Bro, you are heaven-sent. I did this procedure after struggling with jerking during deceleration for some time and my problems are gone. My mech was telling me to buy a new gearbox. Can't thank you enough.
Worked on the first try in my 20 CX5 GTR non turbo. What a difference, like the car came right out the factory. No more lurching and boggin down in slow or stop and go traffic! Thanks man, keep up these videos!
Maybe you can help me, nobody else is answering. At the 3 minute mark of the video he says go to up shift and hold for five seconds, then he says move up to up shift? But he’s already in up shift. Does he mean down shift or just back to normal manual neither up nor down…nobody will answer this question
I came here from reddit with low hopes of fixing the jerkiness issue on my 2021 CX-5, and Holy shit this worked. I can't believe a 4 minute video solved the issue. Absolutely fantastic! If there is a heaven up there, you better be going.
The last move, he’s in manual up shift then he says to move forward to up shift. Doesn’t he mean down shift? Then he says keep it manual and don’t do anything. Very confusing. Any help ??? Thanks
for everyone who is trying this and hasn’t been able to get it to work I tried probably 10 or 15 times until I read somebody’s post that said you really have to mash the brake pedal, so I tried It really mashing the brake pedal down hard and the first time I tried after doing that it worked. Now that I think about it while the transmission is relearning and you can feel it cycling through the clutches they probably don’t want you to move or lurch forward so trust me when I say you got a press hard I mean hard like the last little bit the pedal travels, I did the relearn on mine, because after breaking in my vehicle, I think I was a little overly cautious, and develop some bad behaviors that it learns like accelerating to speed, and then completely leading off the gas pedal instead of gently backing off
On my 2016 Scion iA, just mashing the brake didn't work. It wasn't until I set the parking brake and then mashed the brake that it worked. Unsure if I had to mash the brake pedal in my case or if just setting the parking brake would have done it. But I mashed the brake pedal anyway. In case anyone's wondering why it didn't work on their iA.
Really valuable information, I've been trying to do this for the past year and always failed at it until I've read this comment. This should be mentioned in the video as a mandatory not just have your foot on the brake. Worked on my 2014 cx5
Hey, just wanted to give you a big thanks, my cars been jerking during heavy traffic for over 2 years. Since I'm very prone to motion sickness it made me feel awful on a daily basis. But now I can finally drive in peace
Ran into small issue getting this to work....and yes it completely fixed the issue once I got it working. Thank you 21Mazda3Turbo! At 2:55 in the video, he says "Shift from Manual upshift back to manual upshift".....what is should be is Manual + to Manual - and hold for 5 seconds. RPM's should increase on their own. Release shifter but leave in M while it does it's thing. When idle returns to normal, you can return to P and turn off car or drive. Brilliant. Thanks again OP.
Thank you for this video. You just saved me from 2 years of struggling with the transmission on my 2018 Mazda3! 150k miles on ours and we were experiencing very delayed and harsh shifting that even passengers could feel. We did a full pan drop, filter and fluid 3x over the span of 20k miles with no improvements. Thought the transmission was truly a goner and was going to drop $5K to replace it. I was very skeptical of this relearn procedure being able to help or do anything since I've done it before on other cars and it didn't make a difference. Well color me surprised, because this fixed all my issues. It's 95% better, a HUGE improvement! I have to be realistic on that last 5% because it won't shift like new due to the high mileage it already has. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. I can't thank you enough!
As others have stated, thank you! I live in a hilly area so the trans needs this done frequently and I was getting them to perform it at the service intervals, now I don’t need to worry about them potentially charge me for it or go in just to have it done and lose an hour of my day. It took me 3 tries, I realized I wasn’t holding the shifter in M- WHILE hitting the start button, as you did when you crossed your left hand over with the camera at 2:29, then it worked as described on our 2017 CX-5! Thanks again!
You saved me thousands of euros with this video and tutorial. At least I can like and comment this amazing video! Thank you a lot, you one very good man! I hope that now I am done with it. Experience after 4 months. Jerking has successfully stopped but shifting from forth to fifth gear had "pull". I have cleaned whole sistem and pulling problem was still there. After couple of expensive fuel tanks problem is gone. Now it's shifting like a brand new car.
Thanks, I've just completed it and it seems to work. I didn't tested it yet but I hope it will shift better. There is an error in the video that can be misleading. At about 3:10 he says that you must "push forward to manual upshift". That's false because you are already in manual upshift and you need to push forward to manual downshift. At this time you need to press hard on the brake otherwise the process won't start.
Bro, you are awesome! I was having this weird issue every time I decelerated to 25 mph there would be a slight jolt. It was making me crazy. I came across your video and followed your steps exactly and now the jolt is gone! I am so appreciative. Thank you!
I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!! It fixed my 2017 Mazda 3 Touring transmission issue. I stressed over this for the longest time & now I am very thankful to God that I found your video. My car runs beyond smooth & the downshifting is super smooth. I am very thankful & would recommend this to all Mazda users ❤️
Sir! Thank you so much for this! It's refreshing to know that Mazda has this manual feature all car owners can do, and it's a blessing you shared it. Thank you! 🙌🙏
I did this to my 2018 6 today as I just bought it used and started to notice some jerking when shifting. I though my trans was toast until I found this.... simply brilliant sir. Thanks!
This completely fixed my 2018 CX5 jerking problem. Car couldn’t pick a gear between 1-2 and 2-3. Shifted super hard from 2nd to first. 5-10 mph was always jumping and jerking. THANK YOU!!
@Eng.Valkov90 Literally everything he does, do it verbatim. I followed exactly what I saw his body do in the video and it worked. Even on a 2016. Good luck!
This is what TH-cam was made for! Tried it on a 2020 3 that had a habit of taking FOREVER to upshift from 4th-5th-6th in sports mode, had to do it manually most of the time. Now it's silky smooth, no hesitation, awesome tip! You gotta mash that brake pedal though. I practiced the steps first, until I could do it without watching the video, worked second time.
Dude! I have 2017 Mazda3 Sport with about 168k mi. Started getting rough shift into 3rd, both accel and decel, to the point of a hard thunk. Been getting worse over last 15k or so. Did this trick (took 2 attempts) and it is back to smooth as warm butter! Thanks!
Thanks so much! This helped fix a weird 1-2 shift issue in my 2014 Mazda 3. The transmission would like hesitate to shift, kinda like it was slipping a clutch in-between the gear shifts then when the gear selected it would jerk. It only happened when the car was in the automatic D mode. When switched the manual mode and doing the 1-2 shift it didn't do that weird shift. So I assumed it was a programming issue. This cleared it right up. Noticed it as soon as I left the pakring lot I did the relearn in.
Wow, this is one of the most useful videos I've seen on youtube. My CX-9 feels factory new after this. The reason I did it was I was starting to feel the 1-2, 2-3 shifts, especially when cold. This trick completely eliminated this. Unreal! Thanks!
Thank you SO much for posting this! I have been trying for months to get my 2018 CX-5 to shift back to normal. This seems to have solved the issue 100%.
It worked like a charm the first time. As some people said, press and hold down the brake pedal as hard as you can. Everything else is really easy. Thanks
Just tried it on my 2016 CX-9 & it now feels amazing!!! Thank you very much!!! I was really disappointed & nervous over the thought of potentially having to replace the transmission, I’ve had rough shifting issues for the last 1.5 years & now the transmission shifts so smooth!! Thank you
Hi ! I'm a french new owner of a 2020 AT Mazda 3 (2L sky-X 180 no-turbo) ; just went through the exact whole process and it worked at first time, TY for your crystal clear explanations. No time now to test it on the road but I'll update my comment ASAP for feedback.
This helped my CX30, got rid of the delayed downshifting and lurching when creeping up a steep hill. It also got rid of a nasty habit of picking the wrong gear when climbing a hill at like 25mph. It loved to select too high of a gear and lug the engine at 1k. I’ve found these transmissions like to be treated like a DCT or F1 single clutch transmission since they lock the TC clutch as soon as possible 🙃. It likes more authoritative and predictable throttle inputs and braking.
This is the most wildly accurate description of the exact same problem I've had with my 22 CX-30 Turbo. Bravo. I'm trying this the next time I remember.
Described the exact behavior with my 2015 Mazda 6.. always in too high of a gear and makes it lurch when in stop and go traffic when it tries to downshift last second when i begin moving. Gonna try this out to see if it helps
This is so accurate. Just picked up a turbo I'm trying to drive like a Grandma to save gas and the car literally hates me. Like bruh stop trying to blast off to Food Lion pls
Thanks for the video🙌🏼 It worked on 2014 Mazda6 Touring. Worked on the fourth attempt. Just hold the break down pretty hard ✅ After holding at M+ for 5 sec move back to M- and hold it until cluster turns to M then just move to normal M mode(not - not +) until it shuffles to M1✅✅
Ok, I admit I was skeptical. How wrong was I! I did this, and my CX-30 went from jumping and jerking to find gears, now it’s like a smoother yet not reved up sport mode all the time on normal mode! Thank you sooooo much!!!
Every single time I rev or drive a little toooo sporty my transmission goes nuts between 2nd and 3rd. Lot of hiccups. This fixed the issue (for the 4th time in seven months). Cx5 2018.
Thank you. This worked for my 21 CX5 GT non turbo. I got it on the 2nd try. I was suffering from quick upshifts and sluggish downshifts. I hope you don’t mind I posted a link your video on the Reddit CX5 page. I gave you full credit. Thanks again.
Hi bro.. My mazda3 2023 skyactiv G hv chronic jerk went slow accelerate.. When speeding also like gear not change to top speed.. This happen after change engine oil .. Its possible to do this way? @@21mazda3turbo3
Holy shit. This fixed my 2017 CX5. I has having really rough shifts into 3rd and 5th gear. I did multiple drain and fills and even dropped the pan to replace the filter. Nothing was working and I assumed one of the solenoids was sticking. This made it drive like new again.
Thank you so much! Mazda dealership had no clue about this. Thought my 2nd hand 2017 Mazda 6 GT was a lemon with very clunky gear shifts around 40km. Gear chances are buttery smooth now ❤
Came here from the CX-5 subreddit suggesting this for solving some low-speed 'lurching.' Got it to work first try and in my initial drives afterward the problems seem to be fixed! Shifting smoothly and not hanging on to gears!!
I just did the same thing. I've had this video saved from the CX-5 subreddit for a few days and just got a chance to drive the car long enough to get the oil to the right temperature for the test
This worked great on my 2019 Mazda CX-5. At first it didn’t. Then I realized I didn’t idle it for a full minute. After doing that it went perfectly. Noticed a difference right away. Thanks for posting.
I want to tank you for real , I was stressed because of this could fix it until now I was feeling the trird and fifth shift change while driving , I changed the oil and filter didn't solve the issue , been trying to fix this for months hahaha 😂😂😂😂 well al least I have new oil an filter hahaha this fix the nock feel on shifting on my Mazda 3 2017 really thank you love you dude 😅 jajajaja greetings from puerto Vallarta
IT WORKED!! This is has been killing me because i thought it was an ignition coil, spark plug, or motor mount issue or transmission going out. THANK YOU!!
🎉 thank you so much! I have a 2016 Mazda CX-9 that was “bumping” when down shifting. After following these steps, it started to shift smoothly. Thank you
@@gilbertlugo I had to do the fix again a couple weeks ago. So, let’s say that it holds fine for more than 6 months. What I’m trying to understand now is if my driving style may causing the issue.
Adding another THANK YOU! Worked first time perfectly on my 2020 Mazda 6 Touring (75K miles). It had some jerking and weird shifting issues, but nothing that was "this is broken". This was a great fix that helped the reliability and longevity of my transmission. Thank you!
I just did this on my new to me 2019 CX-5 GT (36,500 miles) because I had been experiencing jerky behavior at low speeds with SPORT mode off. I know there is a TSB for that issue, but I wanted to try this reset process first since it's quick. I followed the steps in the video and it worked on the first try. A test drive just afterwards felt like a totally different vehicle. No more jerky behavior and much smoother shifting and acceleration. I'm assuming that as I drive it for the next 20-30 miles it will get even better to some degree. @21Mazda3Turbo is my hero. Thanks sir.
Can you help? At about three minutes into the video he says go to up shift and hold for 5 seconds, then after that he says move to up shift. He’s already in up shift. Does he mean down shift or just back to manual mode neither down shift or up shift
*JUST DID THIS ON MY 2024 MAZDA CX-30 TURBO PREMIUM PLUS. WORKED ON MY FIRST TRY* 💪🏽 🔥🔥 Purchased it about a month ago with a little over 4K miles on it - seeing as it was used as one of Mazda in-house loaners prior to selling it made sense I would want to reset the driving analytics to my own personal driving habits. Thanks for the pro tip!
Man I can’t thank you enough for sharing this video. I have a Mazda 3 touring 2017 and right after getting only the transmission oil changed the car was jerking. Followed the steps and wala the problem is fixed. Thank you so much. The car is running at 216k 😂
Is that in miles or KM? You should drop the pan to have the bottom of it cleaned out and the strainer (Filter) replaced. fluid change likely caused some fine metal shavings to get stuck somewhere. Problem could come back .
@@pikachupowers it’s KM, and since the problem is fixed I’m hesitant in getting it cleaned all the way. But I guess you’re right, I should get it cleaned all the way. The car is driving like charms.
My mom’s truck was stolen and spent 2 1/2 months in the shop with three different specialist, including Mazda to try to figure this out with the rough shifting. I did your sequence and it’s perfect now. Thank you so much! Legend.
Had a crazy jerking issue on my 2020 premium sedan and multiple mazda techs at dealerships had no idea how to fix it. Ended up trading it in for a 24 turbo hatch and i can feel the same jerkiness starting on this one at around 15k miles so i am here now, glad i found this, will try it out tonight
This worked perfectly on my 2017 Mazda 6. I changed my fluid and filter at 100k and it started shifting hard. After following this video it shifts smooth as silk. Thanks
I was skeptical about this and frankly wasn't even sure I could do this properly timed. The car reacted exactly the way it did on the video which I had playing as I was doing it, and the first 30 minutes of driving there after I have to say was smoother. It remains to be seen over time whether that remains true, but there was at least some improvement to a more smooth feel. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for this! I do not drive my 2016.5 CX-5 hard at all since getting it new over 8 years ago. It has 128,000 miles on it, and I regret the one maintenance item of never changing the "lifetime" fluid. I rarely go over 2 RPM from stop and go. After doing this, it'll shift at around 1.75 RPM taking off from 1st to 2nd to 3rd. Before it would be at or a tad over 2 RPM. I just drove it a couple miles as of this comment, but I can already see and feel a postive difference. Thank you!
This worked like a charm. I tried so many solutions to fix this issue and almost gave in to Mazda "declaring" my transmission faulty. This solution worked like a breeze, and my car is driving like new again. This was a godsend! Thank you so much.
Dealer will try to sell you a kidney. You can blame all the bad shifting on the EPA. They're forcing car companies to hit MPG marks so they program the transmission to hunt for the highest gear possible. It confuses the car when you hard accelerate because it just wants to save fuel.
Thank you so much for this!!! Worked 1st attempt. I bought a 2021.5 cx5 turbo signature 6 weeks ago and was getting about 19 city mpg with an idling RPM at 1k. I just reset my TCM following your instructions and I'm up to 23mpg city, idle rpm down to 500 and it definitely accelerates faster and shifts smoother. Nothing was really wrong with the transmission, but I guess it had a lot of "bad learned behaviors" like you mentioned.
Thanks! My 2021 Mazda 6 only has 30k KM (bought it used recently). No complaints but tried this nonetheless- made a noticeable difference! Up- & downshifts are smoother than before. I let it idle for 1 minute, applied the hand brake, pushed hard on the brake pedal and performed the steps while watching the video. Worked on first try!
Worked perfectly on my 2017 Mazda 3 Sport. I had rough shifting from 2nd - 3rd and from 4th - 5th gear. I followed all of the steps in the video and as soon as I saw the rpm’s go above 1000 I knew it was going to work. Thank you so much for the video and if anyone is having similar issues, try this and see if it fixes your problem.
Yes yes yes THANKS. 2017 MAZDA 6 62.000 MILES ORIGINAL OWNER. 3RD AND 5TH GEAR FELT JERKY AFTER THE RESET DRIVES LIKE SILKY SMOOTH AGAIN. SAVED ME A HUGE HEADACHE 😅 THANKS AGAIN
Can confirm it worked on my 2018 Mazda 6 GTR (2.5 Turbo). I didn't have any noticeable issues, just some concerns about jerking when flooring the pedal and coming to a complete stop. But I decided to experiment. Only worked when mashed the pedal like it was the last time. Will be babysitting the car for ~100 miles. I will post an update asap
Did it help? Just did mine today at 10k (me and the transmission are not on the same page) but haven't driven it yet. I had a stiffer rmm that cleaned up all the clunky shifts 2-6 but 1-2 was never great with either.
@@DavidTMSN check the fluid level if 1-2 is a little weird have seen a few where the fluid isnt completely full but not enough to cause major issues just weird shifts. Check while running and atf @ 122f and make sure it’s on level ground and near the top mark on the dipstick
You have saved me so much money! I was about to have to go have it checked out when I decided to check if anyone else was having issues. Worked the first try and it's like a brand new CX5! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
This process worked on my mazda 3 2018. Thanks! Just watch watch he does and copy it. The last step after hold manual + for 5 seconds you are supposed to then hold manual - for 5 seconds until the m1 turns into an M on the cluster. He mispoke in the video but did the correct action.
Did it today 8/5/24 (2021 CX-30 @ 23K miles) Got it on first try. My car definitely made sounds and felt it resetting. Took a good amount of time to complete so DO NOT WORRY OR LET OFF OF THE BRAKE!!!!! Now I’m hoping to teach it to go like a bat out of hell……to the best of its capabilities that is! 👍🏻👍🏻 One week later……. Very happy!!!!! Far more responsive around town and not needing to engage sport mode as I was prior unless I just want to have a little more fun.
Worked first time on my 2019 cx5! I got my car used so, until now, I couldn't have known what the factory setting would feel like. Not sure if it's in my head but seems smoother in at slow speeds and a little quicker to shift under normal acceleration. It still bogs down a little if I'm cruising in 3rd gear and then try to accelerate gently (not enough to downshift), but it feels better in that department as well. Finally, it doesn't seem to be doing the classic AWD hesitation/jerk while coming to a stop! Much thanks for the Mazda knowledge!
Thank you! Just tried this and got it on the second try. Feels like a new car now. I think towing my trailer last winter confused the transmission, and ever since then it’s been jumpy and erratic. I’ll reply again if anything changes, but so far so good! 2016 CX5 GT.
Also, my car has always vibrates a bit when I’m stopped at a light, and only mashing down the break gets it to stop. This always confused me, but it is gone now! Feels like when I first bought the car again. I’m not sure if this is just due to me mashing down the brake when doing this procedure, but my breaks feel improved as well. This car lives outside all year in Alaska, so I assume that some of its weird behaviors are due to the climate which is very hard on cars.
You have got to be kidding me!! I've had my Car since August last Year and have called on this very thing!! I did it tonight and it is totally different now,so much better, tysm!!! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for this! My 2017 Cx-5 was having hard shifts between 2-3 and 3-4. This solved the problem I’ve been dealing with for over a year. And it took all of 5 minutes and not a drop of grease on my hands or sweat on my forehead :).
Was having rough shifting while accelerating and braking for a good month or two and was worried that my transmission was shot or something else was wrong so i changed spark plugs, was gonna change coils, but decided id give this a shot after searching a million forums. Worked perfect. Was super surprised that this actually worked. If your having the same problem definitely give it a try and see if it fixes the same problems i had with my car
This completely fixed my problem on the first try. I have a 2017 CX-2 that just hit 50k miles. It was absolutely slamming in and out of 3rd gear and it's been getting worse over the past 4000 miles or so. I brought it to a local "Expert" and he said he checked all fluid pressures and the solenoids and they are fine. He verified the problem that it was shifting horribly. He said he reset the software in case that was the problem but nothing worked so he recommended a Valve Body replacement for $2458.40 plus tax. He charged me $153.19 for the diagnostic but was willing to knock that off the price if I got the recommended service. I was sick to my stomach. Finally I did enough research to find this absolute GEM of a video. Clearly the local guy did not do anything with the software that he claimed but I have no problem paying for the diagnostic/time but wow, really? Anyway, thank you a million times over sir! I just hope there is no damage done during the time it was banging in and out of 3rd gear. It felt like brand new on the test drive so I'm hoping for the best. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I have to reply to my own post as I get more angry about the local guy recommending a new valve body for $2500. I'll bet he was going to do me a favor and dispose of the "broken" transmission for free! How much could he make on that transmission in great shape? Probably another $2500. He could have made $5000 total. I shouldn't assume the worst. Hopefully he is completely innocent and just REALLY bad at his job.
@@chrisroberto6420 He's probably innocent. This may be one of those things that only a Mazda tech would know. I got a 2019 CX5 yesterday and noticed some jerkiness and was thinking I bought somebody else's problems. Thankfully I found this fix on Reddit as it is a night and day difference now.
Thanks so much! I had been looking for information on hard shifts on my Mazda CX5 and was unable to find anything untill this. The car was shifting hard in and out of 3rd, sometimes 4th and 5th. I had an appointment to ask the dealer to reflash the TCU and ECU but they said first they would have to spend an hour diagnosing it and I was looking at around $300 bill. Then I found this video, wrote the steps out on paper and it is totally fixed! I messed up at the very end when he says to hold it in manual cause I saw the RPM increase and lost my mind for a second, but it still worked, first time!
lol it accually fixed it, i have a 2016 bn mazda 3 sp25 astina automatic transmission, the car was shifting very hard in and out of the 3rd gear (very specific to 3rd gear). it was shift even harder when it was cold, when warmed up it was slightly better but still shifted very hard sometimes it was apple to shift in and out third gear smoothly when i was using the paddle shifters, i didn't notice any transmission slipping even tried putting lucas trans stop slip didn't do anything other than that i also didn't have problem with car not being able to shift into certain gears none of that, the only thing i might have noticed was delayed shifting time to time. now every thing is fixed thanks a lot mate!
Had a 2023 cx-5 premium, ony had 11k miles. started feeling hesitation of shifting of some sort. tried this, twice i was able to get it right. Oh boy, shifting is back to its glory. sooo smooth again..
Brooooooo this just fixed my car and I’m so stoked you probably just saved me soooo much money THIS WORKED and you walked me straight through ❤ thanks brother thank you thank you thank you 😊
It worked perfectly fine on a Mazda 3 from 2020 with 62k kms. The jerking from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st gears are gone. Also upshifting like silk. Incredible fix without going to dealer.
Thank you, seems to have worked on my 2023 CX-5 turbo. The only difference was I didn't get a beep and flashing notice after switching the car off in N. The center screen simply had a white message saying to shift to park. I continued the process, and the revs increased and decreased after the car was started and M+, M- and then M.
Bro, you are heaven-sent. I did this procedure after struggling with jerking during deceleration for some time and my problems are gone. My mech was telling me to buy a new gearbox. Can't thank you enough.

@@Frankaziza1it's confusing me as well so I've been trying to do it a few different ways. I do know people say to smash the break peddle down.
@@drakarrx only the last move. He is in upshift and then he says to move to upshift and hold, but he’s already an upshift.
for everyone who is trying this and hasn’t been able to get it to work I tried probably 10 or 15 times until I read somebody’s post that said you really have to mash the brake pedal, so I tried It really mashing the brake pedal down hard and the first time I tried after doing that it worked. Now that I think about it while the transmission is relearning and you can feel it cycling through the clutches they probably don’t want you to move or lurch forward so trust me when I say you got a press hard I mean hard like the last little bit the pedal travels, I did the relearn on mine, because after breaking in my vehicle, I think I was a little overly cautious, and develop some bad behaviors that it learns like accelerating to speed, and then completely leading off the gas pedal instead of gently backing off
do that otherwise won't work. tried the 3rd time with slammed brake and it worked
This 100% worked thank you!

Thank you for sharing, I thought of replacing the transmission. I performed the relearn procedure and it works like a charm.
Many Many thanks. I found this off of a Reddit post and I can’t believe how well this worked!!!!
I AM SHOCKED how smooth this worked!!! Thank you so much - the jerk showed up at the 85k mark between the 2nd and 3rd shift now it's GONE - Thank you
As others have stated, thank you!
Thank you for this! This was my problem! You saved me!
Thanks was stuck here
Bro, you are awesome!
Thank you! 🙌🙏
holy shit. this is fixed a years worth of transmission hard shifting and back and forth with the dealer and mechanics! Thank you!
THANK YOU!!
Hey bro excuse me can you show me how to do it, i have same mazda but in 3:10m. Shen press the up, I cant see Only M in manual up shift ;(
@Eng.Valkov90 Literally everything he does, do it verbatim.
Oh yes! I just did this procedure hoping it’ll resolve the same for me. Now my fingers are definitely crossed!
Dude! I have 2017 Mazda3 Sport with about 168k mi. Started getting rough shift into 3rd, both accel and decel, to the point of a hard thunk. Been getting worse over last 15k or so. Did this trick (took 2 attempts) and it is back to smooth as warm butter! Thanks!
Wow, this worked great. My car was bucking like a wild horse going from 30-40. It feels brand new now. Thank you!!!
Mine would do the same.. would stay right around the edge for way too long and then suddenly jump
Glad it helped!
This is the most wildly accurate description of the exact same problem I've had with my 22 CX-30 Turbo. Bravo. I'm trying this the next time I remember.
Just got my Mazda 3 and coming from a DSG in my previous car I was wondering about it’s behaviour. Now I understand.
Like bruh stop trying to blast off to Food Lion pls
amazing, it really works. Every mazda owner should know this
Huge thanks! I was getting a hard shift from 2-3 and 4-5 gears in my 2016 CX-9, and this re-learn process cleared them right up!
I’ve had the exact same issue in my 2017 cx-9 over the past week, and now it’s smooth as can be again!
Cx5 2018.
@@alejandromenal9his video is confusing. His last two moves he says up shift twice. Makes no sense
Thank you. This worked for my 21 CX5 GT non turbo. I got it on the 2nd try. I was suffering from quick upshifts and sluggish downshifts. I hope you don’t mind I posted a link your video on the Reddit CX5 page. I gave you full credit. Thanks again.
I'm glad it worked for you. Feel free to post where ever you'd like.
Same here, I started to use our extended warranty at a third party shop until I took it to Mazda who said it needed to ‘relearn’.
Just wanted to say thank you for this! We had major jerky issues with our Mazda 3 and after this, it’s running perfectly.
Was expericing some jerkiness in shifting at lower speeds and this made the car soo smooth. Very helpful! A big thank you.
Youve just saved another mazda owner 🎉❤
Drove 45 minutes and it didn’t move RPMs…..
This worked great on my 2019 Mazda CX-5. At first it didn’t. Then I realized I didn’t idle it for a full minute. After doing that it went perfectly. Noticed a difference right away. Thanks for posting.
Glad it helped!
Just tried this with 2016 cx5 with jerking problem at 3rd gear and it’s now fixed. Thanks 😊
2017 Mazda Cx5 115k miles Worked for me and noticed a big difference!! Thanks a bunch! Sub!
THANK YOU!!
Tried this on my 2019 Mz6 signature n/a (85K km) today, worked on first try - thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much man, this resolved my issue of jerky shifting of the car and kind of improved the time for the car’s acceleration as well!
🎉 thank you so much! I have a 2016 Mazda CX-9 that was “bumping” when down shifting. After following these steps, it started to shift smoothly.
Thank you
Same started to happen on my 2017 cx9. I ran the procedure and the issue is resolved. Curious if the fix is holding over time on your cx9?
Thanks sir.
Wow, thank you. I recently bought a used 2021 CX-30 GT and was disappointed in gear changes. Now all my problems have been fixed . Thank you.
Can you help? At about three minutes into the video he says go to up shift and hold for 5 seconds, then after that he says move to up shift. He’s already in up shift. Does he mean down shift or just back to manual mode neither down shift or up shift
Omg this worked on my car too and fixed the problem after changing the transmission oil, thanks a lot man you made my day 👍
Just did this and it solved the lurchy 1 > 2 gear shift on my 19 Mazda 3. Thanks OP!
*JUST DID THIS ON MY 2024 MAZDA CX-30 TURBO PREMIUM PLUS. WORKED ON MY FIRST TRY*
💪🏽 🔥🔥
Purchased it about a month ago with a little over 4K miles on it - seeing as it was used as one of Mazda in-house loaners prior to selling it made sense I would want to reset the driving analytics to my own personal driving habits.
@@dahacker Highly recommend looking into getting that done soon.
Thanks
Worked like a charm, now the gearbox engages much softer but tight!
Just did it on my 2018 Mazda CX 5 ! Worked like a charm ! Thanks a bunch !
This solved my issues! Thank you!! No more lurching
Just bought a 2018 CX5. I was beginning to get very nervous about the purchase. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this!!!
Fixed the random hard shifts and lurching in my 2019 6 signature. Thank you
Glad it helped!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Dealer tried to tell us we needed a new transmission. Sgifts smooth as butter now.
Thank you soooooooo much , it fixed my 2018 mazda 6 as the gear was jerking , thanks again , God bless you
This just fixed my mazda 3 shifting problems, thank you so much.
Just did this to my 23’ CX50 and it seems to be a lot smoother! I was able to do it step by step as you explained it 👍🏻
Thank you so much . I try this on my 12 years old first edition of CX-5 2.0L NA engine. It works and ride is much better now.
Did it today 8/5/24 (2021 CX-30 @ 23K miles)
Got it on first try.
My car definitely made sounds and felt it resetting. Took a good amount of time to complete so DO NOT WORRY OR LET OFF OF THE BRAKE!!!!!
Now I’m hoping to teach it to go like a bat out of hell……to the best of its capabilities that is! 👍🏻👍🏻
One week later…….
Can you give me some advice, my mazda is cx-5 2019 and that doesnt work
Worked like a charm first time! Amazing… thanks for making this video and sharing your knowledge!
Watching video while admiring my new manual transmission 2023 Mazda 3 siting in my driveway.
Amazing, Bought a used 2020 mazda3. The lower gears were jerky going through parking garages. Did this and it's driving so smooth now. Thank you!
Did it stay smooth ? I bought a brand new mazda 3 and its so jerky when going slow
Thank you!!! It worked on my 2021 mazda gtr!
Jerkiness is gone!!
Thanks Mate! Worked well on my 2017.5 M6 Touring. At 105K miles, she purrs now!
Had a 2023 cx-5 premium, ony had 11k miles. started feeling hesitation of shifting of some sort. tried this, twice i was able to get it right. Oh boy, shifting is back to its glory. sooo smooth again..
Nice. Just did this and I have had the car since 53k miles. I’m at 237,000 miles currently so I’m excited to see how this works.
You saved me, thank you for this video, my 2015 Mazda 3 is running like new again!
I did it first try, and it’s made driving so much smoother. Mash the brake down hard and just follow the directions! CX 5 2018 GT Reserve
Fixed my jerky downshifts. '18 touring. Thanks!
Is this only for the 'manual mode'. For normal driving does this do anything?
Same.....but everything else was as in the video, seems better! 🤷
Same for me too. I think our newer models just say shift to park and 2020 and older beep
