegal etc, from listening to their speech patterns. They sound Turkana-ish. I've not found similar words yet though, so I'm guessing the connection might be very ancient i.e from more than a couple thousand years ago, when the Sahara desert was greener.

THIS GUY DOES NOT KNOW THAT IBOS IN NIGERIA IS 70 MILLION.
Theres no way theres 70 million Igbo in Nigeria!
Whatever similarities in prefixes, the 'O's, the 'Chi's and 'Nwa's are purely coincidental.
Thesame prefix similarities exist in other African groups in the southern and central parts of Africa.
The Luos of Kenya are 'nilotic ' like the Yorubas of Nigeria while Igbos on the other hand are clearly 'bantus' like their more likely relations in the lower central and southern parts of Africa.
Their physical similarities and some traditional nuances mirror the Igbo practices of eastern Nigeria more than the 'luos' who trace their origins to Sudan.
South Sudanese look like the Luos of Kenya while the Igbos of Nigeria look like other bantus in the middle and southern parts of Africa.
Thanks a lot for that detailed information.
