    Thank you for helping the animals. I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one saddened by roadkill and stopping to help always. ❤

    Look into transporting your van by cargo ship. Possibly best for travel to new Zealand. Could be feasible option. New Zealand, particularly the south island is absolutely spectacular. Great birdlife and wildlife and moari culture too. Wish you had more subscribers to support you financially as you tubers. You thoroughly deserve more. Perhaps this will increase when you expand to overseas travel. Thx guys appreciate you

      We actually briefly looked into shipping the van to NZ awhile ago, it seems to be pretty expensive return ($10K+) and apparently Aus is pretty tough on biosecurity when bringing it back in. New Zealand would be very high on our must visit list though and road tripping it in some sort of camper set up. So we'll definitely look into it more, even if we end up with a different setup over there as you're 1000% right; spectacular views, wildlife and culture.
      And thank you so so much, we appreciate you watching and the kind words 💙

    Hi Guys
    New subscriber, really enjoying your videos. Was surprised how low the cost of your first year on the road was, super inspiring for us as our plan is to do the same. There was no mention of alcohol, which can be super expensive, do you guys drink?
    Thank you, safe travels
    Den n Carolyn

      Hi Den and Carolyn! Thank you so much, we're so glad you're enjoying our videos. We do drink but as you said it's pretty expensive so alcohol is usually a splurge for us that we only get occasionally... I don't think we've had a drink yet during our whole lap... we'll be lightweights by the time we get back 😅
      Best of luck with your own travels when you set out on them. Hopefully we'll see you on the road one day 🚐

    I love how travelling Australia has opened your eyes to travel. Asia would be your next obvious adventure. Cheaper in a lot of ways but camping is not big there and crossing borders in a van could be a challenge! However, I'm sure you will do plenty of research before you attempt this

    • @lydiaandwehan
      @lydiaandwehan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We thought it would go either way, we'd either love it and want to see so much more or we'd hate it and want to get back asap! Very happy with how everything has turned out and excited to see what else we can experience 😊 Yeah, I think a lot of Asian countries would be way too hard to camp or do van life in. We had so much fun checking out the unique accommodation on our Bali & Gili Islands trip anyway and from what we remember that was pretty affordable. There's only a few select countries where van life would be a better choice.

    I have friends in Melbourne who are doing what you are doing, back in 2020 they were told 'they must have a medical procedure' if you know what I mean, I have no idea if this applied to you both or not, you don't have to say, and they were thinking about moving into regional Victoria so they sold their home and went to Queensland then came back down and went on the ferry to Tasmania and they absolutly loved it.

    • @lydiaandwehan
      @lydiaandwehan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our switch to van life was just a lifestyle thing as we were pretty unfulfilled and unhappy with what we were doing and wanted to see more of the world! I'm not surprised your friends loved Tassie, the landscapes, wildlife and sense of community is next level. It will be hard for us to leave 😊

    I live in the Otways in southern Victoria, I have friends who grew up in Melbourne and moved to Brisbane 25 years ago and they decided to tour Tasmania in July for 2 weeks and they fell in love with it so much they have decided to move down to Tasmania and semi retire in Hobart, they both loved the snow, they loved Cradle Mountain as it was snowing, they got sick of the heat in Queensland, so in 2 years time, they will be selling and moving down there, they love the 4 seasons and so do I, we have snow here in the Otways too, would you consider moving to Tasmania? I saw you loved it so much.

    • @lydiaandwehan
      @lydiaandwehan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Firstly, what a beautiful place to live! We LOVED the Otways, we couldn't believe how lush it was there, especially after coming straight from SA where we had hot dry summers and spent majority of our time in the outback.
      How exciting for your friends, we feel the same and love the four seasons. A lot of people warned us that it was full on so we thought we wouldn't like it but we have. Even just driving a few hours in Tasmania you can experience completely different weather (and completely different terrain!). Huge Tassie fans for sure, we've mentioned that one day when we retire we'd be keen on retiring in Tassie's North and possibly becoming wildlife carers. 🦘💙

      @@lydiaandwehan I have really LOVED your Tasmanian tour, it is so under rated and most people focus on warm areas of Australia, I'm also planning on moving down there possibly in 10 years + time, living in reginal and living off grid, thankyou for the great videos.

    The amount you have paid during the past 12 months works out to around $440 a week, some people pay that in rent, then they have to pay for food, electricity and other bills, there are a lot of people doing what you are doing now as they cant find rents have been locked out of the housing market, well done, love watching your videos and I have fallen in love with Tasmania too Id love to move there, I'm in Melbourne.

    • @lydiaandwehan
      @lydiaandwehan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It has been very affordable for us thankfully. Exactly, our weekly expenses now are pretty much what our mortgage alone was! We were surprised by how much cheaper it was than how we were living.
      The rental and housing crisis is awful, we feel for people who are being forced into this lifestyle and don't want to be.
      Thank you for watching, Tasmania is stunning. I think we'd want to move there too one day when we retire! 😊 That seems to be what happens with all of the locals we've spoken to here, they came over once and then fell in love with it.

    Oh don't get me started on my opinion about "facts" haha... I follow you guys for your great personality and character so I'd prefer more of that over facts anyday. Love how u guys just be your quirky selves on camera. Actually the only Aussie van lifers I watch on TH-cam but follow some others on Facebook.
    Anyway i commented on your poll but then my comment disappeared somewhere I can't see so here's another one haha. Great videos keep it up

      How weird, thankfully we can still see your comment on the poll so have just responded! Thanks heaps for the feedback, as we mentioned in our other comment we have a lot of fun filming the amazing spots and the chaos of how we interact with eachother 🤣 so it's great to hear that you enjoy seeing it. Thanks again 💙
