"But then I remembered something that was in my garbage can." I don't think I've ever heard anything that more accurately describes me as a crafter ◑.◑
Frostgrave is a great game. It's what got me back into painting minis and gaming after a 20 plus year break. Those treasure tokens are on point. Keep up the great work!
I made my treasure tokens chests/sacks. I think that is thematically appropriate, as it explains encumberance and why you don't know what it is until later. However, having tried using them I realised it is helpful to have something very visible. I guess that's why piles of gold work well!
He asked the Boy!!!!! Miscast terrain led me to yout channel in the first place! I owe my hobby to that guy! So glad that you recognized him as i would love to see him more often!
I made my treasure tokens with: flat wooden discs (from Michael's) with a big spooge of hot glue, lego weapons (from LOTR sets), plastic jewels (also from Michael's) and glitter. I pressed the weapons and jewels into the glue while it was still warm, covered the rest of the disc in white glue and sprinkled glitter. Once dry, I hit them with a black wash and highlighted with gold glitter paint. I finished them with clear nail polish to make everything shiny and keep the glitter from falling off.
Omg these intros are so good! Love cinematic style and production values. Watching your channel grow to ever increasing levels of quality is such an inspiration for me as a creator! Great work (as always).
The opening and the editing in this video are fantastic. Really show you improving and growing in your video creation, and these treasure tokens are awesome. Great work Jeremy!
Genius on priming the washers! I primarily use 1 inch fender washers for all my single based skirmish gaming figures...I've always had issues with adding basing material. Thanks again!
Amazing as always. Man I wish I had some friends who would enjoy Frostgrave as much as I do.Oh yeah - - - and the terrain and know-how that you have!!!!
Love the look of your setup and the easy with which you can add or subtract pieces. The tokens are versatile depending upon the base. Thanks for the look at you house as well.
Nothing wrong with using pre-made detritus. I have a drawer full of the stuff for just this purpose. Snow techniques were great to see on the small bases. Well done. Enjoyed this vid.
Haven't got around to finishing my bone wheel yet, but I purchased some 1 dollar plastic dinosaur skeleton toys from Menards. Chopping them up, gluing them into a wheel shape and using craft twine as decoration on the joints.
Awesome looking tokens! I would love to get a chance to play Frostgrave with your group. I have been trying to set up Frostgrave games with the local wargaming groups at Game Knight and with my friends for months, but the only thing I've been able to do is a single learning-game on Tabletop Simulator
One suggestion I have for taking them a step further is to get a sheet of the adhesive backed felt and attach it to the underside of the tokens, then use some paint to number them. Haven't played in a while, but I seem to remember there being a few scenarios where numbering the tokens is pretty much needed.
Think what he meant is after getting the treasures a dice is rolled and the number is used to know what treasure was found. Have to make a little flash card saying the sword is num 1 the two bottles are num 2 ect. Might just be easier to just write a number on the bottom.
But that’s not how treasure collection/roll up works after. Each token collected you roll on a table for the contents after games. The treasures aren’t numbered. There will sometimes be special treasures with unique contents but again you don’t need a number for that, just any identifier which these have.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial Think I watched that game on here the other poster was talking about. Can't remember what channel it was though. They had 6 treasure tokens and 2 had something extra attached to them. I think one of the players got one and the other remained unclaimed. Not sure if it's just something they cooked up themselves or not. But it is kind of an interesting concept perhaps. Might change the dynamics of the game to maybe more ruthless bloody gameplay and tactics.
What an epic intro! Love the sneaky tour of Chez Jeremy on the way down to your Batcave lol Great video, man- I made my first treasure pile recently and now I wanna do more :-P
Love the idea! I don't play Frostgrave, but I do play Pathfinder and Gloomhaven. These are inspired and far more interesting than piles of gems. I have some Warhammer bits, I think will work nicely :)
I've needed small bases that I use buttons for! Craft stores that sell fabrics as well usually sell those little containers of buttons that are all one color but multiple different sizes. Most have a solid side and a side with raised edges, but the buttons come in all different sizes and there's a good variety. With four small holes already in plastic it would fill pretty with with your favorite putty - MILLIPUT! that's the word I was looking for - or even just hot glue. It's a thought! Love your set up that goes from the stone center to the snow on the sides, it looks great! Each new detail comes together to make it cooler and cooler when you put the whole thing together in your videos.
I had some of the Reaper Mini small bases and I used some of the GW Valhallen Blizzard Technical paint and bits from some of the Wizkids Unpainted mini lines that you used as well. I also took some larger Reaper bases and painted them gold or silver to place under the mini, the medium base fits perfectly inside, to designate they are in possession of the treasure. This allows less things on the board and if the character drops it you just place the original token back on the board.
I’ve been brainstorming a similar carrying treasure option and was thinking gold disk with magnets. You’re idea is perfect if I can find bases that fit like that!
I use a mix of minis from the D&D/Pathfinder pre-painted, and Wizkids unpainted line. The unpainted I put on the medium flat top Reaper 1" bases, I do not like the Wizkids thin bases included in the unpainted series. The ones I painted are a touch larger IIRC and I think they are the 32mm, will verify later.
For those that are interested, Crooked Staff Terrain has some awesome printouts for books and scrolls that are pay-what-you-want on DrivethruRPG that would be perfect for this project.
They look really good man. I always struggle between sculpting treasure token and markers because bits are hard to come by here but I will give it a try sometime for Rangers of Shadow Deep. You have to get into that game it is awesome.
Way awesome. I thank you and the other table top crafting guild judges pick my cheese golems for last months contest. I am curious how would you do a glass golem?

Hi Black Magic, I wanted to know about paint spray for foam, I watch your glue and OMG u was awesome I really learn a lot. Now I want to know about spay paint for foam. The k you
So when is the next room tour update? It looks awesome now. How do you like the all black thing? Sure it looks freaking amazing and matches with your channel "BLACK magic craft", but do you find it too dark sometime? When the kids leave the house, I'd love to have a room like this.
I like the all black. It's less distracting and highlights the objects rather than the walls and furniture. It's great for filming BUT it requires a LOT of directional light to set up each shot. Sometimes there are 5 big studio lights just to light me and the background, this means it will be very difficult to effectively film a room tour. I will eventually, it's just that it will be very hard to do.
Which room. The room where I build and play tabletop? Or my office where I was playing video games? The desk I build terrain on is Ikea kitchen cabinets. The white desk in my office I custom build myself. It's mdf and 2x3's.

How do you get players to use terrain
I don’t even understand that question. If you’re running the game you’re in control of what’s being used, not the players. Just use it.
I like Miscast's minecarts :-)

Have not run into that in any scenarios yet. But they each have a different item so numbering them would be redundant as they are already unique.
