Honestly just the Forehand. It is so satisfying watching throwing a hammer of a forehand but when i try it, it either goes to the left or right... And i woiuld consider myself a decent thrower but the forehand is tuff.... much love :)
Totally. This explains the power pocket so well anyone from beginner to experienced will benefit because a lot of people don’t know this stuff, I know I didn’t know and I’ve been doing this for 2-3 years now
Big "thank you" to Paige. She corrected issues that clinics, lessons, and other TH-cam videos had not addressed. Instead of saying your upper body timing must match your lower body timing, she broke it down and explained to how to make that possible. She deserves a million Christmas cards from disc golfers this year.
Truth! My husband was astonished my throw was SO much improved after ONE video. I watched this like 5 times and practiced the motions at home over and over then went to play with him and blew his socks off! LOL
Sometimes it's really helpful to hear from someone like Paige, who has had to figure out how to squeeze every ounce of power from her throw to get similar distance as the men. She's got probably one of the most technically sound backhands on tour because of that.
This is one of the reasons Paige is a world champion. She thinks about her backhand form while in the grocery store. She is thinking disc golf when her competitors are relaxing.
She's quite good. I saw a putting training with her and Ricky and he was doing all the talking and I just found myself skipping to the rare moments where paige was talking.
damn brodie talked once!!! kelsey has really come so far as far as being able to hold a video and know what needs to be said. shes got a great instinct for sports!!!
This was my favorite breakdown to date of someone explaining the timing aspect of the backhand. I believe this will be more useful to me in practice than any other breakdown of the backhand shot I have seen, thank you Paige for this info!
Paige is not only a world champion she is clearly a fantastic coach. Kelsey is a delight, and I love how she's such a large part of the channel. Also as a former dancer myself, her body control is going to help her so much as she learns proper form.
Definitely! Dance and gymnastic backround make other sports much easier to learn, because They have much better control of their body movement and exspecially the central body.
I was thinking the same exact thing. The hundreds of hours and videos I've watched on form and teachings I've always been under the impression it was the spinning of the hips on the trailing side which gives power. Now to learn its a shift from behind to forward then rotation?
I knew about the elbow when throwing, first I've heard about the hip thing, maybe this will help my timing issue... now to practice. Thank you Paige, Kelsey and Brodie for making this happen, love it.
Hands down the best disc golf tutorial I've seen on TH-cam. Paige's pointers are very specific, actionable, and easy to imagine. We need more videos with tutorials by her!
Thanks for the tutorial. Paige is such a great teacher. Very straight to the point, simple, clear explanation and instruction. I'm a newbie and I'm still learning how to throw mid-range and putter discs.
@Happy Katz thanks for the suggestion. Someone gave me a llight weigh Buzzz that was given out in the tourney. He didn't keep it because it's in 150's, too light for him. It's perfect for me and it has been my top favorite mid range so far. I'm thinking of upgrading to a bit heavier weight in 160's in the near future :D
Best disc golf video you’ve posted. It’s one thing having pros show us how to throw but it’s an entirely different thing having them go over someone’s form who makes the same little errors all newbies do and showing how to correct it. Thanks Paige for taking time out to do it and thanks Kelsey for not being too embarrassed to do it. (And well done on your tournament. That was fantastic and I look forward to seeing more). 🤙
@@stardustie Yeah same here I know for a fact that's what I do because I make a point to try and engage my hips more. Unfortunately in the wrong way though lol.
Paige is a master. I’ve been a teacher for 3 years, and have watched 3 years worth of “how to throw backhand videos,” but this was by far the best video.
Only been playing a little over a year but it’s one of the major joys in my life! This game turns all my bad feelings into good feelings! 😂 all these videos have helped my game so much! Keep slingn’ those discs!
I've watched a bunch of video lessons on youtube explaining how to throw. Paige explained it better than any other video I've seen, I really like how she teaches it.
Kelsey is my spirit animal in this video. I had been bummed out for a few weeks at what seemed like a lack of a legit backhand breakdown video. This just made my day and week and probably far beyond that. Saved to watch it way more times moving forward. Thank you Paige!
Wow, this really explains certain ideas/concepts that so many teachers struggle to articulate. Right towards the halfway mark or 2/3 in she says it so well and concisely that I just wanna go outside and through some disc's even though its pitch black out.
So glad to see this! There are pretty much no tutorials out there for women, and as someone that had a riding lawnmower as a kid, the whole "start a lawnmower" metaphor was not cutting it.
Dang okay! I’m gonna stop trying to reach back all the way and start reaching back till my shoulders are parallel. Thanks, Paige! And thanks for the upload, Brodie!
That second point about the hip hitting at the same time as the elbow is a super super great insight that I don't remember ever seeing before. Really glad I watched this; I'm gonna be thinking about that next time out!
One of the best instructional video's for beginners I've seen especially the tip about speeds for a beginner. Exactly what me and my wife did and couldn't figure out why the disc's went like they did. Now we know.
I’ve been YouTubing like crazy trying to reinvent my backhand the last few months. This has been the most helpful video I’ve seen. It’s like she touched on every point I’ve been stuck on. Awesome!
Finally, advice on timing! I have watched several videos describing the elements of a backhand drive, but never understood how to combine them. Great tutorial!
Thank you for this. I have been watching tutorials for over a year now trying to figure out what I have been missing. The small tip of popping your elbow toward the basket is the best I have heard. Tried it today and my throws were going much further with better accuracy. Thank you Paige and Brodie!
I have watched several videos on how to increase distance since starting disc golf in about June 2020, none of them made a difference, watched this one and now I can throw my backhand further than my forehand for the first time. Thanks for the video, and thanks for the tutorial Paige!
Page is a great instructor......Kelsey is fortunate to have that 10 mins, she really got results right-a-way. I have also learned as I watched and heard the explanation. Thank You
Paige definitely is creat in analyysin the physiology of diskgolf. I did learn a lot from her putting instruction video! Definitely a worth of looking for!
Gained a huge amount of respect for Paige as a teacher after watching this. She explains it in such a natural way that it almost feels like common sense. You can tell she’s taught a ton of people how to throw
Thanks for sharing this! I sharing it with our local women's league group. I like the visualization of the hip to basket. Very similar to what I used to use when working with our women's ultimate time. Don't lock that front leg/knee, keep some bend/flexibility to help with rotation. Locking always sent discs into the air. :D
This is actually great advice for people like me. I played baseball my whole life and when hitting the hips rotating starts the motion, so learning that the hips basically need to be last is a major help
This is EXCELLENT content! I love this collaboration, and I love Paige's communication. It is always awesome to hear someone explain something in a new way, as it might be the best way for someone to process the info. A round with just Paige and Kelsey with Brodie recording. Obviously with PP teaching KS along the way.
Paige had some really great tips! I'd love to see a tutorial on approach shots next!

Her explaining of using your hips in the throw made much more sense than a lot of other videos. Practice time!
