I never got into Buffy and Riley until I got older. When you're young, you like the sexy bad boys like Angel and Spike. But now, I like the that Riley was the good guy. He was always supportive and there for her. And he's the guy that you'd have a long lasting relationship with.

It is not about the bad boys. It is about acceptance. He never truly accepted her. It bothered him that she could do just fine without him saving the day and she would probably be saving his arse far more often. He was often passively aggressive, and didn't support her when she needed him, too wrapped up in his own insecurities. Note that Buffy is far from blameless. It was clear she is not fully into this relationship. And I don't mean "her duty comes first". I mean emotionally. Still, she kept forcing it, because she was convincing herself it was what she needed. She hurt them both by doing that.
Exactly... He really was in love with her, but she still wasn't ready for him. I love Riley, he has this admiration for her, he was safe and good guy. I dont get it why everyone love it a toxic relationship like it was with spike.

I found Riley boring at first, was never really interested in his character, but as I've gotten older, and am in a healthy relationship, I've been rewatching the series and have come to wish that these two had stayed together.
I might be part of the minority, but I really loved Buffy with Riley. Out of all the relationships she's had, he was truly the best relationship for her. Yes, he had his flaws, mainly his insecurities, about handling the fact that she's stronger than him, and also the angel insecurity. But, at least their relationship was more realistic. He's practically the guy Angel wanted her to be with when he broke up with her and left for good. He was everything she ever wanted, but took him for granted and always kept him at a distance. She saw him as a rebound, and somebody who could be convenient for her, rather than an actual equal and partner like she did with Angel. It's sad, because Riley was down to be all the things she needed and wanted in a partner, and in a healthy way, and yet, she just couldn't see it because the "feelings" she felt for Riley, were nothing compared to what she felt with Angel. It's like no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't even bring herself to put in the same effort she made for Angel, for Riley.

I have to admit that i am one of those who cannot stand them together but your video??? it made me appreciate riley a little bit. they are beautiful together yes and riley loved her with all that he could and he helped buffy to grow, but im just way to obsessed that she needs a little bit dark haha. i mean bangel and spuffy is just !!!everything!!! but your video, it changed my perspective a little bit and that just says that you are an amazing editor, if you can change peoples view of things. I really enjoyed this and it even made it into my btvs/ats playlist. you never disappoint
Gotta say, after my Spike's POV spuffy video about how he knows he has no real chance with Buffy, but keeps loving her and her mixed signals, hot&cold behaviour is messing him up and hurting him, I decided to make completely Buffy POV spuffy video about how she refuses to accept and admit even to herself that she loves Spike, and I couldn't find the right song. But your video inspired me. I don't like Riley, I don't like him with Buffy. But your video is truly perfect. And it gave me the inspiration to use this song for my video. So, thanks
Rewatching the show, Buffy was very...obsessed with Riley. He became a very big distraction to her. At least that’s how it seems so far. Jk I just watched the episode when he left and I really wish he had stayed cause everything Xander said was right 😭😭😭
I will never understand Spike and Buffy. They were a strange couple to me. Spike never loved Buffy since a vampire is soulless and incapable of love. He was obsessed with her. I think he might have eventually loved her when he got his soul back. Riley actually loved her and I believe she did love him too. When she went to visit Angel in LA, she told Angel she loved Riley. Buffy’s actions showed that she loved Riley. For whatever reason, she just didn’t profess her love to him. It should have been Buffy and Riley in the end. If not Angel, it should have been Riley. Buffy deserved that kind of love after everything she did for Sunnydale and the world. She deserved to love a man who could love her in return and give her a life that is somewhat close to normalcy.
