    Hello Helen,
I am having an issue when I use Command, option, shift , and T - Photoshp CC is simply generating the shape over and over on the same layer, it is not creating a new layer for each shape. Any suggestion?

      same problem

Ok, this is super weird. Here is the solution. To get Photoshop to put the shapes on different layers, once you've done the Free Transform and pressed Enter (or the Commit checkmark), go to the Layers palette and click away from the shape layer - clicking in the empty area below the Background layer is perfect. This deselects the second (top) shape layer.
NOW, click on that top shape layer and do your Control + Alt + Shift + T (Command + Option + Shift + T) keyboard shortcut again.
I can duplicate your issue on the PC and that works to fix it for me. Hopefully it works similarly on the Mac.

@@HelenBradley I had the same problem and your fix didn't work. But what did work was changing the layer to "smart object". Then the key shortcut created a new layer each time. Thanks for the tutorial!

I had the same problem. Nothing of the above doesn't work, but I succeed with: first, create a new layer with the shape Crt+J, then Ctr+Shift+T or Ctr+Shift+Alt+T. It's fast and easy.

Excellent tutorial, precise and professional. Gave me all the answers I needed to build my sunburst right the first time and without wasting any of my time on superfluous dialog. Best Photoshop instruction I've found on youtube.

As I’m pressing the T the layers dont split up so i can color individual layers.

    can I animate it?

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah you could. You’ll need to have a look at Photoshop animation techniques and you could rotate it around in steps and have it spin. It’s a cool idea. I might add it to my video list.

@@HelenBradley I kind a got it... I made it, then took it to illustrator, then image trace, make and expand, and I re colored it. I made it 3 times bigger, and put it in after effects, then I added 2 keyframs for rotation, and since I made it 3 times bigger,it didn't show black on the corners.
Thank you for a great toturial!:)

I'M USING CC 2021. I'M NOT GETTING A NEW LAYER WITH COMMAND+ OPTION+SHIFT+T ... I AM GETTING A NEW SHAPE, BUT IT'S NOT ON A NEW LAYER... AND, EVEN THOUGH I'M ON A SHAPE LAYER, WHEN I GO TO SELECT FREE TRANSFORM, I'M ONLY GETTING AN OPTION TO 'FREE TRANSFORM PATH'. SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE.

      Hi Ncole Amy
I have a solution for you. Now, before we get to that, please know that I always try to help people so there's no need to use all caps to get my attention. I see every comment (including yours), and every question and I feel everyone's anxiety to solve their personal issues with the software. Where I can, I always try to help.
So, now it's Monday and I have access to a computer to test this, I can duplicate your issue. The reason you are seeing Free Transform Path is that you have a path selection tool selected and that's not the tool you need to use at this point. So, go to the top of the tools palette and click the Move tool and try again from the beginning of making a copy of the layer and performing the rotation. Start the video around 1:40 and you'll see the tool I have selected (that's the one you need to select).
It worked for me in Photoshop CC 2021 so I am sure it will work for you. Best of luck.

@@HelenBradley Thank you so much for the quick reply. I should have caught that myself, but some days are just like that, yes? I adore your videos, and rather envious of your know how; Photoshop, Illustrator, affinity! Wow, where do you store all that information? You have got to have one heck of a memory. And, ... The caps, completely unintentional. I just happened to be working with caps prior to finding your video, and (this is so pathetic), I was already half way through my blurb and was just too lazy to type everything again.
