How lucky was I? I booked a very inexpensive cruise all over N.Z. and just returned from there. The weather and the locals were great. I know many others who had paid for expensive trips during January and their cruise couldn't cruise into many ports because of the last Auckland flooding.
It's the poor drainage systems not being maintained and poor infrastructure causing flooding in certain areas throughout the country. The wind is strong/blustery and a cause for concern fallen trees, slips, powerlines down as well as power outages.some houses on hills ended up falling down with the slips leaving people scared with nothing but the clothes they are standing in.Very sad sight to witness. My condolence to those that have lost loved ones during this cyclone.

Yes. But also an older guy climbing on a wet slippery roof with a drill and fire services holding the ladder. No safety harness so I hope they were prepared to catch him!
Not to be a Debbie downer but people should be staying away from beaches/bodies of water during this time. Kite surfing during a cyclone would certainly get views and likes but if things go wrong emergency services will have to go rescue these thrill-seekers. Pretty sure rescuers are stretched thin. im not sure where you get your information about farmers but its not true as farmers we send our products to the market where we are given the price they want to pay and it is never the prices that are charged in the shops an eg . i sent in beans one year i got 3 dollars a kg the supermarket priced them at 10 per kg and there are many other crops we send in and the same result happens . so no we as farmers are not to fault for the prices the supermarkets are or the government is .
