I am convinced that Mr. Willink would be a great *47th President of the United States* 👍 With his great leadership skills and experience, his motivational magnetism and his high-grade military background he is perfect to push forward. And also the perfect line of defense. Against left-wing media.
@@gluecksdrache2054 Thing is, politicians who tell the truth never win. Politics is literally a job that incentivises dishonesty no matter which group you look at. This is why you can never get a great politician cause they all had to lie out of their asses to get into that position in the first place.
I made every second count when I was a young Private in the US Army. When I got out, I let all the discipline and everything I had worked for slip away and here I am a decade later, weak, anxiety ridden, afraid of the world. No more of this. I know I'm capable of so much more and the things Jocko talks about and the way he talks about them has re-ignited some fire in me so thank you for that Jocko, thank you so much! It's entirely on me now to stay committed and stop wasting my life and make something of it!
I wasn't in the military like you, but I also used to have a lot of discipline in my life working out twice a day, eating healthy, studying every day, ignoring distractions, but like you said: it slipped away from me with one misstep after the other and eventually I let go of my discipline. You and I both know what we need to do: Get back on the path and use as many of our precious seconds to build ourselves rather than decay.
The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson illustrates this point heavily. Every moment we're either growing or decaying. The big results in life are a result of small incremental positive actions compounded over time.
If you haven't read Jocko's book, "Discipline Equals Freedom: A Field Manual", I highly suggest that you get it. This is the book that will get you off your ass and get you on a healthy path, mentally, emotionally, spiritually(for me). Seriously, get to it. It is life changing.
Just want to say, thanks for your advice videos, Jocko. I struggle with discipline and productivity all the time and slip up a lot. Your clips from the 2-hr podcasts either motivate me to try harder or put the problem in a different light so that I don't keep slamming myself against a brick wall. Thanks for what you do and please keep doing it!
This is why meditaiton is key to see the highest degrees of your potenital so you maximise good and minimise decay. The state of mind is most important. However there are mostly neutral seconds, where you are neither decaying nor doing good. Just in the middle. (btw i would count any form of meditation / mantras / being meditative in nature etc. as doing good for you are optimising your mind to be a vehicle of good.)
Jocko, I'm serious, no joke. We need honourable, disciplined leadership in the Whitehouse. Please consider NOW the idea of entering the 2020 primaries. You might think, "I'm not an insider, not a politician." That doesn't matter. Outsiders can and do win. #Jockopres2020
Rome wasn't constructed in a single day, and it didn't crumble overnight either. While building something meaningful may pose daily challenges, occasional failures are inevitable. However, it's crucial not to dwell on past setbacks. If you dwell on yesterday's missteps, you risk losing the motivation to push forward today. Remember, one setback doesn't define your entire journey; it's merely a step backward. By focusing on your target and consistently taking steps in that direction, you can make meaningful progress. So, set your sights, step confidently, and pursue your goals relentlessly. Now get up and go, go get after them!
gaining ground? GOOOOOOD. losing ground? GOOOOOOD. typing on utube? GOOOOOOOD. Echo Charles? GOOOOOD. heart explodes? GOOOOOD. love jocko? GOOOOOOD. Freedom copulates with Discipline? GOOOOD. Copulates is a weird word? GOOOOOD. JuJitsu is never the wrong answer? GOOOOOD. Love to say gooooood? GOOOOOOD.
TEMP Q: Jocko, what do you think about when you don't feel like getting after it? A: You know, I put this out the other day and I think it’s important, alright? So, Rome wasn’t built in a day. We all know that, everyone hears that. But Rome also didn’t fall apart overnight either. It took hundreds of years for Rome to reach its peak, but it also took time-hundreds of years-for Rome to decay and fall apart. And that is representative of life because you don’t achieve worthwhile goals quickly or easily. They take time, they take struggle, they take relentless pursuit day in and day out. That’s what it takes. But also things don’t usually fall apart quickly either, at least at first. It’s a slow process-a little slip here, a little setback over there, a little wearing down of discipline and will over time. That’s the thing: success and failure are generally slow processes. Either slowly building things up… or gradually tearing them down. And that's why I say you’ve got to pay attention. You have to watch, you have to watch _every… single… second._ Because those seconds, they turn into minutes, then minutes turn into hours, and hours turn into days, and days turn into years. And so that second-that second that just went by-that counted. And so did that second, and so did that one. And in those precious seconds you are either building or you’re decaying. You are either gaining ground or you are losing ground. In that second, and in every second. _Every… second… counts._ So _make… every… second… count._
"you are either gaining ground, or you are losing ground" #wwj(ocko)d Echo... you should make bracelets that say that and put get after it on the opposite side...
One thing I don't understand. Jocko has the Musters, but the only people that can afford it, already are leaders and have money. Leaders are needed in the poor communities way more than anywhere. Especially in the inner city. Why are there no "Musters" for those people? No "leadership" training for them? Question that I've been wondering about since I started following Jocko and Echo, years ago now.
@hojo1074 I'm working on it. You wouldn't believe the push back. Just look at Trump. Guy has the lowest unemployment for blacks and Hispanics of any president ever and look at the shit he gets. He's a billionaire and can't do it alone. Working together is the only way to own this problem.
Wonder if he would interview the late, great highly decorated USMC General Smedley Darlington Butler if he were still alive? Philosophical thoughts determine our destiny sometimes. Let’s make every second count for the survival of a true Republic; and NOT for an international Corporate Oligarchy. The choice is ours and it is urgent!
I know this podcast was done 4 yrs ago, but what is being said by Jocko here applied very much today 2022 for America NOW. Many in America are not paying attention, very complacent. Very apathetic. Our country is SLOWLY DYING!! Very sad to see. Now in 2022 now!
Jocko is a national treasure.
