Hi Jennifer! Thanks! Input! I enjoyed this lesson, superb tips! My favorite way to get input in English language learning is to watch my favorite reality TV programs, documentaries, and drama-docs in English without subtitles. Hence, I learn more everyday English, which is essential. Brilliant adage: “Knowledge is only potential power, action is power”. The way I see it is that if you focus too much on input, you may lose some of your potential as your speaking skills don't quite cut the mustard. Personally, my Achilles' heel is mainly English language speaking skills, so I've recently tried to concentrate on that. I'm glad, I've made some progress. Thanks to your splendid tip, I've used a random question generator and a random idiom generator to boost my output. They are helpful. I agree, many times students get too much input. As for me, that's true! Way back when I was at school, we focused mainly on input. Therefore, my writing, reading, and listening skills were OK, but my English language speaking skills were pretty basic. When it comes to planning output during your teaching sessions, I'd say one way to practice output is to comment on the current topic. I've noticed that repeating sentences, making one's own sentences, and saying them out loud is an excellent way to level up English language speaking skills!
I know that the output is the key, but still mainly absorbing the input. In my case I think proportion is about 85/15. I try to change this but it's hard. Because of you (this video) I pushed myself to add the comment. It's a great way to increasing production of the language. If adding further comments becomes a habit, I will become more fluent. Thanks for your job.
"YES, YES, YES" !!! Very interesting and useful. Theoretically, everyone knows this, but still... seeing something and realizing something are two different things. Great job Jennifer
Thank you Jane. With your news article videos I can understand easily. And started to speak fluently. Your pronunciation is so well that I can get words easily. At he same time your speak speed is so fairly that suits for me to understand . Please go on this sharings everytime. I m waiting the new one every day. Sincerely yours. Thanks a lot from İstanbul/ TURKEY😊
Input, input input. Knowledge isn't power. Knowledge is only potential power. Action is power! Tony Robbins. For input, I read books and articles. I often watch TH-cam videos. To get output from your reading article lessons, I suggest writing a summary of the article. To practice speaking, I recommend recording a spoken summary of the article. Thank you, Jennifer, for this valuable lesson! 💕
My idea for maximizing input is to change the smartphone settings to English. I have been doing this for seven years and even read Japanese promoting emails in English. It makes more sense for me than reading the original Japanese sentences because I read the sentences more carefully. Thank you for the tips!
My thoughts on using movies, TV, and videos as input. There are three levels. The first is watching the content with subtitles in one's native language. The next level is watching the content with subtitles in the target language. The third level is watching the content without subtitles. Each of the levels can have value. The value of a given level depends on what level of a person is in the progress for learning the target language. The lowest level is obviously to watch the content with subtitles in one's native language, and this would be for beginners. The highest level is to watch the content without subtitles, and this would be for language learners at a relatively high level. One could, of course, overlap the exposure e.g. for someone at a given level it could be watching some content with subtitles in one's native language and watching other content with subtitles in the target language. Does this sound reasonable?
Thank you very much for the daily efforts you're making to help us , secondly , i really enjoy the lessons where studying english through Newspaper , Media,,,,etc .
Listening to your English lecture about input is also a form of learning. To maximize learning, immerse yourself in the language by living and participating actively in an English-speaking society
I've just seen you in Hadar's chanel. I already saw Hadar in yours a few days ago. So I'm going to watch you twice today. But I'm glad about that, of course, coz I enjoy learning with you.
Sorry to interrupt you Jennifer but I want to say something that you look good in simple hairs. By the way you are teaching is so good. I understand each and everything is and I appreciate you.
teacher Jennifer, what a super helpful video!🔥 happy to know about those two things.🤝 I'm getting a lot of input through your million-dollar day-day videos.💪 I repeat your excellent English articles after teaching them.😎 I focus your pronunciations to overcome that task.🤩 Also I practice the words that I found by your Articles by using them in sentences, saying them out loud and commenting some of them in your TH-cam comment section.😎 Happy to say I can handle input and output at the same time by your amazing articles.💪 thanks for sharing this awesome things.🧡 you rock.😎 Input! Input! Input! Articles! Articles! Articles! YES, YES, YES
Hi Jennifer, just a question : what category do classify repeating and shadowing, are they input, output or both ? Thousands of thanks for your very instructive lessons. I'm fan !
That's a great question. I would classify that as output, because at that moment you're producing language. But I could see how someone else might say that's input.
@@JForrestEnglish that's what I had thought firsthand, and I guess there is a bit of input since one may learn new words and idioms as well. Thanks for your answer. Best wishes from France.
Yeah Jennifer, there are two things that are essential, relevant, important and fundamental to become fluent and confident and those are; - Studying 20%. AND. - Practicing A LOT 80%. And it's scientifically proven to be the best method of all. It's as if you wanted to learn how to play the piano, you gotta study music and then you have to sit in front of a piano and start playing and this happens with almost all areas of knowledge, as simple as that.
Exactly! I always use the piano example too! It's such an easy one to understand. Obviously you can't learn how to play piano without actually playing piano! Can't argue with that! ❤
Definitely not! I frequently learn new words when I read. So the average native speaker would too. But just remember that I only teach you the words that I think you'll use regularly in your vocabulary.
I listen to lots of creepy horror stories with English subtitles on youtube to expend my English vocabulary, but after dragging hours. I forgot everything 🙃
My wife practice 90% output in her own languaje, and only 10% input. I'm gonna show her this video, para que hable menos y escuche más. It's just a joke. I don't want anyonw to be offended.
