Another huge request was to do Malificent and Pete who were looking for this damn black box the whole game. It's sad that we couldn't engage in a battle with them.....

While we all were wondering what was in the box, these two end up searching for it the whole game lol. Wish we got a chance to fight them, but it didn't happen :/

I don't know who the voice actor for maleficent is but she sounds so good almost exactly as she did in the movie.
Cyclops823 Maleficent’s VA is Susanne Blakeslee. And fun fact, Maleficent’s original voice actress, Eleanor Audley, also provided the original voice of Lady Tremaine from the original animated Cinderella film.

The only reason I even like KH3 is because Maleficent gets cutscenes!
Seeing Hades and Maleficent interact after all these years was a treat. I wish Disney villains were more relevant to the story.
The only other time I saw that happen in the past (apart from many episodes of the House of Mouse) was that one time Hercules the Animated Series did a crossover with Aladdin with the deceased Jafar teaming up with Hades to kill both their arch-enemies.
I liked that crossover, as Hades was pretty willing to make Jafar the new God of the Underworld once he conquered Mt. Olympus (which Jafar was fine with.)

You know, I always thought that was kinda rubbish? Like, okay, they're absolutely side-villains, but it's because Xehanort is just that big a threat. She still has her occasional flickers of awesome (like being the main antagonist essentially of Re:coded or her pretty solid performance in BBS despite not being too important there).
I can't deny that any longer. In KH3, they absolutely felt like Team Rocket. Specifically, I was reminded of the way Team Rocket was handled in the movies. They were just...there, because, well, they HAVE to be there, right? They're main antagonists, why WOULDN'T they be here? In fact there's a line from The 3rd Movie that's so easily applied here, and thinking of it is what made me come to my turning around on that.
Meowth (Pete): "Hey, Jesse (Maleficent,) I got a question it's better I shouldn't ask--you think we're gonna get a bigger part in the next movie (game)?"
That line just wouldn't leave my head when it occurred to me after beating KH3. Because, yeah, they really have just become Team Rocket, and that's just sad.

Pete has always been more comic relief than a threat (well, when Jim Cummings took over voicing him, anyway). Every time he speaks I can’t help but laugh or smirk.

In midst of more powerful core antagonists like Xehanort, Ansem and Xemnas, this villainous duo and their exploits are a personal fave element in KH. I guess Maleficent must've been getting clues about MoM's box from Xigbar (Probably the "dingbat in black") and surprisingly decided to stay in low profile for the entire game.
I think Pete was referring to Hades, who also wears black, as he was the one they got the clue from.

Well, Maleficent is one of the most powerful characters in Kingdom hearts series so i wouldn't consider Master Xehanort to be more powerful than her. I personally think that the only reason Xehanort managed to become a greater threat than Maleficent is his whole grand plan for the keyblade war plus the clash of Maleficent with many Keyblade wielders that weakened her through the years. When it comes to face to face battles i don't think Xehanort is stronger than Maleficent.

@@Hiiiiiiiiiiy Agreed. Canon Maleficent is the mistress of all evil and controls "all the powers of Hell"! She's basically the most powerful animated villain ever. But in Kingdom hearts universe she is really downgraded! She's still one of the strongest characters around just not as great as she appears to be in Sleeping beauty! She's pretty much on the same level of power with Master Xehanort, Xemnas and Xehanort's heartless.
One thing that I love about this, is the fact they used their same voice actor/actress even after years. I don't know about any of you butr I'm always scared to play a sequel after many years and only to find out they switched voice actors for many reasons i.e. many years passed, they can't book the actors anymore or the actors are busy with something else while the game is being made.
Danniel although they did unfortunately replace Xehanort’s voice actor as Leonard Nemoy passed away before they began production of the game.
From what I hear, James Woods likes playing Hades so much that he always voices him in anything. From TV Shows, Videogames and even Theme Park Audio.
I don't think he's ever turned down the role ever.
At the end Pete was like "Oh Boy what I would do for evil ?"

I suppose this is a Kingdom Hearts dialogue thing, but Maleficent appears and has one full line of dialogue before Sora, Donald and Goofy look up. And same goes for Pete when she says 'be silent, you fool!'
Maybe it's a stylistic choice, but I find it odd that those characters don't immediately realise that someone is saying something.
How does Malificent know all of these thing, those infomation, the Box and the book of prophecies, i thought all of that had been lost forever since there's nothing left behing after the keyblade war
Otaku Soul Maleficent is an immortal fairy. She was around to know of it all. She has been clashing with keyblade wielders forever. Hades is also immortal, a god. She was always getting clues from Hades about the black box.
When Riku/Xehanort's heartless stabbed her with his dark keyblade Maleficent's heart was seperated from her body and she realised that now she could time travel! Just like Master Xehanort told her when they met in the past. So she tried to travel back to the time when she lost to Prince Philip and Aqua, rewrite her defeat and start collecting the seven hearts of pure light all over again. But appearently she was caught in a trap and instead of travelling to the past she ended up into a fake world created by the Master of Masters, as explained to her by a dark figure named "darkness." And that's how Maleficent has knowledge of the Black box which according to her contains the book of prophecies which she desires. You may search for Kingdom hearts Union X and more of your questions will be answered.

Appearently she did not forget. And that's why "Darkness" doesn't want her to interfere with time any further. Because Maleficent's knowledge of the future events after Kingdom hearts III is a great threat for the worlds.

Maleficent will have a bigger role in the games to come. KHIII was the end of XEHANORT’S story so it was vital that all attention was aimed at him and the Organization and the Keyblade War. The Maleficent plot was a taste of what’s to come.
She didn't even need to be in the game then, if she were to do NOTHING at all. I'd rather her not be in then be in because Kingdom Hearts future games tease

I'm hoping Maleficent meets the Master of Masters, they'd have quite the conversation with the MoM being the comedian and Maleficent not amused. Then when the subject of the talk comes to the Book of Prophecies, the MoM would either be evasive or just hand her the Book
If that happens, the MoM would probably say something like: "No point keeping that book secret now. Most of the futures it predicted have already happened and the future powers it had have come to be. Soon the Book Prophecies will be no different from a powerless history book. And hey, who reads history books these days?"

Except she apparently didn't forget anything. If she did forget, she wouldn't be aware of stuff like the Book of Prophecies or the Book. Yet she remembers all of this. With Merlin, this is the second time an instance of time travel breaks the rules of the series and I bet it's going to be pretty significant.
Hades interacting with Pete and Maleficent is like Dissidia NT where all the Final Fantasy villains interact lmao
Man, I know Master of Masters and The Foretellers are the like, main villains now and all, but Nomura better give these two their time in the spotlight at the end of it all; he's building up to something.
Like, what if, it's the last game in the series, and Maleficent is the main Bad Guy one last time- new legion of villians and everything; her and Pete both get huge ass, like, idk, 16 phase final boss fights, they deserve it dammit lmao.
My interpretation of how they have been handled in the last few games is that Maleficent has learned from her previous experiences. The first two games created, she raised a massive army of heartless, worked with other villains, and ultimately turned out to be a pawn for someone else after Sora and his friends tore apart her army. It seems to me that she has decided she needs to approach the situation from a different angle if she wants to avoid that happening again. Case in point, by the end of this game she knows where the Black Box is and everyone appears to have forgotten that she and Pete exist. That offers a lot of potential.

I always do find it unusual to see Maleficent and Pete search for the Black Box in San Fransokyo of all places at 4:52-5:48. Wished they actually went to Arendelle or the Caribbean instead.

She and Pete will in order to get the Black Box from Luxu and the Foreteller's. Two will be revived, one will be freed from their prison and one will not accept the offer at first because they are working for alien police and on a capture mission but will change their mind later after they fail and get fired by the alien police then decide to join Maleficent and Pete.
Her headdress is the same as the "goat/xehanort" chess piece. I think she will become very relevant later.

Maleficent wants the book of prophecies, which tells of the future and can conjure beings from said times in the here and now. Maleficent wants foreknowledge, thus creating a temporal paradox by interfering.

Then, Mal was born? Actually... why can't we have a Descendants based world... or a KH based movie for Descendants, I even got the ideas for the characters:
The story takes place in the future, or whatever time does Descendants take place.
Sora and Kairi got married and got some twin siblings (kinda like a Ren and lin kagamine), Riku got married with Namine and got a boy protagonist, and Roxas got married with Xion and got a girl protagonist. Ventus, terra and aqua get cameoed as statues with the other protagonists too.
Meanwhile, at the isle:
Xemnas and Ansem are in there for their villainy, they created the “Citadel that never was” because the island was with a lot of villains and other persons, they got married with an unknown woman and got a son named: Xortaru (Arturo + X of Xehanort, at first I thought that the named could be Xortanurt being a pun of Arturo and Xehanort.) he is the first nobody ever born, like any other organization member, he wears a black coat, and also, for weapon he has a Tablet and a Ds Pencil, he can use it to make art and launch it to battle, with it, he can attack with every element spell of the whole organization (both first and true ones), his Nobody are called Painters, he has a secondary form that looks like a jellyfish (more likely, a Nihilego), his armor looks like a Xehanort Remant But with some extra apareance for it, kinda like a Owl design of it, more likely, a tecolote. He is for his young age the CEO of the Memory Skycraper of the city, and acts like a mafious godfather, his gang is consisted of other villain's sons, such as: The son of Frollo (his second in command), the daughter of Clayton, the daughter of the Mad Doctor, the “Heartless” Of Forte, and the daughter of King Candy/Turbo (I still need to know which other sons of other villains should I put for him though)
And then, there’s Vanitas.

KH has nothing to do with it. So it’s different in this game series.

Comparing these two to Team Rocket is a bit of a low blow, I'd say more Frieza and Nappa.
I WISH they were as well done as Frieza and Nappa in FighterZ. The writers actually gave a shit about writing them in a fun way in FighterZ. Maleficent and Pete in KH3? Nomura clearly doesn't actually want to write these characters in any fun way. Their function is totally utilitarian. *They're plot hole janitors.*

Something is off, she's clearly powerful but is waiting for the MoM's return. Maybe what she did in the Ancient past will explain her role for the next Saga (which is clearly a big one).

Favorite villain duo in the story. Maleficent was actually a good part of the story
Hopefully in the next game now that they found the box they'll get in Sora's way just like in kh2
They enhanced her theme by alot. I like that
The choir version in San Fransokyo was by far the best iteration of what I always thought was a pretty dull villain theme otherwise. I always thought Yoko Shimomura should just compose a new theme for her, based on the theme from the ballet used in the movie for her, and leave Villains of a Sort for the miscellaneous Disney villains, but if this is what we got to work with, I'd just use variations on choirs going forward for this theme for the next saga, since that was the only time the theme sounded even remotely interesting in the whole series.
And this is probably the only time I'll ever criticize Yoko Shimomura since otherwise she's a legend for a reason.
@@IHateThatHedgehog I've had a very obsessive desire for this theme. The original version of it could get very annoying. It would just feel very grating. And certain scenes she was in it would sound better than in others. Besides that it would feel very anticomplex. And the shorter version of it where her scenes would be shorter than usual would always sound good to me. It feels very strange on the part where she says "It is etched" I like how much more if feels but it still falls flat at times. Considering villains don't get themes as much with this much crafting makes it a pretty ok one imo
@@tacticwave3856 The variations of it in this game certainly went a long way in making it better in my opinion than the same ol' violins and occasional twittering flutes we've always gotten, that's for sure. Going to a "unique score for every cutscene" model as opposed to what KH used to do by having one piece for a certain situation, no matter if it fit or not, was one of the biggest upgrades this series got in KH3.

She wants to rule all worlds Ideally through using Kingdom Hearts herself and the organization wants to create Kingdom Hearts so that Master Xehanort can alter the universe. Not exactly the same thing and she cannot guarantee her goals will be fulfilled working with them. Besides, Master Xehanort has admitted that both he and his heartless and nobody have manipulated and used her in the past. If she has any knowledge of that then I doubt she would be inclined to work with him.
Let me ask this question. What was the point in including these two in the game if they weren’t gonna do anything with them! You could cut these two and nothing would change.
Maleficent is a Vessel of the Ancient Darkness, and because she knows where the Box is , and who set them on the search for it (Luxu), so too does Darkness. Further, it is implied she is intentionally making it look like she is following Sora around so that Luxu will think Maleficent doesn't realize it is a troll hint. Therefore when the Xehanort's Keyblade War ends, Luxu will reveal the Box to her.

Yeah Pete and Maleficent are looking for the Book of Prophecies, but what's more interesting is how she's in every world as Sora looking for it. At the Tangled world she tells pete that she isn't following them, so what is she following?
In my personal opinion, I think she's following Vanitas. At the end of KH3 when you beat Vanitas he tells Sora and Ventus that he IS darkness... Therefore she's following Sora's darkness that he sets aside, which is Vanitas. How else could she be following Sora into every world he goes to? Her intentions isn't to follow Sora but rather to follow Vanitas since he's the one who told her of the existence of the book in the first place. She's basically "tracing the connection" which always leads her to Sora.
Could be wrong though, so whaddaya think?

5:32 so at first, before KHUX update, it seemed when Maleficent was talking about 'when' she knew that Riku was more so like which Riku, or if it was Xehanort/Ansem. But now, this scenes makes so much more sense that it's Darkness himself from Daybreak, just taking the form of Riku and that is why she said 'When' because she was unsure of the time period.

Because Nomura doesn't give a toss about her arc. If it's not Sora, Riku, Xehanort, or avenging the loss of his FFXV, he just doesn't care.

I only wish that echo effect they had on her voice from KHII and BBS was kept. Made her seem more otherworldly and imposing for my money.

I know that Pete and Maleficent don't really do much in this game, but that's kind of why I love their inclusion in this game. One of the main villains of the first game and her right hand man just going on a treasure hunt. Not even sending a wave of heartless Sora's way. Just doing their own thing
In the ending scene of Kingdom Hearts III Pete and Maleficent discover that Luxu and the Foreteller's have the Black Box which would make them come up with a plan to take it from them by finding some new villain's to form a new alliance.
@@humangirl2122 Indeed, it seems that they have chosen to approach trying to take over the universe in a slightly different fashion than they attempted in the previous games. It seems Maleficent is trying to use a different approach this time around and that could work in her favor.
