Yes truly igbos of Nigeria and luo of kenya are one same people. The answer lies in the bible. The Igbos are the TRUE descendants of Jacob, they lived in East Africa(Holy land) before the Most High brought them to west Africa in the land of Asshur/Assyria (Hausa) as the Ten Tribes of Jacob along the River AFRA changed to Euphrate by Europeans scholars and called River Niger today. The luo people i believe are reminants of the igbos who returned back to the Holy land from Babylon(Sudan) or Egypt. This discovery further confirms that bible events all took place in Africa,80% in East/Central Africa, 20% in west Africa.

I knew already that the Obama tribe in Kenya is related to the Igbos in Nigeria. When Obama became the president, his stepmother came from Kanya with some gifts, and part of what she gave to President Obama as a King /President, was Oduenyi ( elephant tusk ) then, I also read from one of the big news media online, on all the connecting dots that made up Obama’s roots. The Igbo tribe in Nigeria is part of the dots.
Obama’s ancestors traveled from Nigeria through the northern part of Africa until they finally settled down in Kanya. Remember, when people are migrating, they mix up with another African tribe.

More research is needed to explain the similarities. When Ibos sing the tone is Luo even if you can't hear. There needs to be proper research about the two communities. I'm Kikuyu but I've seen people in Luo spaces here on YT talk about a potential Igbo connection, because their names start with 'O'. I'm fairly good at pattern matching, and don't see it. I'd say that Igbos are closer to Bantu, especially because they're located in South Eastern Nigeria. In fact, I recently discovered that Bette/Bendi languages from SE Nigeria have some Bantu-like words.
I definitely sense some connection between Nilotic languages in Kenya & S. Sudan and those from west and north of Nigeria i.e Mali, Gambia, Guinea, Senegal etc, from listening to their speech patterns. They sound Turkana-ish. I've not found similar words yet though, so I'm guessing the connection might be very ancient i.e from more than a couple thousand years ago, when the Sahara desert was greener.

The story in Luo history that two brothers had to separate bitterly with one going west and the other going East never to meet again..could very well be the thing that Made Igbo go very far..their Ancestors intermarried with many out their making them chnage a little

Whatever similarities in prefixes, the 'O's, the 'Chi's and 'Nwa's are purely coincidental.
Thesame prefix similarities exist in other African groups in the southern and central parts of Africa.
The Luos of Kenya are 'nilotic ' like the Yorubas of Nigeria while Igbos on the other hand are clearly 'bantus' like their more likely relations in the lower central and southern parts of Africa.
Their physical similarities and some traditional nuances mirror the Igbo practices of eastern Nigeria more than the 'luos' who trace their origins to Sudan.
South Sudanese look like the Luos of Kenya while the Igbos of Nigeria look like other bantus in the middle and southern parts of Africa.
