The love is real and she doesn't blindly let her job get in the way of showing her humanity or vice versa. It's a shame that her portrayal in Sly 2 is rather bland compared to the first and third games since they gave the lion's share of dialogue to Neyla.
For personal matters these chases are interesting. Carmelita is one of the best video game police cops ever and she's also a skilled combatant and she's able to catch and defeat criminals with her hands and feet in combat. But Sly on the other proves to be Carmelita's greatest challenge yet and Sly Cooper's a hard criminal to catch which is like a rivalry game of cat and mouse. Sly and Carmelita could be allies and the best of friends if Sly wasn't a criminal or frenemies but a relationship of them being a couple is complicated. The Sly Cooper franchise really needs to come back with more games and Sly Cooper and the franchise needs more love and appreciation.
I always liked the "Battery in Peril" mission a lot despite how short it is since it switches things up and has you controlling Carmelita in order to catch Sly, (which you can also do in the "Cops and Robbers" multiplayer game in Sly 3.) It also kinda funny to me that the moment the player has control of her, she ends up being a much better shot, even though I know that Sly was wanting to get shot to fill up the battery.
