Jake gets my strongest recommendation! He is extremely knowledgeable and does excellent work. Beyond that he has always responded to my car questions with sound, experience driven responses. I wouldn’t hesitate to have Jake work on future mod projects. Great mechanistic, great resource, great products! Couldn’t be happier!

Agree with the 2015 GTI's for the most part. Late in production 2015 GTI's seem to be less problematic though.

Some 2015 owners will be lucky, but regardless that model year lacks so many features & parts revisions you’d need to get it for free to justify it purposefully over a 2016 or newer.

I wish this video came out a year ago. Unfortunately I bought a 2015. But surprisingly I haven't had any issues. Currently stage 2 but I maintain it well knowing the risks.

Nothing to lose sleep over, these cars have definitely proven themselves over the years!

The good news is that 7-8 years later the stuff that was gonna break probably already broke. (I'm rocking a 2014-built, 2015 SE with 110k miles).

I’ve been interested in this chassis compared to the MK6 but the previous owner worries bother me. I might have to just get the fiancé a “boring” car.

Check out my reviews of the Jetta GLI & base model Jetta S. Both are significantly cheaper than GTI & still a lot more fun than the average commuter car.
In this market your best bet is buying new (some dealers are selling at MSRP).

I was just gonna use my car at CMP, but hit this one first and was like “that’ll do” haha.
Never heard of anyone local having a bad second hand experience, but the forums and FB page is absolutely full of guys posting shit where dealers and even CPO clearly was a pump & dump
