    Great video, as always. My dog eats off of a cutting board. All his ‘treats’ are part of his diet. Frozen pieces of oxtail or pork hock, a nice combo of meat and bone. No cooked meat, no processed food, nothing...

    Life changing, extremely insightful content! The quality of these videos is easily TV publishable and on a high budget production scale. Mariah, you kill it every time. Your attention to detail and level of research never goes unnoticed. Each of these videos pack a punch and should be played in every vet office while we wait to be called in and convinced of how wrong raw feeding is, lol! Vet schools would benefit from your channel too. Thank you for providing this for us. I always look forward to your videos. You deserve the world, seriously! 💗 much appreciated.

    In my country we don't have Starbucks' drive thru and I never understood why people give whipped cream to their dogs, it really isn't healthy for them.
    I agree with all the topics on this video! Recently I've been really worried with whiskers fatigue and can't find a bowl that prevents that and it's antibacterial, I'm going to change to plates too.

    Funny how dogs get whisker fatigue but they like to sniff around in places where their face is in something (bushes, snuffle mats, etc). Maybe it depends on breeds and preferences of the dog but I don't know if this is an issue for most dogs.

    Although i haven't completely started my cat on a raw diet 100%, i stopped the process treats from the start. He only gets raw feeze dried treats now from reputable companies. I don't give him any table craps as a snack either. I give him a little goats milk occasionally as that can be digested easily. There are food toppers that are healthy too including goats milk. I give beef tribe as a treat and freeze dried minnows and freeze dried chicken livers. He loves them and they are so healthy for him. I stopped the kibble and stopped the bad treats and now just need room in my freezer for raw wet food so he can become a completely raw food eater. I am excited to make this change but i am doing it gradually.

    It was fun to go to the pet store and pick out treats for the kittens. Since I switched to raw though they get mostly just freeze dried things like minnows, freeze dried organs or meat, and raw goats milk. They still have one guilty pleasure I feed them which is Inaba Churu since they love it so much. They still do get kibble and wet food on ocassions , only the better kind with no fillers and basically just pure meat. I like to keep them used to it just in case of an emergency in which they can't get raw. Want to make sure they will keep eating.

      It was a too too fast transition. It has to be extra slow. A little raw and his regular food. Gradually taking away completely if thats what you want the highly prossed food and feeding only a prey appropate diet. A flat surface allows for a better relaxed feeding time.

  • @Victory_n_Jesus

    I give others the treat to give Ranger, and just say allergies. No one wants to hurt him, so it helps limits judgement. We actually do raw partly bc of how bad his allergies are.

  • @nicoleleung3518
    @nicoleleung3518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Recently there was a veterinary research paper that came out that did not find any conclusive, statistically significant evidence that whisker fatigue in cats affected their eating habits. Article is by Jennifer Slovak and Taylor Foster. However, might your cats prefer eating from a certain bowl or plate shape (and change their preference at some point for no real reason)? Yes, mine definitely prefer small plates over bowls, basically one step up from the floor. Is this true for a statistically significant number of cats that you need to be worried about it? No, not according to this literature. Plenty of cats and dogs are fine sticking their heads into narrow spaces or bowls and happily eat that way. Every animal has individual quirks, so pay attention to that. Just, buyer beware and don't fall for gimicky "whisker-friendly" products when you could just get a feeding mat or a regular plate.

  • @k.a.t.t1262

    I stoped getting my cats treats when they went fully raw ( once I realized how many unhealthy ingredients were in them). This also helped me make better and healthier options when it comes to my diet as well. When you look at a cart full of meat ( for my cats) and veggies ( for my bunny) junk food just looks odd. I think its important to remember that in order to take proper care of our animals we need to take proper care of our bodies as well. My pets help me remember that. That you for another awesome and informative video :)

  • @wildog47

    I think while it's true the dog doesn't need treats or puppichinos etc I think it really depends on your dog. My dog since being switched to raw can eat ANYTHING. And he doesn't get diahreaa or any upset. The argument is they don't need it. Well most things we eat we don't need. I don't think a small bite here and there of a treat that's not that great but the dog absolutely goes bonkers over is fine. I do agree with you on the bowls (my dog just takes the raw stuff out of the bowl to eat on the floor. I mop after), and the dental sticks have alot of indigestible ingredients and for very large dogs like mine are a choking hazard. (He almost choked on one and I never gave them again). I give all my dogs and cats a bite of food from me. No fat, nothing I would not eat myself. Piece of lean chicken( very small piece. Think quarter sized for my 95lb dog or nickel sized for my cats) they love it and I use it to reinforce their training not to beg. If the sleep on their beds quietly they get a tiny piece when I'm done. If they beggwd they don't get anything. My dog never begs ever. Even tho he's gotten the last bite of food most often for the last 3 years. Again for my dog it works. He's large, and he doesn't get an upset stomach. He was left with my brother and I told him not to leave any food out. He left his daughters SEALED boxes of girl guide cookies on the bench by the door. To go to the grocery store. Kid you not he ate 2.5 boxes if cookies with parts of packages. No diahreaa. No vommiting. No change in behavior at all. Literally toughest stomach out there.

    I respect your opinion and what you’re doing for your pets.
    I understand wanting to prevent GI issues. But it kind of feels like you’re setting a pup up for failure if you never let them eat outside of the strict menu you’ve stuck them to.
    I used to have my pup on a strict BARF diet. Table scraps were a no-no, only dehydrated meat treats, nothing processed.
    What this ended up causing was that she got real bad diarrhea whenever she snagged something off the street, got into a trashcan, found something in the park, or was fed a treat by the vet or another dog owner.
    Once i let her indulge in a table scrap or a generic treat every once in a while she’s never had such a reaction to food slip ups ever again, because her digestive system was prepared.
    I completely understand wanting whats best for your pet though. But isnt this a bit over-bearing? It’s giving me “parent who wont let their kid have sugar” vibes :/
    I still love your videos none the less!

    I have a client that works in a vet's office and she said people that come in that feed raw have a lot of issues with parasites and giardia. How can you prevent this when feeding raw?

    • @PawsofPrey
      @PawsofPrey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This isn't actually very common unless the owner is feeding wild animal meat without taking the proper precautions in eliminating potential parasites. Meat sold for human consumption do not contain parasites. When it comes to giardia, this is most commonly caught by drinking water or ingesting grass/dirt that contains the parasite. Eating wild animal feces can also cause this. Raw fed pets don't need any special deworming or treatment if they're being fed properly prepared raw meats, eggs, and seafood items (store bought, properly frozen, etc)
