Translator here. The timer is actually repurposed by the author to show something other than the time itself. In this case, it’s showing the number of packets transmitted. So if “[Number of Packet] Host B : Host C” has value “04: 26”. It means there are 4 packets in host B and 26 packets in host C. Every time a packet is transmitted, you will see the number before colon decrease by 1 and the number after it increase by 1. So they are basically counters. This is a bit confusing first, but you will be getting used to it since you will see it again in later missions.
@ At the moment I think the packet-counter is Global Timer, and the packet-timer is a dummy SW (if true, that'd be very interesting; how'd one code a dummy SW that does nothing without Ares?)
Ok, mission 2. I got confused by the updated timer mechanic as well at first, but it's pretty simple: 1. The above timer is the actual countdown when a packet is transmitted from one server to another, with the specific servers indicated. 2. The below timer is not a countdown, but a quantity measurement - the first number always shows how many packets of data are left in the first server (for example A), the second number shows how many are left in the second server (for example B). If you capture a server which still has packets in it, the first number becomes how many packets were intercepted with the capture of that server. The transfer between the next servers starts, with the second number being how many packets of data are left in the second server (for example B), and the third number being how many packets of data are left in the third server (for example C). When the above timer hits zero, a packet is transferred from server A to server B. When all packets from server A are transferred, the timer starts transferring from server B to server C and so on, until we reach server D. The "loss" of packets comes when the AI starts transferring packets from server D to God knows where (it is only indicated as lost). Mission hack: If you capture server D while transfers are ongoing between other servers, or even you haven't captured all other servers, the transfers and the above timer will stop and you will have all the time in the world to complete the mission, which is ONLY to capture all servers. The below timer would then show how many packets are left in each uncaptured other server. Of course, you would have to protect server D from being recaptured by the enemy, if it is recaptured, the transfers and timers will resume. Yuri's base is in the north-west corner of the map, but there are a lot of cliffs around the base offering the enemy protection and defensive capabilities, so unless you have server D captured and secured like Fort Knox, I would advise against trying to explore and attack the enemy base. Easter Eggs: To the west of server B there is a Grinder, if destroyed, it will get you a money crate. To the east of server C there are 2 more oil derricks, but the mountains have a lot of Yuri Statues and Gattling Cannons. You can clear them out one at a time with Black Eagle air strikes, or try to ignore them completely. This won't be the last time you will encounter this timer mechanic, btw, so be ready :)
*Very* interesting use of the game's timer. 16:16 that bus station is funny. 21:10 I hope you still have the auto-generated except text to give the mapper. 25:22 nice cul-de-sac Well, that was a very short but interesting mission. Also, the outro highlights how strings can be (ab) used in this game.
Translator here. String is super difficult to work with and it’s why the translation takes so long. The original text in Chinese is often quite short, but it became longer in English. When it gets too long bad things start to happen (sometimes it overflow and does not display correctly, even worse it can crash the game)
when the cute Lieutenant said... "Warning: Enemy Armored Battalion Detected" then suddenly, a group of Allied Forces are arriving in the East part of the Map with the Tank Destroyers Edit: i like the Tank Destroyer said the line "Deutschland's Finest"
Not sure if it is me but with each stage, video, You seem to get more and more clumsy :P. Might be just me watching too much of others. Anyhoo, thanks for another video and waiting for the next!
After I play that mission and failure few times, I am understood about trigger the mission, wait till all package being transferred in one place, then capture all packages and no worry about lose more package, after that, it only walk on the park
Expect more of an introduction to the mission? Why? You're a bunch of IT guys sent to deal with some maintenance work... it's not like Yuri set up a base or anything :P

IIRC Mental Omega also had a (fan-made?) mission where the timer is used as a counter like here.
But how can we have two global timers at the same time?

@@MYAceb I might be but I am also making a blind play-through for each of these missions. The difference, at least for me is massive.
@tg.Sacred Yeah, can imagine and relate.
@@tg.Sacred thing is also you play on speed 60 fps which is too fast, too bad there isn't 45 fps, either 30 or 60, either SLOW or SPEED xD
Keep up the good work 💪👍
Been here since 2019🔥
OK. I love the music.. 😍😍😍
Well, good luck in The Witness, you will have a new unit to do, it's valuable for all remaining mission
Air-only accessible high-grounds as defense points for units? Interesting map detail.
Spam mirage tanks FTW
Those viruses and magnetron are pain in the ass indeed

that was cool little mission. would of thought you'd had to destroy the rest of yuri's forces at the end. oh well.

Can you teach me how to install this mod ? thank you
Download the files on the description and paste them in your ra2 folder. There are also instructions inside.

It took me couple of tries, i always lost all my vehicles in the 4th base
That timer thingy is so confusing 😭
First
We want mental omega
Wait till next year
so what were those data?
Browser history of the President.
Nevada is home to Nellis AFB and Naval Base Fallon. I'd assume it had data from those bases.
