My wife and I were on our way back from WI to FL on an extended trip and had a sidewall blowout on I75 about 30 miles north of Tifton, GA H=D. Not a good experience, but called Road America from our HOG membership and soon picked up and taken to Tifton H-D on Labor Day. We were concerned that we would be there for at least a day since they were very busy with their core customers. We did get head of the line when they asked if we were on a trip and they explained it to those waiting in line and all agreed to get us back on the road. All went well and we were thankful they were even open on Labor Day. Perhaps like you explained, "trip interruption" worked for us as well. Thank you.
I have previously owned 2 Indian motorcycles. And now I’m on my second Harley Davidson. I can honestly say that Harley Davison is way more than a motorcycle, you r part of a big family of a lot of things. They sure take care of business.
So my question, as an almost squid...(I mean, newbie, an almost newbie) what is the big benefit here? Granted, I am not in this TH-camrs demographic that I can tell. I'm like two notches of hunting and killing my food and an outhouse situation at all times. I'm looking at ways to stay frugal and improve so I won't retire this way. I have had to learn to repair and troubleshoot complex problems involving mechanical and/electrical on vehicles kind of impoverished. "Have a neighborhood guy fab a piece to slide a grade 11 bolt through to be able to work kind" of situation. What I am trying to ask is, is this the brand to go to if you travel a lot on bikes or find yourself in upper middle class income-to-debt ratio level? (I know a guy that went to five states in a jeep to go see some sights with like $800 within the past 10 years. His income-to-debt ratio was really good...in debt to nothing)
I had a 1986 fxrd bought in 1987 we put over 70,000 miles on the bike many of the miles pulling a trailer. On a trip from Massachusetts to Milwaukee we had some construction debris get caught in the belt and damage the rear pulley. Of course pouring rain! Bike kept going we made it to Cleveland hd. They took us in immediately pulling a local bike off the lift to work on ours. This was a major job to replace belt and pulley on that bike I believe they had to pull the swing arm. Kept the dealership open an hour late to finish the job and offered to have us stay over at the mechanics house! This was in 1993 so the trip interrupted service has been around a long time. On my 7th harley now I'm 74 yrs old wouldn't even consider another brand. My wife and I have been together over 40 yrs and about 300,000miles on Harleys. Never broke down never been stranded. Had 2 bikes over 70,000miles most 30 to 50 thousands.
Wow, I have a 2019 road glide and one of my biggest fears is getting out there on a road trip and being stranded with no help. My insurance company doesn't do road side assistance for motorcycles but I am a HOG full member and have access to one service per year, this information that you just provided is awesome and gives me a better feeling when I start taking road trips. Thanks again for the information.
Five years I was on a solo trip from Florida to California on my 2012 electra glide and the stater went out. No charging l was in trouble. Had an appointment at a harley dealer in Fresno cal. Ended up at the wrong dealership by mistake. They asked me what was wrong . I told them and they called the other dealership and since I was at Mathew harley davidson they would take care of me.they got me right in They changed the stator and he even changed the voltage regulator said they wanted to make sure I made back to Florida . Did all that and washed my bike that day . That's why you buy a harley. Thank you Mathew Harley Davidson I will always remember your Kindness and help to a Traveler.
You are correct brother the extras if you are on a trip and need repairs and have paid for the service most of the time it will help you. However. It is the people. No matter what different walk of life who stop and help another Harley rider in distress. You hear about the bad stuff all the time how we in america are a divided people. Sit a Harley go see America, It is the people who will help. This is the value plus. great video.
I’m so glad you got to things worked out. We all just stood there feeling helpless when it broke down. It’s great to know Harley took care of you in your time of need.
Agreed the big one-ten: this is something that Harley-Davidson NEEDS to shout out to the world. Unknown whether other bike manufacturers have equivalent services, but point of the matter being, HARLEY-DAVIDSON'S PEOPLE KEEP YOU ON THE ROAD. Thank you very much for having detailed the situation, and very much hoping that your home dealership - and those across the planet, really - spread this story far and wide.
Great to hear you were taken care of. I know we pay a pretty penny for our bikes and often wonder why. This far, I’ve been pleased with the service Harley has provided. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my gosh You hardly ever hear of these catastrophic failures on a metric cruiser. I am so spoiled by Japanese reliability that every time I think about buying a Harley I get cold feet just because there are so many of these stories… Thank for sharing 🙏
@@castiron2932 which is EXACTLY!!!! why i ride Ducati !!!! There are so many of those friggin things that you would think that is all that you can buy !!!! My multistrada stands out like dogs balls wherever I park it !!! Over 1/2 million miles on our Ducatis with minimal drama !! HD ? No thanks😀😀🤮🤮🤮🤮🏍🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺
Been there. 2020 street glide broke 500 miles from the house. It was extremely stressful wondering how we are getting home. Especially in todays time. No rentals would allow their car out of state. Thankfully Texarkana Harley worked long hours for two day with a tech working exclusively on our bike. They got it fixed and we were on our way. Vacation was cancelled but so thankful they got us back on two wheels.
I have been riding for 2 years. I have heard of this and used it. I was coming back from Chicago to Tulsa when my bike started making a grinding noise. I stopped in Springfield Missouri and they asked if I was traveling and when I stated I was they rolled my bike right in and got it fixed in a few hours. That was awesome.
Yes!! I had an issue with my throttle during a trip from Atlanta to Key West, Fl. Dealer was amazing and had me in and out in 20 minutes. They were actually closing too....they stayed late to ensure I was back out on the road! Great experience.
I've been riding Harley's since 2002 and I've never heard of trip interruption before. I've also been lucky and never had anything major go wrong with any of the bikes I've had. That includes my 2001 Fatboy. Everyone talks about the chain tensioner going out on the twin cam 88. I had 45,000 on that bike when I sold it and never had a problem. Knock on wood I never have to use trip interruption but it's nice to know it's there. Glad you got good service on the road. I know there's some crappy dealerships out there not really offering the best service but I think most try to help the riders.
I’ve been a “local” rider for a little over 20 years but I am hoping to upgrade to a Touring Harley-Davidson in the future so that I can take road trips. I was well aware of the Harley-Davidson dealer network but after seeing this video, hopefully one day when I can plan a trip I will make certain to use Harley-Davidson dealerships as way points. Glad things worked out for you and thanks for the video.
I have been riding since the mid 60's. I have only owned less expensive bikes that I could afford but I have always wanted a Harley. I have had a Norton, Triumph and a Honda 750 4 cylinder. This info helps me to decide that I will now find a way to buy a Harley. Thank You Very Much!
Aloha from Hawaii! Also travelled 5,000+ miles this past Sept-Oct: Tucson to Tampa then ATL and returned West in I-40 (in my 2015 H-D xl1200 T. After a great visit with friend in Santa Fe I headed South towards Tucson …But my clutch fried 50 miles North of Albuquerque NM. I hobbled into Thunderbird Dealer at 4:30 pm Friday, They got me in and the entire clutch was replaced/repaired by 1:30 pm Saturday. My extended warranty covered the $600 + tab and I wear my “505” Thunderbird hat proudly ! Right on Thunderbird! Nice travel story bro Ken Gonzales
Yes, this was told to me by both my HD and BMW dealers when I bought their MCs. There are some caveats within their programs so, even though offered, not every little thing is covered without cost! thanks for sharing!
Please be aware: you have to pay for this additional coverage as this is not covered under their standard 2 year factory warranty. That being said, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this coverage!!! Great videos brother, keep up the great work!
We have used them a couple times. We tour a lot. And the times you need help happen… the dealers are great, the service managers that “get it” are always priceless. Pete
I had a 2015 SGS on ride through Arizona on the way to New Mexico from California when my gear shift spline went out and I couldn't get a tow out the the location that I broke down. I contacted Grand Canyon HD and told me to get it in before they closed and they would take care of me. Left with few options I managed to ride it about 30 miles through the hills to while shifting gears by kicking my heel on the lever that moves the gear shift linkage instead of the gear shift lever (Scary). I made in about 5 minutes till they closed and they took my bike right in and fixed it in about 40 minutes, under warranty. A big thumbs up for them working over to take care of a traveling HD rider.
I just bought my 3rd Harley and have never heard of this. My 1st bike the front wheel bearings went out on my way to trade it in on a new bike. The dealer said if I can get it to them they would fix it. (Thanks for the help asholes) I just bought a 2021 Street Glide Special and I'm planning a trip from ND to TX this summer. I will definitely be checking this out before I leave. Thank you!
Wow, thanks for the info. I did not know about that. Way to go Harley and I’ve been buying my bikes from thunderbird and just recently purchased 2021 SG special. Loving every mile of it.
I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR SAYING ABOUT HARLEY SECRETS , I THINK THE BIGGEST SECRET THEY HAVE IS NOT TELLIMG THE BUYER OF EARLIER MODELS OF THE TWIN CAM 88 IS THE CAM CHAIN TENSIONERS WEARING OUT AT 30,000 MILES BEFORE IT DESTROYS THE ENGINE .THANK YOU .
I’ve taken my bike only once to a Harley-Davidson dealership. They called me and said job is done, but I have a nail on my back tire. $500+ extra. When I got home I noticed the drive belt was loose as hell. The primary front housing bolts where loose also. I guess they wanted me to visit them again
I bet your clutch problem was the transfer issue that is common on the hydraulic clutch bikes. Basically your transmission fluid migrates to the primary. You have shifting issues as your transmission oil transfers to the chaincase. Your transmission goes low on oil and is destroyed in extreme cases. Probably the reason for the first problem. Thanks for sharing, liked and subscribed.
This should not happen. I own a different brand bike from one of the most reliable manufacturers. It's an 1800cc twin and its 21 years old now. I have never serviced the clutch, ever and have never had a single issue. I might have gone along a different path 30 years ago when I was an E-3 going into San Diego HD to buy a Sportster and they would not give me the time of day. I was a ghost as salesmen brushed past as I tried to get help. I had drunk the HD cool aid and was willing but that brush off changed my riding path. I bought a bike from one of the big 4 and put 39,000 miles on it in 2.5 years until the clutch cable popped on the way to work and I traded it in. Flawless reliability. After discharge I scratched that itch again and bought some original Triumphs and BSA's made a hobby of keeping them running I found that certain 4 manufacturers always delivered bikes that simply ran every time and they never left me stranded, ever. I stopped beating my head on the wall of British motorcycle ownership and HD treatment of a paying customer killed any desire for me. I want a bike to ride, not a lifestyle or a costume to wear. It takes a certain tenacity to buy bikes that are less than dependable I would know. It's simply not something I want to deal with any longer.
Yes, I was told about it when I purchased my bike from Southern Thunder H-D. I busted my oil cooler on my trip to Sturgis, in 2020. Black Hills H-D had my bike fixed the next morning. I was grateful for the quick repair.
In the process of buying two bikes , 2008 fat Bob for me and 2018 48 special for my wife, will look into this when we finalize all the paperwork. Great video, learned a lot .
Thanks for the information. I've had my 2017 street glide since it was new. I've never had any problems in almost 37,000 miles. I live in Montana. It's good to know about trip interruption.
Glad your “Trip Interruption” was honored. Some dealerships near me in Northern Illinois will tell you “tough luck”. Also if it’s a major rally, you may be out of luck. Just keep that in mind. Everyone is on a trip. I have had luck with it in other areas. 4 Rivers H-D in Paducah, KY was solid on that for me though. Replaced brackets on an 05 Road King Custom in 30 minutes to get me rolling again.
First time hearing about trip interruption. Thank you. I was able to use my dealership’s VIP plan at a sister dealership (Rawhide) in Kansas for my 5k checkup while traveling from AZ to MN.
Never heard of it and I have ridden Harleys for 24 years. Thanks for the information. Fortunately, I have ridden various Harleys from Virginia Beach to 49 of the 50 states and all but one province in Canada and have only had one incident needing their service and that was in Daytona Beach in 2000.
I have owned and ridden several Harley Davidson baggers over the years and had a problem while on a trip and the HD dealer just outside Ashville North Carolina put me at the front of the line because I was traveling. However, I did not know about the "trip interruption" information you passed along in this video. Good information.
First i have to thank you for Sharing. Secnd. i think as a german Guy , that this is a Thing many companies here in Europe know very little about. Harley is great and absolutely worth the Money.
That’s the big reason I choose a H-D as far as what touring bike to get. The Dealer network is extensive. As far as warranties go. I got the extended warranty, the maintenance warranty, and the tire replacement warranty. ALL well worth the dough. I’ve used them and believe me they have paid for themselves.
I have a 21 Tri glide that I bought 3 months ago. I have got 1900 miles on it. I just found out about this a week ago. I have not had a problem but I heard about this and I am like you, they need to let new owners in on this info. I have had 3 HD bikes in the last 4 years and 2 have been new. I am glad I know this now.👍 ❤️ HD. 😀
Some things are not spoken about . I think everyone would be saying trip interruption to get to the front of the line . Great info to know . Somethings you can’t prevent but , if you depend on your dealer for service get it in well in advance of your trip . Good to hear positive info . Thanks!
That is great to know, hope I never need to use it but glad it's there for the taking. Now I hope it's not just for bikes under warranty. Thanks for sharing and ride safe!!!
That is something they should use when you are buying a bike. Wonder if its all dealers or just a chosen few. One time on a trip my Ducati picked up a nail. Drove it to the nearest dealer (a Suzuki Dealer), and asked if they could fit me in, I was on a trip. They took it back right away. I love great customer service.
I had to stop twice for repairs while on the road. I knew Harley would responded fast as they did. We lost our return spring for shifting in WY Devils Tower 65 mile down the road was Gillette HD. Got there first and was put head of the line. They stored our trailer took us to a hotel. They finished repairs at 6 pm that night Picked us us at the hotrl got us on thevrosd again 2nd time was leaking oil. Durango HD took us in found the filter was bent. Replaced it on the road again in an hour. Wish I knew about the other benefits the interruption
I didn’t know…I have owned my first bike, a Harley, for 5 months lol. But I swear I had a feeling because the guys at gator Harley in Florida totally and happily educated me, tolerated my many questions and fixed some things on my used bike like it was important to them. It’s been a great experience, tons of people saying hello and compliments on the bike. I didn’t know about the willingness to prioritize a rider on a big trip, but I might have guessed that this is true just from the way I have been made to feel like my first experience be a really positive one.
Glad Thunderbird took care of you. They’re my local HD dealership and the staff is good there. I scoot over there quite often. I do travel long-distance and I am aware of this hidden gem of a Harley benefit but I have never had a need to take advantage of that. Thunderbird is also willing to work on my 02 Electra Glide if the need ever arises. We also have several really good Indy shops in town who are equally willing to help travelers move down the road….
I have a different experience with a Harley Davidson dealer. It is a very good one. I was looking around for someone to tune my bike. I needed a custom tune not a canned tune. I could not find a shop to do it. The problem is I ride a Honda. Loess Hills Harley Davidson did a custom tune on it. I was shocked that a Harley Davidson dealer would work on a Honda. The tune gave me 10% more horsepower. I pick the bike up from the dealership tomorrow.
Yes on and yes. it has happened and yes I had HOG pick up my bike in 45 mins and on its way to Horny Toad Harley and it was a transmission rebuild. they got me a car to get back home or i could have waited in town and they took care of everything now the reimbursement took time you had to file with a 3rd party that handles that for Harley but it got done . to my knowledge its always been called Traveler. and they move you to the front of the line. They have a entire transmission flown from Wisconsin over the weekend and installed . now yes Harleys are expensive, but its those times you need them they are there. they handled everything with the MOCO" Motor Company" they guys are the dealership were great so Shout out to Honry Toad Harley Davidson. so if you got a problem just say your a traveler. and your moved to the front of the line. sucks if your not a traveler but just gotto roll with it. it could be you traveling one day and have a problem.
That’s awesome! Glad you are back in 2….I think the HOG membership has trip interruption or something similar for folks out of warranty. I have kept my membership for years.
I will say the dealer support is a benefit for HD. They make sure they charge you for it, but most dealers will work to get you back on the road when on a trip.
I was on a group trip with my Buell and my stator went out. Pulled into a Harley/Buell dealer and they got me in right away. I decided to rent a bike because we would be coming back the same route. It took them 5 days to diagnose, order the part, and install. It is too bad other vehicle dealers do not have this travelers first practice. Something else to consider, how often do people visit their dealer for no reason what so ever and then look at a Harley dealer. Maybe other manufacturers can learn something from Harley.
Yep, that's what makes a company great, when their customers no matter where from are a number one priority. The Harley Davidson corporation must tell it's employees to spread this " WE ARE CUSTOMER FREINDLY AND THIS IS OUR POLICY " and how it works to all Harley owners and this will sell more Harley cycles. Someone should come up with the idea of when you purchase a used Harley you can also purchase a warranty per year to repair your cycle in any dealer within the United States and the warranty can be purchased individually for a example ( Engine , Transmission , Brakes , Clutch repair including clutch disks and etc. ) , this warranty will be offered to Harley owners , again this warranty can be purchased by the owner as to what part of the cycle should be warrantied for service, or a warranty for any service done on a Harley where it will cover a certain percentage of the bill. When customers are a companies number one priority the companies reputation will be number one. I'm still looking for that first Harley and so far at my age the Heritage will be my second soul mate.
I'm also looking at my first HD! I test rode the heritage classic and the low rider and i really liked the classic. I currently ride a goldwing and a versys 1000. Best of luck to you!
Did not know that, great information 👍 have 2 harley a sport glide 2019 put 30k on it and a Road Glide 2020 put 10k on it this year, nice to know live in New York this year New Hampshire, Tennessee, Sturgis, Yellowstone and Montana. Will come in handy thank you. From a old guy on a motorcycle
Back in the carbie days, before a road trip I had my HD Sportser serviced by a HD dealer, which included a Factory recall on the rubber diaphram inside the carbi. The bike started to play up (engine stalling every 15 minutes or so) at about 250km out. I struggled into a country town at about lunch time where there was a Honda dealership but no Harley dealership. Knowing I was on a road trip the Honda dealership service manager said the mechanics are at lunch but he would have them look at the bike 1st thing when they get back. Within 1 and half hours I was back on the road. The HD dealership had incorrectly installed the replacement diaphram (installed it back-to-front). I was charged a small fee which I was able to successfully claim back from the HD dealer.
@@artmchugh5644 Back then I was a fan of the Honda ST1100 sports tourer. Honda provided one for a test ride at a track day I attended, and I really enjoyed the way it handled and hitting 200kph on the straight was a real buzz.
@@jonyoung6405 was on a 4 corners tour on my Suzuki in 1987 ,in Montana my rear brake was getting odd , at the hotel early Sunday morning I found a bad rear wheel bearing. The worker at the hotel knew the owner of the only motorcycle shop in Glasgow. He got ahold of Scott , he said that he was on his way to church and to get my wheel off and he would come by after!! I had DYMAG wheels on the bike so I was not sure if he would have any trouble. He found a bearing and installed it, gave me a bit of grease for the axle !!! 35 DOLLARS !!!! back on the way late morning!!!! YES !! GREAT HONDA PEOPLE 😂😂😂😂🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍😁😁😁🍺🍺🍺🍺
what a great video, Thanks bro. We are from Africa and have done 13000 miles and 37 states and on the few brake downs that we have had HD has always had us running in an hour or two. Never waited for service. Not sure if it works here in South Africa but keen to find out Keep those videos rolling
Im thinking about buying a Harley and I just learned about this. The guy at the Harley shop said that if they can they will take a part off an available bike to get u back on the road, so u don’t have to wait on it being shipped
Wow...Glad your bike is back...In Sept I saw Primary Fluid Leaking, wasn't too bad, took bike in 10/27, finally got word 11/02 that trans had to be rebuilt, and the main shaft was also bad - part on back order...so yesterday I drove 185 miles round trip, to get part from a dealer, and bring it out to my guy...hopefully bike will be back home soon...it sucks that parts are OOS all over, but I was able to find one 60 miles from my house...its getting cold here. and riding season is almost over, but want to get her home before the snow fly's...
Dang! Glad you found your part. I agree, the shortage on parts is concerning, especially during the off-season when people are scheduling upgrades. Stay safe 🤙🏻
I really hope this is international. Currently in the middle of a road trip. Only about 1100 miles, but still a long way from home. Also a 2020 road glide special. Hoping Aussie dealers do this as well. 👍
I was at Biketoberfest in Daytona when the engine light came on. There were of course thousands of bikes there. The dealership made early hours for those of us with unexpected issues. It turned out to be nothing but, I was in at 730MA out at 800AM.
I've never heard it called that before, but I know if you break down on a Harley that they will try to get you fixed up, and in and out as quickly as they can if your broke down and traveling, it happened back in June with my brother Wes while we were on the Blue ridge parkway, and hey, what a awesome party at the KRIVER campground brother💯👊🏽😎
I didn't know this thanks for the info. The dealership i purchased my HD also gives a life time warranty on the motor as long as you get any upgrades to the motor threw Harley Davidson dealership.
Wow, I hope HD co is watching ur channel because you send them a bunch of guys 👍🏼💪🏼. I own Indian, love my bike but when I had a trouble on a road trip couple years ago and Indian dealeaships are so far in between as well on the west Coast, so you don’t have much help around , it make you second choice your decision. My next bike will be back to HD for sure. Thank for the info brother.
The get you rt in on a road trip is great. We were rolling back to northwest indiana from Colorado. We were pulling into our hotel and I noticed something white on my buddy’s tire. Needless to say it was the threads coming through. We went to dealer next day a Saturday and they got us rt in and there was a Canadian guy on a 25000 trip needing oil change and tires and they got him in as well. The dealer was in central Iowa and looked like silos. They were great. I think Big barn HD
I guess for me....as being a motorcycle enthusiast..the only way I could ride. Was to be mechanical inclined..each motorcycle I owned. .got shop manual. And fournate to have automotive and heavy-duty mechanical background..transfer my skills..I have 96 softail and 05 twin cam softail..got the twin cam dirt cheap 18k miles. Probably 3k in chrome add on s...I had to upgrade the inner cam bearings..and just upgrade the cam tensioner pads...and the upgrade the primary chain tensioner..I like older Harleys..carburetor and simple mechanical design..my 96 softail upgrade inner cam bearing. And lifters...am on the fence for open primary set up...but it's obvious to ride..you must adapt..new bikes are not really set up for what you can do like the older ones..new have to many computer sensors and must depend on dealer support...but unfortunately not to many people are much mechanical inclined..but that's ok..they're probably leaning towards a bike with network of support..I believe as time goes on..older old school bikes will be fewer and less popular..but will undoubtedly be treasured for the old days...I just enjoy working on them sometimes more then riding them..there like a living machine to me. And I'm the heart surgeon...
This is the main reason I went back to Harley. I shopped for a new bike. I considered an Indian. I used to commute on a Bmw. And a yamaha. My ride to work is 400 miles in the Gulf coast. Eight harley dealers and independents along the way. One Bmw dealer, one indian dealer. Parts avalability for other bikes on the road is tough. Metric bike dealers are not very accommodating to travelers . Harley has always gone out of their way. Tires, services and the rare breakdown. Even just Dyi in their parking lot for repairs.
We've used trip interuption a few times before in years past. However, that does not work when you go to Sturgis and something happens because there are so many people that have issues they backup for days and its first come first serve. I ended up with a waterpump failure and luckily had tools to fix it in the garage of the rental our group had.
Got a flat on Sunday morning Susquehanna harley in Harrisburg Pa owners son picked my bike up on highway and called in a tech cause service was closed just to get me back on the road for my trip.
I'm a certified Harley and Honda motorcycle mechanic. I've ridden an evo sportster all over the country with no problems . Yet the Eight Harley is not nearly as reliable. They are fraught with problems. I prefer my metric motorcycles, find them far less expensive to maintain as well as more reliable.
I’ve rode metrics my whole life and yes they cost a lot less to maintain. In 2012 I caved to my lust for the HD Fatboy since it’s birth in 1990, and special ordered my 2012 Fatboy Lo in Denim Black, which was the first yr the Fatboy actually got fatter with the 103 twin , 200 mm rear tire and a wider frame to accommodate the wider birthing. I still own and love this bike and the fact that I have a Fatboy means that I’m probably much higher now in social circles ( Hey I gotta Harley!) But I have a Yamaha VStar 1100 that’s loud with V and H pipes, rejetted carbs with a Kuryakin hypercharger that gives another 8 percent boost in power and Man this Thing will scream, I take it on out of state road trips with the wife because it’s setup for 2 up riding w/passenger boards and custom luggage designed for this particular setup, Anyway, it did not take me long to learn just regular maintenance is a lot higher on the Fatboy then the Yamaha which I also love. As for the Fatboy? It’s not going anywhere, I’ve grown accustom to the status quo it gives me , even if it’s just in my head !
Very good to know for sure thank you. My question would be why are the are The Harley’s stacking up at the dealership and why is an almost new Road glide breaking down in the first Place since I just bought a 21 road Glide limited? Thank you
Earlier this yr. on my way back to Ohio I got a flat tire in Massachusetts. I got the phone number for HOG (I was pretty sure I wasn't a member anymore) and gave them all of the details. Sure enough I wasn't a member but they helped me arrange a tow to the local Harley dealer. I called the dealer and gave them a heads up about my situation. They said we will get it replaced but it will take awhile. Well about 3-4 hrs. latter they were done. I was happy and on the road again. At my local Harley dealer several yrs. ago a fellow brought his bike in. He was passing through on a road trip. They put him up towards the front of the line and he was happy.
You buy a Harley because this is a motorcycle soaked with history and legend! Sure it has its quirks, and sometimes reliability issues, but on the whole, the machines are bulletproof and will get you coast to coast with out a hassle!!! Once you ride one, you’ll never get that shit eating grin off your face! Ride free, my brother… and sister!!!!

Now that’s an awesome story. Thank you for sharing. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
Thanks for watching William. I’m glad the info was useful. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
All we face this fears on long trips ...and the end of the day we rest with happy smile.. mostly for me goes away after 3 day of ridding..
Five years I was on a solo trip from Florida to California on my 2012 electra glide and the stater went out.
No charging l was in trouble. Had an appointment at a harley dealer in Fresno cal. Ended up at the wrong dealership by mistake. They asked me what was wrong . I told them and they called the other dealership and since I was at Mathew harley davidson they would take care of me.they got me right in
They changed the stator and he even changed the voltage regulator said they wanted to make sure I made back to Florida . Did all that and washed
my bike that day .
Well said man. Totally agree! 🤙🏻
Y-pipe broke on a road trip. The dealer stayed past closing time to get me back on the road. I feel ya !!!!
Great to hear you were taken care of. I know we pay a pretty penny for our bikes and often wonder why. This far, I’ve been pleased with the service Harley has provided. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my gosh
You hardly ever hear of these catastrophic failures on a metric cruiser.
I am so spoiled by Japanese reliability that every time I think about buying a Harley I get cold feet just because there are so many of these stories…
Thank for sharing 🙏
Thanks for watching. 🤙🏻
More Harleys on interstate travel than your sports bike
I differ to beg. Indian, a metric wonder, has had many quality control issues. Polaris is awful to deal with when it comes to warranty repairs.
@@artmchugh5644 i was pointing out more bikes on the road more repairs. Simple math. I dont care if you ride a moped, just be safe enjoy the ride.
Glad to hear you were taken care of. Thanks for sharing your story. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
So cool. Thanks for sharing this story Keith. I’m pretty impressed with HD’s service lately. 🤙🏻
I hobbled into Thunderbird Dealer at 4:30 pm Friday,
They got me in and the entire clutch was replaced/repaired by 1:30 pm Saturday. My extended warranty covered the $600 + tab and I wear my “505” Thunderbird hat proudly !
Right on Thunderbird!
Nice travel story bro

So awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing this situation. I truly feel a lot of people are unaware of the uptick in service through HD. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
I have known about "preferred" treatment at service during trip, have had a few friends take advantage of it - massive time saver. Love my Road Glide.
Oh man I would’ve never known! Thanks for sharing!
It definitely blew me away. Hopefully the word gets out to others. 🤙🏻
Great info! This will be a factor when buying my next bike. Thanks for putting this out.
Your welcome. I appreciate you watching. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
I just bought my 3rd Harley and have never heard of this.
My 1st bike the front wheel bearings went out on my way to trade it in on a new bike. The dealer said if I can get it to them they would fix it. (Thanks for the help asholes)
I just bought a 2021 Street Glide Special and I'm planning a trip from ND to TX this summer.
I will definitely be checking this out before I leave.
Thank you!
Wow, thanks for the info. I did not know about that. Way to go Harley and I’ve been buying my bikes from thunderbird and just recently purchased 2021 SG special. Loving every mile of it.
Thanks for watching Thanos (There’s a sentence I never thought I would say! Lol). Thunderbird is an amazing dealership. Ride safe out there. 🤙🏻
Yep that’s the correct technical term. Clutch fluid flush thingy.
That’s good info. Thank you for sharing and welcome to the channel Bruce. I appreciate you. 🤙🏻
Thanks for the info ! Just bought a new Harley a month ago and they never mentioned this to me ! Good to know !
Thanks for watching Adolfo. Ride safe out there.
Yes, I was told about it when I purchased my bike from Southern Thunder H-D. I busted my oil cooler on my trip to Sturgis, in 2020. Black Hills H-D had my bike fixed the next morning. I was grateful for the quick repair.
Thanks for watching glide_Arkansas and I appreciate you sharing this story. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
In the process of buying two bikes , 2008 fat Bob for me and 2018 48 special for my wife, will look into this when we finalize all the paperwork. Great video, learned a lot .
Awesome! Congrats on the new bike purchases. Ride safe and thanks for watching. 🤙🏻
Thanks for the information. I've had my 2017 street glide since it was new. I've never had any problems in almost 37,000 miles. I live in Montana. It's good to know about trip interruption.
Thank you for the information brother. I never heard of this!!!!!! I will definitely share! Ride safe.
Thanks Walter! I appreciate you. 🤙🏻
Never heard of it and so glad I came across your video!
Glad this helped Douglas. 🤙🏻
Glad you shared this, i also bought a new bike and this was never discussed. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, I would see how it would be tough at a major rally. So far, I’ve been highly impressed. I hope it’s a sign of good things to come for Harley. 🤙🏻
I appreciate you watching Bruce.
Had no idea about this. I agree that this should be a selling point. Thanks for the information.
I am glad I know this now.👍
❤️ HD. 😀
New info for me and my 2021 FLHXS…Thanks for the info!
Some things are not spoken about . I think everyone would be saying trip interruption to get to the front of the line . Great info to know . Somethings you can’t prevent but , if you depend on your dealer for service get it in well in advance of your trip . Good to hear positive info . Thanks!
I have a 2000 road glide and I love it for 20 years.
Hello My Friend, thanks for this info, I had no idea about this. Merry Christmas!
That is great to know, hope I never need to use it but glad it's there for the taking. Now I hope it's not just for bikes under warranty. Thanks for sharing and ride safe!!!
I believe it’s for all, but I’m not 100% sure.
Yes I heard of this service, it was explained to me when I bought my 2021 heritage in March.
They finished repairs at 6 pm that night
Picked us us at the hotrl got us on thevrosd again
2nd time was leaking oil.
Great info man! Thanks for sharing. Thunderbird HD did an outstanding job. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
Great video I have been looking into buying a Harley and this is big key factor thank you
Thanks Jon, I appreciate you watching.
Good to hear. Thanks for sharing. 🤙🏻
Great info brother. You The Man!!! Thanks...
Glad everything was handled so well. I knew you were having issues at KRiver but didn’t realize the extent of it.
Wow, I never have heard about this trip interruption deal, either! That is a great policy and Harley should tout it more.
Thanks for watching Chuck. 🤙🏻
I never knew that. Wow. I will keep that in my back pocket forever now mate. Great video FTH. 👍
Thanks man. I so surprised that this is not advertised more. Ride safe brother. 🤙🏻
Man, thanks for the info, I was not aware of that commitment to service from HD thanks.
Not a bad idea. Thanks for watching. 🤙🏻
I'm also looking at my first HD! I test rode the heritage classic and the low rider and i really liked the classic. I currently ride a goldwing and a versys 1000. Best of luck to you!
Great information to know. Thanks for sharing this hidden gem. 👍👊
Thanks for watching HDVIBE. 🤙🏻
Did that make you think about getting a Honda ??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🏍🏍🏍🏍
@@artmchugh5644 Back then I was a fan of the Honda ST1100 sports tourer. Honda provided one for a test ride at a track day I attended, and I really enjoyed the way it handled and hitting 200kph on the straight was a real buzz.
Good Honda people.

yep 80000 broke cluch cable in Utah a dealer was close enough for me to limp back and get fixed.
what a great video, Thanks bro. We are from Africa and have done 13000 miles and 37 states and on the few brake downs that we have had HD has always had us running in an hour or two. Never waited for service. Not sure if it works here in South Africa but keen to find out
Keep those videos rolling
lol great video!!! FYI INDIAN HAS TRIP INTERRUPTION ALSO..... for those of us on the other side
@Dick Weed lol. True
If I had a new Harley Davidson woud be something to think about. Most of my riding now is local. 1983 FXWG, bought new.
Didn’t know that great to know great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Jim. I appreciate you. 🤙🏻
Couldn't agree more. IMHO Shorts are a stain on the Underpants of Social Media. Love your work Ryan, you are our inspiration. @ThatHarleyCouple
The large dealer network and the trip interruption are large reasons why I purchased one
It definitely saved me. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the Valuable information you have provided! Wish Harleydavidson would let the consumer know this shit!!😎
I love the nostalgic 50s look
Got a flat on Sunday morning Susquehanna harley in Harrisburg Pa owners son picked my bike up on highway and called in a tech cause service was closed just to get me back on the road for my trip.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. I appreciate you sharing this story as well. Ride safe. 🤙🏻
Very nice. Should be the standard way of conducting business regardless of the manufacturer.
Very good to know for sure thank you.
My question would be why are the are
The Harley’s stacking up at the dealership and why is an almost new
Road glide breaking down in the first
Place since I just bought a 21 road

Very well said! I completely agree with you. Ride safe and thanks for watching.
Never heard of this whatsoever .. just linked this video to my son who rides a 2019 Road Glide Special #liked #subscribed #Bell
Thanks! I appreciate you watching and for sharing. Ride safe.
