I've actually had this theory for a while now that Sly's attraction to Carmelita may be hereditary and that all the Coopers (not counting Bob) have all been attracted to people in law enforcement with the possibility of Sly's Mom being a cop before settling down with Sly's Dad.

In this gameplay, you're in Paris, France....playing as Sly's father (in his mid to late teens) and you're on a mission to prevent this international "Mistress of Disguise" from stealing something important. This begs the question in the orphanage did Sly, Bentley, and Murray never got adopted to a new family when they were little kids or they decided to run away from that orphanage together from the mean headmistress Mrs. Puffin who be stealing cookies to herself not giving any of them to the orphan kids ?
My theory is just the super plain, Sly's father tried to protect his family, everyone died except Sly. All for Sucker Punch to add more mystery behind Sly's background. His mother was probably never a thief and therefore just dismissed by the company. They also probably hid his fathers face so they can do a huge reveal within the last game.
Ehh pretty generic and cliche if it's true. I just think Sly's parents are so mysterious because they're not important. They were another time, another generation. This story is about Sly and his legacy. I don't think we absolutely need to know everything about his parents. Adding mystery to his origin makes him more interesting.

Before this video I actually thought about Sly meeting his younger self and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a twist like that since the game has already put some twists out there like the Penelope betrayal. What if Sly's mom actually survived the fiendish fives attack and is trying to find Sly? But never got to since he is a thief. Awesome theory by the way! Although, Clockwerk explained that he spared Sly in order to prove that Coopers are nothing without the book. Maybe, his mom didn't want anything to do with him (very sad) and sent him to an orphanage? Anyways, Sly was probably sent to the orphanage by someone random, making the story a lot simpler. I own both comics. They took FOREVER to find at a price that wouldn't break the bank. Fun fact: Inspector Fox actually swears at Sly in the first issue. Also I'm glad you saw the portrait. I have been playing through the games again and when I saw it . . . I can't tell you what I felt . . . sort of a strange excitement for some reason.
What if a mini plot is that after sly goes back he wants to change the past and the gang has to actually stop him and it would be a really cool friendship thing

I think that they will reveal sly's father in the last sly cooper game and then never make another game about it. because when that happens, there is nothing more to fight or. he met his father and his the members of his family and put all the rivals of him in jail. what can they do after? maybe travelling to the future or something like that.

Yeah to this day we have some facts about Mr. Cooper who his first name is Connor Cooper but we have no facts about Mrs. Cooper. In my opinion we don't know how Connor met Mrs. Cooper and to make things less confusing when Sly said "My father fought to protect us" this indicated that only Connor defended his young son and his wife so it turns out that Connor is the only one who was murdered by the Fiendish Five. Sly's mom Mrs. Cooper is nowhere to be seen so we're left with a thought whether she's out of the house for a while. When she arrives back home she was devastated when she discovers that her husband was murdered and the Thievius Racconus is ripped and stolen by the Fiendish Five. To explain the part where Sly ended up in the orphanage I would say that Sly's mom fell into severe depression that she couldn't take care of Sly that she sends him to the orphanage and at that point I believe that was the last time Sly gets to see his mom. So Sly's mom has been a total mystery but I believe in Sly 5 when Sly is reunited with his crew, Bentley and Murray and hopefully Penelope if she truly redeems herself and is exonerated and his girlfriend Carmelita they all get back together and when Bentley tries to locate where Mrs. Cooper is right now Sly can truly reunite with his long-lost mother and at that point Sly and his mom all hug each other as Sly's mom finally recovers from her depression and is glad to see her son all grown up together with his friends. For Carmelita I believe she might reopen the case of the Fiendish Five and there would be a retrial of the Fiendish Five excluding Clockwerk who is dead and the Panda King who is now living with his daughter and is exonerated. The Fiendish Five that would face the retrial are Sir Raleigh, Muggshot and Mz. Ruby and they're all convicted of first-degree murder of Connor Cooper and all their prison sentences would be changed to either Life Imprisonment without the possibility of parole or Capital Punishment. Long answer short Sly's mom has an ambiguous fate either she's dead or still alive.
Great theory but there is one big hitch: Sly is stuck in ancient Egypt (look up the secret ending of thieves in time) so he has no way to time travel right now

I loved the theory and it is one of the best I've heard. I have to say that it is unlikely that the story would go that way:( It is to risky for the company. The theory seems a little bit to complex for a relatively simple video game. Although the picture and stuff would make sense. I have a theory that sly grew more and more powerful and eventually went back in time and either taught slightenkammon or is slightenkomman. This would make sense how it all started. I have to wonder how the cooper line spread through the world though. I am on the edge of working out a theory that every cooper is just one time tracking individual. Well, what can I say? Its been a long time, and it was one of his best memories, so it's possible that Carmalita was edited out to make it a perfect memory. You know how a humans memory changes over time, the same could happen here.
No, I mean that sly's memories grew hazier over time, and Carmalita vanished completely. You know no one can remember their childhood very clearly, it's like that.
In sly 2 there is a cheat for this thing called TOM. TOM works like the alarm clock, but he either says "Hey, hey, HEY", or "Hey, hey, penuts". This could possibly be a toy Sly had as a kid and uses still today.
That time traveling being linked with sky's parents really does make sense but this theory could be the reason why sucker punch gave away the franchise and now that it's owned by a different company this will never get explained
Here's my theory (btw I haven't played sly 4 or 1) My theory is that sly cooper takes place in the future where global warming and solar flares melt the ice caps easing the water levels and plunging the world into chaos. Here's why 1 If this happened the world would turn to violence and chaos and in sly cooper we see people murder slys parents and take of with a prized possession. And what do the police do? NOTHING because after the something as catastrophic as the caps melting the police force would be weak and with few numbers. 2 In sly cooper we that most of the maps are either high above on a mountain, next to water or both. That's because after the water rose people went to higher ground or stayed letting the water engulf those at a lower elevation. 3 In sly every time you enter a level guards shoot at you even before you commit a crime. Also no civilians are seen, the guards on high alert and always shoot to kill. This is because after the chaos erupted people banded together in tight communities killing those outside of there own group. The communities all know each other since there small so when they see an unfamiliar face they immediately attack. 4 You never see any cars or trucks that aren't carrying weapons and the weapons they do carry are laser weapons witch don't exist yet.
That would create a time paradox, the Cooper line would not continue on and they would be stuck in an endless loop. If you ask from me, they chose to not reveal Conner's face to create mystery and Sly's mom was killed during it. But she is not mentioned because she is not that important to the story.
This theory gives brainfarts and sounds far-fetched I know haha. And I agree, this creates a time loop. Sure, the parents aren't important to the story, but to leave them out in all games... I don't seems weird, like why?
Should point out in the Recap for Sly 2, Sly talks about clockwork and says and I quote "Eventually he caught up with my parents" parents... as in plural... (yes I know this video came out like 6 years ago buttttttt my OCD requires me to correct the statement of his mom not being present at the time of the murder)
also I have a theory and it's about how ratchet and Clank remake. what if ratchet and clank went back in time and went before the series began. I do have proof about it like how Dr. nefarious is not a robot yet. maybe before up your arsenal dr. nefarious was not a robot but a alien or human. instead of quark killing nefarious what if ratchet and clank killed him. this could be one reason why nefarious hates ratchet and clank so much. what I mean is ratchet went back in time when clank was made and nefarious was not a robot. it could be ratchet as the murder and not clank. maybe clank does not know this and it's a secret. I don't really know if it can be true and it's the remake so I guess nefarious is like that but I think you should find more proof and make a video about it so whata you think about that?

I think the point of having Sly's father being hidden (except for the little Sly4 cutscene) is that he is a mystery man. An ambiguous figure that no one knows except him. For the mother, I am not sure. But what if...this may sound farfetched..what if any memory of her is wiped off? Like for some reason it maybe...she must have did something to have some portions of her memory erased or messed with. Maybe to protect herself, her kid, some other agenda? We may never know. I am not sure if I brought this up earlier or not but I do believe that Penelope's inclusion in the Medieval level is a reference to the Black Plague. Not just for her being a mouse in England, but her black themed disguised as a call back to the black plague. Am I the only one who thought of this?

+VtnVivi What if she had no choice but to give him up? Since the Coopers are well known criminals, CPS might played a role in placing Sly in the orphanage. His mother sure is mysterious. Maybe more than his dad. Not to sound like a buzzkill but I've seen some stories where they use the "missing mom" trope. Even if the mother had an equal part as the father, the character will usually be concern more about the dad figure. Not all stories, but some stories. I could be wrong but that's just my thoughts.

Vtnvivi, I think it's cool that sly helped his younger self with carmalita, at least in beginning. It sounds more likely to me(if slys father's name is Conner how can sly be his own father unless it's his biological father.
+AJay We know that Sly is stuck in Ancient Egypt at the end of Thieves in Time and according to the Thievius Raccoonus a Cooper did live in that time. If Sly 5 is a thing, time travel will need to be involved if Sly is to reunite with his friends.
I think the nature of time travel in the series makes the web of theories you posited possible at the very least. I'm sure sucker punch planned the story out way beyond sly 3 and instructed Sanzu accordingly. I like the idea that sly's father figure and mother figure are actually an older sly and Carmelita. I don't see any reason to think that isn't possible, and I think the loop could lead to more complex , interesting, and darker stories in the future. I just hope sucker punch goes back to sly. The mechanics in sly 4 aren't nearly as clean as sly 2 or 3.

well, if you don't kill your younger self, then you should still exist. But, influencing your younger self might cause trouble. Your younger self might die at one point and you simply vanish like you mentioned.
Funny head cannon: when sly and the gang try to get back to their own time they wind up in the same time as the cookie hiest to see their younger selves being chased by a younger version of Carmalita with a cap gun. Just imagine their expressions!

Remember the secret ending to Sly 4? I'm sure you've heard this theory thousands of times by now but I think Sly was sent back to Ancient Egypt (Thus explaining the desert in the ending) and he meets his ancestor there. Well, it just so happens that his ancestor is in the process of writing the Thievius Raccoonus. Sly plants a note in the book thus causing it to change for Bentley which allows him to take the time machine and rescue Sly.
My headcanon has always been that sly's mom was the daughter of of a mobboss and that she's still around and taking over her family business, she just rather Sly follow in her father's footsteps than become a mobboss.

I’m gonna be honest.. Carmelita fox being the mother doesn’t sound far fetched to me. Because if you really think about it. How would she know so much about the coopers if she never caught one.. and how would she as a cop would be the one that gets closest to catching sly compared to the other ones. Sure she has files and stuff but let’s not forgot the other cops would also have access to those files. But as far as I know or remember the only cop who seems to be chasing sly. Is Carmelita fox. This would most likely mean she knew a cooper. Which In turn would give her enough experience to either catch a cooper who as she always does get really close to catching one. Therefore it’s very well possible Carmelita could be Sly’s mother. And the only way she could be his mother would be if Sly’s parents weren’t with him when he was a baby. And there’s a secret ending I saw on TH-cam for sly cooper thieves in time where sly seems to be in someplace like or is Egypt so maybe Carmelita decided to have Bentley send her back in time to when sly was a baby. And sly might’ve ended up in a different location so eventually Carmelita and Sly ended up meeting and for sly to raise his younger self he had to look different then what he usually does and that’s most likely why sly has the same cane as his father. And Carmelita as to not cause the timeline to change too much she had to leave sly. Which a possible reason sly never mentioned his is because Carmelita was never in his life at that point all he knew is that he had a mother but never knew her name. So I really don’t find you theory that far fetched

I feel like if sucker punch saw this video it would motivate them to start working on the next game because this gives them a lot to play with (story wise) I like this mysterious feel to the video also...I think it would be very interesting if they went with this theory: Sly is working with mcsweeny & dr M (but sly's real name is Connor or Connor is just a name that sly made up to keep it a secret that he went back in the past to raise kid sly because his biological parents are trapped in an unknown time period by a unknown villain maybe clockwerk or Penelope idk ) so once he goes back to raise kid sly into the ultimate thief. Clockwerk made himself immortal so he could kill the cooper clan he and the fiendish five track down sly/Connor to kill him but he fakes his death which is why kid sly doesn't fade from existence and sly/Connor fakes his death to make kid sly want vengeance on his fathers death hence (sly 1,2,&3) I could say more but sucker punch could make it make sense

I'm having a hard time thinking if this would be possible from the mysteries of Sly's childhood before being on his own with Bentley and Murray.

Yeah to this day we have some facts about Mr. Cooper who his first name is Connor Cooper but we have no facts about Mrs. Cooper. In my opinion we don't know how Connor met Mrs. Cooper and to make things less confusing when Sly said "My father fought to protect us" this indicated that only Connor defended his young son and his wife so it turns out that Connor is the only one who was murdered by the Fiendish Five. Sly's mom Mrs. Cooper is nowhere to be seen so we're left with a thought whether she's out of the house for a while. When she arrives back home she was devastated when she discovers that her husband was murdered and the Thievius Racconus is ripped and stolen by the Fiendish Five. To explain the part where Sly ended up in the orphanage I would say that Sly's mom fell into severe depression that she couldn't take care of Sly that she sends him to the orphanage and at that point I believe that was the last time Sly gets to see his mom.
So Sly's mom has been a total mystery but I believe in Sly 5 when Sly is reunited with his crew, Bentley and Murray and hopefully Penelope if she truly redeems herself and is exonerated and his girlfriend Carmelita they all get back together and when Bentley tries to locate where Mrs. Cooper is right now Sly can truly reunite with his long-lost mother and at that point Sly and his mom all hug each other as Sly's mom finally recovers from her depression and is glad to see her son all grown up together with his friends. For Carmelita I believe she might reopen the case of the Fiendish Five and there would be a retrial of the Fiendish Five excluding Clockwerk who is dead and the Panda King who is now living with his daughter and is exonerated. The Fiendish Five that would face the retrial are Sir Raleigh, Muggshot and Mz. Ruby and they're all convicted of first-degree murder of Connor Cooper and all their prison sentences would be changed to either Life Imprisonment without the possibility of parole or Capital Punishment.
Long answer short Sly's mom has an ambiguous fate either she's dead or still alive.

I loved the theory and it is one of the best I've heard. I have to say that it is unlikely that the story would go that way:( It is to risky for the company. The theory seems a little bit to complex for a relatively simple video game. Although the picture and stuff would make sense. I have a theory that sly grew more and more powerful and eventually went back in time and either taught slightenkammon or is slightenkomman. This would make sense how it all started. I have to wonder how the cooper line spread through the world though. I am on the edge of working out a theory that every cooper is just one time tracking individual. Maybe at the end of each coopers life they go back in time and un age themselves into a child for them past selves to raise. And the first cooper was sly from the future. Here's my theory (btw I haven't played sly 4 or 1)
My theory is that sly cooper takes place in the future where global warming and solar flares melt the ice caps easing the water levels and plunging the world into chaos. Here's why
1 If this happened the world would turn to violence and chaos and in sly cooper we see people murder slys parents and take of with a prized possession. And what do the police do? NOTHING because after the something as catastrophic as the caps melting the police force would be weak and with few numbers.
2 In sly cooper we that most of the maps are either high above on a mountain, next to water or both. That's because after the water rose people went to higher ground or stayed letting the water engulf those at a lower elevation.
3 In sly every time you enter a level guards shoot at you even before you commit a crime. Also no civilians are seen, the guards on high alert and always shoot to kill. This is because after the chaos erupted people banded together in tight communities killing those outside of there own group. The communities all know each other since there small so when they see an unfamiliar face they immediately attack.
4 You never see any cars or trucks that aren't carrying weapons and the weapons they do carry are laser weapons witch don't exist yet.

If you ask from me, they chose to not reveal Conner's face to create mystery and Sly's mom was killed during it. But she is not mentioned because she is not that important to the story.
This theory gives brainfarts and sounds far-fetched I know haha. And I agree, this creates a time loop. Sure, the parents aren't important to the story, but to leave them out in all games... I don't seems weird, like why?

I think the point of having Sly's father being hidden (except for the little Sly4 cutscene) is that he is a mystery man. An ambiguous figure that no one knows except him. For the mother, I am not sure.
But what if...this may sound farfetched..what if any memory of her is wiped off? Like for some reason it maybe...she must have did something to have some portions of her memory erased or messed with. Maybe to protect herself, her kid, some other agenda? We may never know.
I am not sure if I brought this up earlier or not but I do believe that Penelope's inclusion in the Medieval level is a reference to the Black Plague. Not just for her being a mouse in England, but her black themed disguised as a call back to the black plague. Am I the only one who thought of this?

His mother sure is mysterious. Maybe more than his dad. Not to sound like a buzzkill but I've seen some stories where they use the "missing mom" trope. Even if the mother had an equal part as the father, the character will usually be concern more about the dad figure. Not all stories, but some stories. I could be wrong but that's just my thoughts.

I think the nature of time travel in the series makes the web of theories you posited possible at the very least. I'm sure sucker punch planned the story out way beyond sly 3 and instructed Sanzu accordingly. I like the idea that sly's father figure and mother figure are actually an older sly and Carmelita. I don't see any reason to think that isn't possible, and I think the loop could lead to more complex
, interesting, and darker stories in the future. I just hope sucker punch goes back to sly. The mechanics in sly 4 aren't nearly as clean as sly 2 or 3.

well, if you don't kill your younger self, then you should still exist. But, influencing your younger self might cause trouble. Your younger self might die at one point and you simply vanish like you mentioned.
Funny head cannon: when sly and the gang try to get back to their own time they wind up in the same time as the cookie hiest to see their younger selves being chased by a younger version of Carmalita with a cap gun. Just imagine their expressions!

I'm sure you've heard this theory thousands of times by now but I think Sly was sent back to Ancient Egypt (Thus explaining the desert in the ending) and he meets his ancestor there. Well, it just so happens that his ancestor is in the process of writing the Thievius Raccoonus. Sly plants a note in the book thus causing it to change for Bentley which allows him to take the time machine and rescue Sly.

I’m gonna be honest.. Carmelita fox being the mother doesn’t sound far fetched to me. Because if you really think about it. How would she know so much about the coopers if she never caught one.. and how would she as a cop would be the one that gets closest to catching sly compared to the other ones. Sure she has files and stuff but let’s not forgot the other cops would also have access to those files. But as far as I know or remember the only cop who seems to be chasing sly. Is Carmelita fox. This would most likely mean she knew a cooper. Which In turn would give her enough experience to either catch a cooper who as she always does get really close to catching one. Therefore it’s very well possible Carmelita could be Sly’s mother. And the only way she could be his mother would be if Sly’s parents weren’t with him when he was a baby. And there’s a secret ending I saw on TH-cam for sly cooper thieves in time where sly seems to be in someplace like or is Egypt so maybe Carmelita decided to have Bentley send her back in time to when sly was a baby. And sly might’ve ended up in a different location so eventually Carmelita and Sly ended up meeting and for sly to raise his younger self he had to look different then what he usually does and that’s most likely why sly has the same cane as his father. And Carmelita as to not cause the timeline to change too much she had to leave sly. Which a possible reason sly never mentioned his is because Carmelita was never in his life at that point all he knew is that he had a mother but never knew her name. So I really don’t find you theory that far fetched
