Another comment. I was just thinking we need more videos like this for older women who like to keep their hair on the longer side. I usually see a new one every year. Lol
I use pure argan oil on my baby fine long hair. Before showering I apply crème rinse to the bottom half of dry hair shampoo. Then final rinse with diluted apple cider vinegar. Air dry and apply oil especially to the ends and middle. No dyes. I believe I saved my hair.
They actually have a hair scent spray- so you can get the scent while using a different product! I like to use the shampoo to wash my cashmere, it leaves that nice scent on them too :)
I also love the Pureology spray. It is one of my holy grails. I am addicted to hair products and I found one recently that is the best leave in I have found maybe ever. It's called the Dae 3 in 1 leave in cream. It's pure amazing. I have never tried anything like it. You need a tiny dab and it's like a miracle. I also have fine hair and I'm 46. I think you would love it.
I’ve always thought that Sebastian had the best line of products. There was a gel that I used for years that I couldn’t find for a long time but I’m going to see if they maybe brought it back. It was terrific. I sure did enjoy this Laura. You take care. Love, Melissa.
I’m a product junkie and the MoroccanOil leave-in is the best I’ve ever tried. I have 2b thick hair and it makes it so smooth, but with movement. The softness lasts past wash day as well.
It was interesting how you picked between two good products. I'm going to save your video so when I am in the market for new hair products I won't forget what I want to try. Blessings, and love, Laura..MaryEllen
I'm new to your channel & have been really liking it! I love your hair when it's curled . Please do a tutorial on what you use & how to get the bouncy curls.
I'm 66 and my hair is the longest it's been since high school, past the middle of my back. My hair is fine, I stopped colororing my hair over 3 years ago and have gone all natural. I have well water so my hair dresser suggested I use Malibu Hard Water Wellness Shampoo and conditioner. I only shampoo twice a week, once a week I use a deep conditioner, I use the Pantene Rescue conditioner in the individual tubes. I'm also on the hunt for something to give me a little more volume and lift in the crown or at the roots.
I fought so much with frizzy hair this summer I finally had to go to the salon and get a keratin treatment in my hair. It's lasted 3 months so far but it's been a lot better than what I had been dealing with. I'm 54 so I've accepted I'm older now things are changing including my hair. I've loved the keratin treatment. I tried everything and nothing at all worked until the treatment. I enjoy your channel.
Someone mentioned Thickify foam, I'm in the UK and hadn't heard of this, I ordered one and I just used it, it's so good, not sticky at all and my hair is still shiny. Thank you for the tip xxx
I have very fine and thin hair. Recently I have noticed more shedding. A hairdresser told me I need a density shampoo. I also learned on a TH-cam hairdresser channel, that before applying any conditioner you should towel dry your hair first. Also I am trying to use a deep conditioner more often. I would like to get my hair highlights and lowlights again, however, I am waiting to hopefully make it stronger first. I am going grey and for me personally I don't like it. Thanks for the recommendations 😊
I also have fine, thin hair. When I apply conditioner, it makes my ends limp. Have you found a conditioner that doesn't cause this,?What is a density shampoo?
@@darlenegera8866 The hairdresser told me to try Biolage Densify...I used to not even use conditioner because it weighed my hair down...I started to wash my hair less and then I use conditioner on my ends and run a little through to the rest..
Fighting gray and thinning hair, never was thick and now this is really annoying at 60+. Do.not want gray hair, mom went gray and looked so old !! We both blessed near wrinkle free skin but thin hair. Her gray aged her pretty face something awful and we are clones so no gray for me. Anyone else this problem?
I have thick, fine, hair and if I do not use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Shampoo and Conditioner it is a mess. I also like Joico Conditioners and leave in treatments as well!!! I have always wanted to try Kerastase!!!! I tried Olaplex and burned through it so fast my hair sucks product up. I find with the products I am using now I do not need as much!!! YAY!!! Thanks for the great reviews!! Keep on dancing :*)
I just started HASK from the drugstore. I saw someone recommend it. I love it. I use the thickening shampoo with biotin collagen and coffee and for the conditioner I use biotin boost thickening conditioner
As someone who can’t stand for long periods of time especially in the shower it takes everything in me just to wash my hair….would love a good recommendation for a shampoo..I have thin straight hair and get oily on the top ..would like a recommendation for a detangler as that is also an issue I have…great video Laura
I have thick coarse wavy/curly hair that is recovering from telegen effluvium. My hair is so dry and the grays will not be tamed! Morrocanoil is my favorite! I am so curious about the Kerastase but I just went down the Pureology rabbit hole and have shampoo and conditioner that are great but not Morrocanoil (I love the fragrance). I do love the Pureology leave in and have back ups (ulta online has a fabulous deal! A full size and a travel size for $25, normally I pay $32 for just the full size) I saturate my hair with this and it never builds up or weighs my texture down. I think I'll look for a holiday set of Kerastace, at least a deep conditioner.
I have very fine, short hair. I use conditioner first and then shampoo. You get some conditioning, but not too much. Love Olaplex No. 3. Also, found R+Co Badlands dry shampoo paste. Fantastic for getting almost double volume on my short hair. Use tiny amount between fingers and go into hair closest to scalp (not ends). Might even work on longer hair for volume on top.
Thanks for the pureology spray tip. I'll try it. Like you I've used oil for a long time, although my hair isn't fine, it's wavey and coarse. My mom calls it the horses tail. 🐎 I was recently in Sally's to replenish my oil, and also wanted to compare the Morrocan/argon with the V0-5 light hair oil. I saw a cream curl and asked the clerk how it compared to an oil. The clerk said that the name ""curl"" is misleading as it doesn't actually enhance the structure of a curl, (I always thought it did) but it refers to the delivery process as a cream rather than oil. She said creams permeates better than oils. 👀 I'll give both purology spray (and a curl cream) a try when I re-stock my product.
Thank you, I need all the fine hair tips I can get! I like the Morrocan Oil Texture Spray. It acts a lot like a 2nd day shampoo and gives a lot of volume, plus smells really nice.
Most beauty youtubers talk exclusively about makeup. I love that you talk about hair and skin as well (I'm obsessed with hair products!). I use Olaplex #7 too and also found the Moroccan Oil way too heavy for my fine-medium dry hair. I have been using the Moroccan Oil s/c for a while but I'm going to try the Kerastase - sounds awesome. I tried the Pureology Fanatic but I just couldn't get past the smell - it had that strong "mature" perfume scent that gave me a headache . I also want to try that glossing treatment you spoke about in your last video. Any product that promises shine is definitely calling my name. Great video!
My hair is wavy, very dry EXCEPT at the scalp (which is extremely oily). Because of this combo, I always have a hard time figuring out which shampoo & conditioner to use. Going to give the Kerastasi a try! Thanks Laura Rae! ❤❤❤💜
I am in my 70s. Coarse hair that I try to straighten and now as I age, very dry etc. I have started It's a 10 shampoo and like it. Also thanks for all your advice. Am going to try some. j
Hi Laura I have extremely dry/course textured curly hair (2c/3a) with an extremely dry and eczema prone scalp. It’s also long and I have some high lift tint highlights to blend the white hairs into my natural mid blonde. My hair needs maximum moisture and taming lol. I use a gentle shampoo and mostly masks rather than conditioner- I need more moisture than conditioner can provide. My favourite leave in conditioner (having tried a lot at various price points) is the shea moisture one in the tub with castor oil. I also like the matching styling lotion as they’re both super moisturising. I then use a gel or custard over the top and choose that depending on the weather. I also use the ordinary hair density serum - not so much for density but to moisturise my scalp without making my roots greasy every night. I love oils and they’re never too heavy on my hair. I can use oil everyday on it without it ever making it look greasy but my hair is super dry. Best wishes
I love Sebastian shaper! I used it years and years ago and I still use it at almost 52! I have also tried every shampoo/conditioner Hugh end and drug store. I cannot say I have loved any one! I haven’t tried the Moroccan or Keratese so maybe those will be next! I want to be able to get a comb through my frizzy/ curly hair after the shower.
Hey Laura Rae! I've been using a new-to-me phenomenon called "lamellar rinse" for my babyfine hair as I'm letting the layers grow out. My hair is now about 2" below my shoulders - the longest it's ever been! - and there's almost enough length now in the shortest layer to go for a blunt cut long bob (say that one three times fast!). But until I get it cut, the naturally wavy, damaged ends are easily tangled, but the lamellar rinse is super! I get something approaching soft and shiny, but not limp or sticky. My hair seems to be ALOT like yours, but I don't like to use styling products at all - it's also very thin on top and everything just weighs it down. I can't use Rogaine or anything like it bc of other meds I'm on, so I'm just a shampoo - comb and go - type of gal, but only twice a week. I've used a sample size of a Redken lamellar rinse that I loved so much, I went looking for a cheaper dupe and found L'Oreal's Elvive Wonder Water. It took me maybe four months to use that up, so then I found Garnier's version called Glass Hair Treatment for even cheaper! Leave it to L'Oreal's corporate little sister to dupe them all! The ingredients are very similar, the effect is identical, and since I take short road trips as often as possible, the smaller sized bottle with the narrow screw-tip cap make the Garnier so convenient. So I've found one thing I absolutely believe in! Maybe someday I'll have hair I actually like, which hasn't happened since the Princess Diana days! (Didn't we all have that hairstyle?) Anyway, love the video - I didn't know Sebastian Shaper spray still existed - this was something I always loved for the rare special occasion when I'd actually try to style my hair. Now, I just comb it out, push a headband on, and let the whites along my hairline look like expensive highlights on my naturally dark blonde hair. Sometimes I use a rose-gold spray color on those whites and roots- it helps to camouflage my balding scalp and adds a fun kick, a little extra glow, like an extension to my makeup! I'm 62, and never thought I'd enjoy having longer hair, but that's just another facet of the legacy of COVID, when nobody could get to a salon for a regular trim! So two full years I've been letting my hair grow. Love this video, more please!
Oh my, your story is my story, never had anything but layered medium to short cuts until covid, i have long or long for me hair now, Im still growing out layers because i did get some layers last year , i have a long textured bob, I am 62 I dont have gray and overall very hair. I have used that lamellar water but the heat weirded me out.
I just came across this video and decided to watch it because I have very similar hair. I am also 62 years old and have allowed my hair to grow past my shoulders. The last time I had long hair was 1976! It has remained short up until the last two years. I actually stopped using shampoo and would only use conditioner for about 20 years now. I find that shampoo brings the absolute worst out in my hair. It gets terribly wiry and is impossible to work with. I too am looking for some lift at the scalp, so I am definitely interested in trying some of these products.
I love L'ANZA HEALING SMOOTH SMOOTHER STRAIGHTENING BALM. It is a heat protector too. Just a little bit through damp hair and blow dry/style. It is fantastic. My hairdresser uses it on my hair and I purchase it at my salon. A little goes a long way. A bottle lasts me at least 5 or 6 months.
I always go back to MoroccanOil hair mask with the brown rim. I’ve tried so many. I have long hair that’s can be coarse and wavy. I liked the like the Coco and Eve for a while. Some kerastase. Still more I want to try from that brand. All the Shea moisture ones I loved they discontinued. I like the Olaplex oil mixed with the number 6 leave in. Otherwise it is too thin for me. I could go on. Most of the time I oil the heck out of my hair before I wash it. Prepoo.
Thanks for this video Laura. My hair is medium thick and has oily roots and it’s very dry on the ends. Because my hair is very complicated I have to use so many products. On the days when I don’t use any styling tools I wash my hair with Mario Badescu lecithin shampoo and then follow conditioner . On the days when I style my hair I use Oribe gold lust shampoo and conditioner than live-in conditioner- sol de janeiro oil. I know it sounds too much but my hair on the ends just asking for more moisture. In the summer I prefer to use different hair products than in the winter. Sometimes I do DIY masks and homemade treatment on my hair. 🙏🏻🙌
Hi, Laura Rae! I have quite curly hair that is very fine. My hairdresser told me recently that I have the curliest, finest hair out of all her clients! I'm not sure that's the best contest to win, 🤔 😁 but... I buy Surface Curls line of products from her shop and love them!
Hi Laura so glad I found you on TH-cam, really useful shampoo tips brands thank you. Like yourself I’ve tried high end and drug store, The shampoo you have mentioned on your video and in the links is so much better. ❤❤️❤️
I really like Zerran and TIGI but my step-father who was a hairstylist taught me to alternate my shampoos every 2-3 weeks for best results so I am looking for a third to add to my collection.
You read my mind... I've recently had all the red removed from my hair (29 yrs of it) & went blonde to let the grey come in more... like you, I have a lot of hair.. its just fine (results of a gastric bypass). My niece is a hairdresser & she switched me from the heavy Moroccan oil to the Olaplex & I agree with you 💯💯💯!! I'm definitely going to have her get me some of the Sebastián Thickener as I have the same problem... my hair is naturally curly but I straighten mine!!❤️❤️❤️ thanks for showing these great products.. oh, I also use the Olaplex Bond Smoother, leave-in treatment!!!💟💓💞💐💞💓💟
Hi Laura! Great video - thanks so much for the frank and truthful discussion. This week I was trying to decide between Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil and the Moroccan Oil. I too have fine hair that can get weighed down, so I am very glad I watched this before my purchase - Olaplex All The Way! 🙂 My two favorite hairsprays are Sebastian Shaper and Elnett Satin, and I usually choose the Elnett because it is available in Unscented. They are both great and do not give me crunchy helmet hair. I bought a travel size of Pureology Color Fanatic, and although it was very expensive for the amount of product it provided, it gave me the chance to see if it is worth it! And by golly it is! I only need 6 - 8 sprays for my entire hair, and I start with the ends. Wow, this video was so timely for me!
I also use the Elnett hairspray and the Sebastian. Another oil I have fallen for recently is the Davines. It is pricey, but you use so little that it will last forever!❤️
This is great info for older hair but we still have to struggle with the different hair porosities of our hair .so some of these products might not have the same end results on some women because of the difference in them either have low or high porosity or even in between hair..only my humble opinion
I ordered the Kerastase, since my birthday is the 9th. My hair is similar to yours although mine does not have as much natural wave. I too have loved the Moroccan oil, they do make a lighter version.
I use a homemade protein treatment for my highlighted hair. I have alot of hair but it's fine in texture. So I find it's better to treat it gently. I use a blow dyer n an assortment of brushes to style my hair. Protein treatment recipe: 2-3 egg yolks I TBsp of olive oil On Sunday afternoon or a day off... Directions: mix well. Drape a towel around your shoulders. Go into the bathroom, dip fingers into mixture n apply treatment to hair. Wrap hair up in towel. Let sit on hair for 2 hrs. Slowly n gently unwrap towel. Your hair will be very stiff. Step into the shower n rinse well. Shampoo. style as you usually do. Your hair will be revitalized:) Your welcome.
Loved this video a lot.. very helpful..but I hv some questions..my hair colored bleached dry damaged..PL suggest good shampoo deep conditioner leave in & heat protection spray..plz
I have fine blonde hair that is frizzy and damaged . Some products I have tried I feel made it worse. Which hair care products would you recommend? Which curling iron would you recommend?
I have thick, coarse, dry curls. I like the DevaCurl products, TIGI Catwalk, and Cantu products. But I need a heavy cream to help weigh my curls down because I don't like volume.
Thanks for your products review. I have hair very similar to yours, Laura. I've been wanting to try the Olaplex Bond. At what point do you put it in your hair? While still wet? Btw, your complexion looks amazing!
Right now I am using WOW, but I have been looking for a better shampoo and conditioner. I am going to take your advice. I have considered using the moroccan oil, but I have reconsidered since I watched your TH-cam video.
I have fine hair and dont like volumize shampoos need soft hydrated hair to do the full styles the volumizing dries the hair makes it un moldable and while it starts out full it falls flat fast
Laura thank you so much for this video! I have thin, dry and frizzy hair due to the gray! I have been wanting to try something new! Now I have some great choices! I am using bumble and bumble invisible oil shampoo and conditioner! Have you ever tried any hair masks like the Macadamia mask? I would like your advice!
Alterna kendi oil was the best. Cannot find it any more. It's the hard water that destroys ur hair. I'm in Florida and only good hair day is first day from salon, when I go to Philadelphia to visit my family first thing I do is shower and wash hair, its becomes so soft and light.
@@LauraRaeBeauty that’s good to know…I will check it out…the other one was horrible…my fellows would tell me to warn them if I used it so they could leave the house, lol!
I can’t stand that L’Oréal hairspray. The smell is awful and it makes me feel ill. I have used Schwartzkoff Hairspray in the Red can for about 20 years. It has NO scent and my hair doesn’t get scrunchy and it really holds my hair well without looking like I have used hairspray.
I’ve used Moroccan oil for years. I got it from cosmoprof recently and it’s awful. Shampoo and conditioner is awful. I’ve started using Pantene moisture line and it’s great. If it builds up once a month use a vinegar rinse. It’s cheap and makes hair shiny.

I’m trying to find something good for my hair! TFS!🥰
Prepoo.
Thank you so much for the information.😊
My pleasure 😊❤️
Hi Laura! Have you used Colleen Rothschild? Looove her shampoo and conditioners!
I haven’t tried this line but I have always heard great things. I need to try it out!❤️
Hi, Laura Rae!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kindness!❤️
I really like Zerran and TIGI but my step-father who was a hairstylist taught me to alternate my shampoos every 2-3 weeks for best results so I am looking for a third to add to my collection.
I love your hair... I'm always trying new products!
I appreciate your kindness Shari!❤️
I agree with you!❤️
Hi. I have gray hair that fine and some wave. I’m looking for products that don’t way my hair down or cause shedding. HELP
I now have thin, fine, curly hair. My Holy Grail is Tre'luxe. I've also had good luck with Ouidad Advanced.
I ordered the Kerastase, since my birthday is the 9th. My hair is similar to yours although mine does not have as much natural wave. I too have loved the Moroccan oil, they do make a lighter version.
Hope you love the Kerastase. Yes, I have the light version of Moroccanoil. The Olaplex is a little thinner which helps with my baby fine hair.❤️
I use a homemade protein treatment for my highlighted hair. I have alot of hair but it's fine in texture. So I find it's better to treat it gently. I use a blow dyer n an assortment of brushes to style my hair.
Protein treatment recipe:
2-3 egg yolks
I TBsp of olive oil
On Sunday afternoon or a day off...
Your hair will be revitalized:)
Your welcome.
Thanks so much for sharing your recipe.❤️
THANK YOU
Loved this video a lot.. very helpful..but I hv some questions..my hair colored bleached dry damaged..PL suggest good shampoo deep conditioner leave in & heat protection spray..plz
All of the products I used in this video work on my colored dry damaged hair.❤️
@@LauraRaeBeauty ..okkk..so I think got my ans😄
I have fine blonde hair that is frizzy and damaged . Some products I have tried I feel made it worse. Which hair care products would you recommend? Which curling iron would you recommend?
I have thick, coarse, dry curls. I like the DevaCurl products, TIGI Catwalk, and Cantu products. But I need a heavy cream to help weigh my curls down because I don't like volume.
Are any of these shampoos and conditioners for color treated hair? I want to try them but don’t want to lose my color.. New subbie here.
When you spray your hair first then you use the wand doesn't it sizzle your hair?
No. I lightly spray the hair and let it dry for a second then no sizzle.❤️
Hey Laura. Do you like anything for hair loss? I’m 58 and it’s driving me nuts! Love all your recommendations!
I use collagen powder and Vegamour serum.❤️
The link for Kerastase shampoo is actually a conditioner
The link is fixed. Thanks so much for letting me know.❤️
@@LauraRaeBeauty thank you
Thanks for your products review. I have hair very similar to yours, Laura. I've been wanting to try the Olaplex Bond. At what point do you put it in your hair? While still wet? Btw, your complexion looks amazing!
I put the oil in after I have styled my hair.❤️
Right now I am using WOW, but I have been looking for a better shampoo and conditioner. I am going to take your advice. I have considered using the moroccan oil, but I have reconsidered since I watched your TH-cam video.
I tried the Wow shampoo and conditioner but it dried my hair out. I love the Wow spray for getting rid of frizz.❤️
I have been used by the Macadamia Daily Mask and really like it.❤️

Thank you so much for the recommendation!
Do you have a link for the Kerastase shampoo? Also, you don’t have the winner reflected in the notes for the hairspray.
Thank you for letting me know! I added the link and fixed it.
Alterna kendi oil was the best. Cannot find it any more. It's the hard water that destroys ur hair. I'm in Florida and only good hair day is first day from salon, when I go to Philadelphia to visit my family first thing I do is shower and wash hair, its becomes so soft and light.
I have thin hair what would you recommend?
Is your hair oily, normal, or dry?❤️
@@LauraRaeBeauty thanks for replying I have thin and frizzy in front the back is good (I'm 50 +)😊
I love Pureology shampoo, I colour my hair and it dose not SLS which strip the colour out.
It is a wonderful shampoo. I used it for several years.❤️
Try Biolage All-In-One Coconut Multi-Benefit Leave-In Conditioner Spray. Virtually the same ingredients, costs less.
Thanks for your recommendation. I have used Biolage conditioner and shampoo but I haven’t tried the leave in conditioner.❤️
Do you use the thickening foam instead of mousse?
I love Ole plex. Laura please tell me how I receive my gift I win last time I have no idea how to receive. Thank you. Dawne
Just send your mailing address to my email Lauraraebeauty@gmail.com. Congratulations!❤️
50+ super fine thick wavy natural blond. Chi Keratin hair spray in the gold can, L'anza (both) oils, color proof Moisture shampoo, L'anza MoiMoi mask, Pacifica vegan silk hair mask, Oribe humidity spray. Kerastase fragrance hair oil as a finish, Fekkai Baby blond shampoo
Thank you so much for sharing these with us!❤️
The Elnett hairspray I really like how it works, but it smells so strong and offensive to me and the men around me I stopped using it.
L’Oréal makes one now that is unscented. I also am not a fan of scent in hairspray.❤️
@@LauraRaeBeauty that’s good to know…I will check it out…the other one was horrible…my fellows would tell me to warn them if I used it so they could leave the house, lol!
🦋
I can’t stand that L’Oréal hairspray. The smell is awful and it makes me feel ill. I have used Schwartzkoff Hairspray in the Red can for about 20 years. It has NO scent and my hair doesn’t get scrunchy and it really holds my hair well without looking like I have used hairspray.
The L’Oréal now comes in an unscented version.❤️
I’ve used Moroccan oil for years. I got it from cosmoprof recently and it’s awful. Shampoo and conditioner is awful. I’ve started using Pantene moisture line and it’s great. If it builds up once a month use a vinegar rinse. It’s cheap and makes hair shiny.
The day after menopause hit....I too developed a BIRDSNEST at the nape. It took 3 years to get rid of it.... Oh.... And hundreds of dollars.
I can totally relate!❤️
As someone who can’t stand for long periods of time especially in the shower it takes everything in me just to wash my hair….would love a good recommendation for a shampoo..I have thin straight hair and get oily on the top ..would like a recommendation for a detangler as that is also an issue I have…great video Laura
