Zygi Zygi yeah it think so too. Too rich would mostly just "four-stroke" (sound like one) when you reach top rpm. Opening the gas and not having anything but hitting a sweetspot at nearly closed gas is definately a sign of too much air. They should just check the plugs tho.
that is the most dangerous thing ive ever seen in my life. I love it. I love how youre literally balancing on 2 bars while standing up & hammering the throttle

Dozer1642 Haha what a stupid deduction to make. I've been riding road bikes, dirt bikes, snowmobiles & anything with a motor I can get my hands on for 36 years. Also mountain bike, Grass ski, water ski, skateboard, snow ski & snowboard all since I was about 11yo. Have swung from flying foxes (zip lines) and abseiled since about 8yo. I know exactly what happens to a body when it hits trees or the ground whether flung from a bike when it hits something solid or simply when it slides across the ground with the machine. This machine looks like hilarious fun and requires way more skill than a dirt bike to right fast safely but if you hit something on either at speed you're gonna hurt yourself. But you could hurt yourself tomorrow if you got out of bed.
Loving the update guys! Back at again with the milk carton gaskets! That's what I call ingenuity! Keep up the awesome work guys, living the dream as always!
You're right, it's incredibly weird to ride something standing up like that. My stand up ATV tilts so it feels like two wheels. It amazing though. That thing rips!
You guys create absolute frankenstein monsters out of these motorized vehicles and I just LOVE it. so creative, so dangerous, so out of your damn mind!
I'm enjoying your videos....back when I was your age we've done a lot of cool things too, we just didn't have the technology to film, or post on TH-cam. BUT, you are sure bringing back a lot of memories for me....keep up the COOL work boys!!
The spark arrestor was totally my idea. Mopar makes a oil pan ATV, that is the best I have ever used. It can seal anything with oil. They make a trans gasket ATV too that is excellent as well. Good stuff.👍👊😎
I run the V-max 600 carbs on a 485 Exciter and they run fat from the 600 as you mentioned. Jet them similar to the V-max 500 and they'll be right on the nose. IIRC, should be a 152.5 main, 35 pilot and middle notch on the needles. Great build.
Judging by the piston wash I saw when you had the cylinders off, and given the fact that it was originally setup to run in sub 30 degree temperatures and the more restrictive intake.... Is going to need to be jetted down significantly. You'll probably need to redo clutching as well, to keep it from over revving given much less rolling resistance. More primary weight at least, probably less helix as well.
If the pod filters are tbe problem itll be too lean likely on both the pilot and main jets. There are some carbs that just dont like pod filters though and no matter what you do there will always be tuning issues. Im not an expert but i have done pod filter conversions on probably a dozen engines with varying levels of success.
I'm gonna say running rich cause anytime you restrict the air with filters your creating more suction of the jets and/or fuel bowls. But either way badass build and can't wait to see full send on it but be careful
I think I would weld sheet metal or diamond plate on top of the tubes ur standing on and cover it in skate board grip tape to give u a better platform to stand on. Watching u ride I was real nervous u would slip a foot and wreck every time you hit a bump. Cool build can't wait to see it finished.
Hey, what if you build an airbox with aluminum? Eliminates the airfilters and protects the intake from rear tyre? A box would fit really nice on those intake tubes!
Try connecting the intakes together and then putting a filter on. I think the self-supercharging resonance caused by the exhaust wants to pull the intake in as a single unit and something about individual air filter bodies is messing up the resonance.
So I've been watching since the barbie car and this channel is absolutely amazing. I'd like to do these kind of things when I grow up. I mean I've rode a lot of things growing up I'm 13 wishing for a dirt bike soon. But this is awesome. Thanks for the inspiration guys
I was going to say, sounded lean when you were trying to crank the throttle during the onboard shots, I was going to suggest raising the needle and putting in a larger main jet but then you mentioned the carbs don't have needles, haha. If you are really impatient you can probably drill out the main jets a little and try again.
I work on many odd projects, like all the stuff yall are working on. So a tip for you, go and buy many rolls of paper, cork, and rubber gasket. So you all ways have the gaskit you need.
It's definitely running rich, the filters are acting like a choke creating a vacuum in the throat of the carbs. 2-smokes run best when they're so lean they're about to destroy themselves, it's a delicate balance.
Really a cool deal, I'm sure its a hoot to drive. Like you said when it hits that little bit of 'right' mixture that sucker just unloads the back tire. When its right, it'll be a two wheel drift bike, add throttle for direction.. :) Good work always good, thanks for sharing!
it looked like you just guessed at the distance between the primary and secondary clutches and if its not set up like the phazer it will not pull well or have any top end
Out of curiosity, would setting your intake piping up as an "H" pipe help equalize intake air volume between the cylinders? An airbox has the carbs pulling the same air for each cylinder. I am speculating here, but it may help that thing run a little better. That and the jetting is probably way too fat for your current ambient temp.
You must have the proper exhaust for a 2 stroke. You can do all the carb work you want, it will not help. The hesitation at bottom end is the nature of the beast. There are reed valves between the head and the carbs. The valves are what sets the characteristics and power range of the engine. The engine, has a similar top end, compared to the Yamaha Banshee 350
What size engine are you using because, you might be hitting the v band on the motor and thats where most of the power is so on a higher cc sled it will be at a higher throttle unlike lower cc motors being at a lower throttle position
As A Clyde when it comes to riding a regular Bicycle. I got to wonder how long those spokes are gonna hold. Now that it has a bigger motor, but then there are bikes like the boss hog. Plus wheels are pretty easy to build etc..
So cool what you guys do! It'd be cool to throw a skateboard deck over the metal frame and keep it stand up, leave the trucks on so you can lean with it in the corners..probably a little dangerous but it'd be fun!
The reason it’s not reving out is because of the elbows that the cone filters are on not the filters themselves. If you put the filters directly on the carbs it will run better
Definitely a carb issue and not an exhaust trouble. The key is that sweet spot on the throttle. Most 2 strokes are pretty finicky about intake restriction and it sounds like a carb that's moving not enough air for the jets that it has, thus the sweet spot. Need smaller carb, try locating old honda 750 carb (the 4 cylinder ) Stay away from the late model carbs (they have a vacuum operated slide)
Yeah, definitely a carb problem. I’m getting a set of flat slides from a Yamaha Vmax 600. I’ve heard they work well for this engine and are way more tunable.
Might need a mud guard so 1. rocks don't decide to make a surprise entry through that air filter, 2. mud and other gunk doesn't get stuck all in and around it, 3. protect the components of the engine
normally the secondary clutch rides on a Jackshaft that goes across to a chain case with around a 2:1 gear ratio...you need to do some calculating of gear ratios and rear tire circumference and see whare you are at...then you can gear it to run
Put on a new belt if that one is worn. If its good narrow up the rear clutch to tighten the belt till its more snuggish. Your low end response will improve dramatically.
Hey just my 2 cents on the stand up deck. Try maybe some foot pegs or even a metal grate like what they use on cat walks in the mills. It would provide Exelent grip while clearing snow or mud out from under your feet at the same time ☺
Doesn't two stroke carburetors run on underpressure so just making a box for the airfilters would make a suction to carburator to function. just' an idea..
Mate, you should have more sure footing platform to stand on. I would say a downhill speed longboard deck, with aggressive grip tape would make te whole experience a blast. As it is right now, your feet are about to slip from the frame at any second. Take care, ride safe and have fun.
if you really want power out of that engine, u should get propper expansion chambers. one expansion chamber for each cylinder. that y piece and one expansion chamber just eats all your power
I agree with you fully. I have the same set up on my snowmobile. 1 pipe for each cylinder.
That’s a great idea! I will keep an eye out for twin pipes for this engine. They are pretty rare, so maybe I will have to get some custom made...
@@GrindHardPlumbingCo if The engine is somewhere around 350cc u could use like banshee or Yamaha RD 350 pipes. And those are fairly common.
It’s 485cc, So those pipes might be too small...
