- Mega Turrican (Genesis) All Bosses (No Damage, Hard). It is a video game, developed by Factor 5 in 1993. This game of the Turrican series was initially designed for the Mega Drive/Genesis, and later followed by an Amiga port under the title of "Turrican 3".

Awesome special effects used in this game, just goes to show that the Mega Drive could do sprite scaling and rotation when programmers wanted to do it. It always seems to me that the European dev teams could always outshine their Japanese counterparts. Probably the best console version of this game, killer sound track as well, all round winner.

The "Emergency!" voice over sounds like the one in Alien Soldier.
This series had some interesting bosses. Some were just silly like the hand and the crane and then you had references to Alien, Robocop and Terminator

If I recall correctly, this is Turrican 3, but this console version ended up releasing before the Amiga one, and being the superior of the two. I like the visual style more than Super Turrican, because the more muted colors of the Genesis are better for the atmosphere.
Other way around. The Amiga version is the port, and that came out first even though the Mega Drive version was already done - it was basically stuck in publishing hell. A prototype from over a year before the game's release date got found and dumped, and it was probably a release candidate judging by the game's state at that point - all of the stages and bosses were there and there were barely any changes. Said changes were basically limited to bugfixes, script changes in the ending, 6 button controller support, removing a Konami credit and adding Data East credits, and making 1-2 a secret level instead of a normal stage.
@@DeskoDev Thanks for the explanation. So Konami was originally going to be the publisher? Given they were in their golden age, who knows the exposure it could have given to the game.
@@DavideGendo Yep! Plans fell through, though. Not sure why, though, especially considering how Konami had already shown interest in Factor 5 at that point and even had them handle Contra Spirits/3's GB port later on.
Damn these guys didnt give a shit about copyright. Theyve full on plagiarized Terminator, Alien and Xmen that i noticed. Probably others too.
This game actually creeped me out when I first played it, plenty of jump scares.

Surprising to see how better the Genesis version is, content and bosses wise, compared to the SNES version.
Thats where it ends for Mega as everything else kind of falls flat
Having played through this game like two or three times, I'm stuck with one question: what the heck are you supposed to do if you run out of Ball Mode energy during the first two phases of the final boss? (Skull Robot and The Machine's giant head)
Does normal give you all the levels as hard because I tried it on easy and it only let me play a few levels I want to play them all but maybe on normal?
Yep! Normal and Hard let you play the entire game.

Basically half of all Sci Fi games of the 16 bit generation was ripping off Alien. Look at Turrican 1, 2, Z-Out, all Alien Breed games, Space Gun, Contra etc etc etc... that was the NORM! ;)
Turrican 2 has 2 levels full of giant Alien heads and eggs with facehuggers straight from the movie.
The second boss looks like something from John Carpenter's The Thing.
Also Contra. Heck, the Alien Queen was shooting out Contra's tomato bullets, and the terminator-looking boss works pretty much llike the one that forces open some blast doors!

Great music and some of the environments are dope but...I felt no need to improve or play better towards the end. It’s so easy to steamroll through the last few bosses with the crash bomb as you’ll have tons of extra guys and they always spawn you right where you were like a shmup for whatever reason. It’s weird.
Incredible graphics effects. But the enemies are boring...not doing many things 🙄
