One thing of note you should both know is that 90% of the vocal cast for the show are either current or ex Broadway performers thats why Lucifer's voice went so hard in singing
If anything, most people are so distracted by the golden violin, they immediately forget about the way Alistor really trolled Lucifer a few seconds before (which is absolutely my favourite part. I literally can't scroll past any tiktoks of this song, because I absolutely have to rewatch the way he smiles when he says "you could almost call me... DAAAAD" cause it's just so freaking petty 😂)
To explain the reason Alastor is so immediately hostile towards Lucifer. This is the FIRST time we've seen Alastor interacting with someone MORE powerful than he is. Lucifer is the top dog of hell, he is the MOST powerful being we have seen across this and helluva boss, bar none. So naturally Alastor wants to play power games, and he does it by basically usurping his fatherly role. Lucifer probably spent that hour just mentally bracing himself to see Charlie. Like look at what he has to do just to answer her phone call. Yeah, he can teleport throughout all of Hell at will, but that doesn't mean he's instantly ready to go anywhere.
That was my analysis too. he knows lucifer beats him in power, so he is throwing off lucifer mentally. he just needs that one second of weakness to strike.
22:40 "Almost like he's a singer who also does voice acting." Spot on, that is pretty much every voice in this show, part of the reason they changed casting from the pilot to the full series (as great as the pilot actors did their characters) was that this was meant to be a musical. Vivzie primarily pulled on singers from broadway and stuff like Alex Brightman (The voice of Sir Pentious, Adam, and Fizz in Helluva. Also Beetlejuice in the Beetlejuice Musical. Also Jack Black in The School of Rock Musical.) The Voice Actor for Lucifer is Jeremy Jordan, who although not having a final role, actually was a big part in The Greatest Showman becoming a thing, as he stood in for Hugh Jackman for a while after he had surgery. He also played in Supergirls, he was Jack Kelley in Newsies, and Clyde in the 2011 rendition of Bonnie and Clyde. They wanted good voice actors, but they also needed professional singers for this project.
Fun fact: The reason Lucifer was using an Accordion in the Hell's Greatest Dad number, is a reference to whom Vivziepop wanted to originally voice Lucifer, Weird Al Yankovic. Mimzy is voiced by Sara Stiles, AKA Spinel from Steven Universe. Lucifer is voiced by Jeremy Jordan, who played Varian in Tangled The Series.
Can't believe we got the voices for both Varian and Spinel in the same episode! This is fantastic because they're both major comfort characters to me! And, as always, Alastor being a smug troll and hijacking other people's songs is ALWAYS funny! 🤣 *But I am terrified for Husk after that one scene, though...* 😥
Just in case we forgot that he was an overlord to Husk & Nifty like Val is to Angel? More cultured, and reasonable (as long as you dont cross him), but not nice.
23:45 Lucifer needs time to be fully preper to pull himself together and sorted out his nerves after thousands of years of depression and 7 years of being split with Lilith before he can see Charlie.
Except for Angel Dust. Blake Roman was an absolute nobody who went into the audition right after school and got the role. Apparently never VA'd before in his life.
Do these folks not understand that the vast majority of the Hazbin Hotel cast has Broadway credits? 😂 Why are they surprised by their voices sounding so good?
Them being like “his voice!” “who is this voice actor?!” Meanwhile I’m over here SCREAMING “JEREMY JORDAN!!! IT’S JEREMY JORDAN!!!“ he’s PHENOMENAL, I LOVE HIM
Well, let me put it this way: Like how Guilliman in 40k has Ultra-Depression for what he has to deal with now from the Imperium....Lucifer has Hella Depression because he used to be someone who brought life and joy to humans and also gave humans free will (the apple with Eve), but Heaven absolutely denied everything he had in mind and eventually forced him into the Hells. So now he's a defeated, depressed, broken person from everything.
To be fair, that first meeting was not For Charlie or the hotel, Lucifer just didn't want to go and sent Charlie instead, so she used the opportunity to talk about her hotel. The point of the first meeting was to discuss them moving up the next extermination, and the reason for that was Carmilla killing an exorcist.
All the voice-actors in the show are also Broadway performers, which is why they're such good singers. And I recently learned that apparently the plan was 22 episodes, but they were only given 8, so they had to compress a *lot* of stuff into that timespan.
Loser baby is my favourite song of season 1 but More Than Anything is such a beautiful song that I still choke up while singing along to it because I know it is the kind of love I will give to my own children when I have them
You don't just teleport to someone's home without giving them some time to get things in order first, it's just good manners. Plus he likely needed to freshen up himself.
It’s theorized (I don’t know if it’s confirmed) that Lucifer gave humans free will in the hazbin lore (supported by exposition dump in ep 1 and this one) so imagine what it’s like to literally see the consequences of your actions from literally when the earth was made, and to see literally no one has broken the mold in that time.
Exactly. From Lucifer's immortal POV, the human race is not getting better, because if they were, the amount of souls coming to Hell would be declining. After eons of humans misusing free will, Lucifer seems to have just given up thinking these Sinners can be anything other than degenerates.
Jeremy Jordan is the Lucifer VA. He is Varian from “Tangled: The Series”. He’s also been in many Broadway shows. Couple of things you may have missed: - Husk’s coffee cup says “Fuck Mondays”. - Picture of emo Charlie at Lucifer’s house. - The golden accordion is a nod to “Weird Al” Yankovic. Vivienne originally wanted him to be Lucifer in the series.
I was reading comments on that and it apparently went even further. There’s a formal “you” in German…but also a form that’s specifically for royalty. And Alastor made a point of NOT using the royal form.
@@hermannmakuta3311 Well it's a technicality issue. I don't know the comment they are referring to, so I can only assume, but I imagine we're talking about the difference between Siezen und Ihrzen, which is mostly just the more archaic form but probably most well-known for once being used for, among other socially high-ranking people, royalty. As in, "f*ckt Euch" instead of "f*cken Sie sich" - or rather, if I'm understanding rekka correctly, Alastor did probably use the latter while the former would assumedly be more acceptable for Lucifer's hierarchical standing.
@@howlingnerdwolf6971I'm not exactly fluent in German, but Alastor did say the latter one, which was pretty funny cuz I think that he used the 'informal' (we call it that here in German class) form when he spoke to him prior to that.
The big running theory with the community is the reason Lucifer seems so obsessed with ducks is he sees himself as The Ugly Duckling so its translated into basically everything and hence why in the song you see the duck seem to become more swanlike and angelic. Lucifer is such and incredible character in this show and definitely my favorite version I have met through any media this far.
7:35 regarding Alastor swearing, what makes it more surprising and catches you off guard, is how Lucifer (and one other guy shown later which I will not spoil) are the only ones he swears at, being people who are higher up than he is but doesn’t respect.
The scene during the last song where he sees the spears pointing at Charlie, eyes widen in horror, and he spins her out of the light and into the shadow to keep her safe. Perfection.
Why didn't Lucifer just teleport over? Because Charlie and her hotel might not have been prepared for his arrival. If he dropped in in a literal second, he could've seemed desperate (which his pride wouldn't allow), and possibly irritated his daughter in doing so (some people can be sensitive about unexpected arrival/drop-ins, and this also could've furthered their father-daughter distance in Lucifer's mind) ^So, he wanted to be courteous and make a good impression. Better to save the instant teleport-arrival for if there's an actual emergency or something :P
"More Than Anything" Lucifer and Charlie's Father/Daughter duet makes me cry every time I play it. Razzle and Dazzle are like Keyky they are toys Lucifer bring to life. Lucifer and Charlie where in Lucifer's Lulu World. In Pride ring In Helluva boss season 1 episode 2 Actavia was talking about it. Mammon has his own rip off Loo loo land. Charlie's Canon age is 200 years. #Theory Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death. @ LadySygerrik Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive. @Valentino simp If we learned anything from Helluva Boss, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo
Fun fact: it was momentous when Alastor cuss because since his demon persona is based off a radio host the 1920’s, he never swore until then. Reason being that swearing on the radio was forbidden back then
16:20 "Why does he think like that 😬" OMFG you are the only reaction channel i've EVER seen who has noticed that! i swear, every time i see this episode i'm like, "ooh, yikes," yet NO ONE ELSE has EVER mentioned how alarming that is to hear from a character already established to have depression! man! okay, clearly i need to binge this channel.
You guys keep harping on the whole 'I'll be there in the hour' thing but haven't considered it might not be an issue of travel time lol. It could be him preparing himself mentally to see her or even him being somewhat considerate and not wanting to show up without giving her any time to get ready.
Honestly, Lucifer, his introduction qnd his overall character was someone whom I felt I could relate to and I felt that the fears and emotions he has would be the same as mine in the future, and the song "More Than Anything" actually made me cry because of the meaning and message behind the lyrics. "Good luck kiddo" 😭
"It took him an hour to get there". I just assumed, in his anxiousness and depression, he took that time to clean himself up, and probably practice what to say to his daughter, much like he practiced what to say when answering Charlie's call.
This episode definitely helped cement that even though hes "helping" Alastor is definitely his own piece of shit to stick onto the turd of hell. A pretty big one at that too.
Lucifer brought that Genie energy, and as much as Mimzy might be seen as annoying, her va understanding the assignment perfectly. Fitting as she's the VA for Spinel from Steven universe.
Alastor’s “Fuck You” to Lucifer is my favorite moment in the entire season. It’s just so out of nowhere and so hilarious. Like any verbal clash where all else fails, just say “Fuck You”.
It's kinda sad how much the duck obsession intensified after Charlie was taken away from him. He saw how happy the duck made her and locks himself in that workshop clinging to those memories .The family pictures on the wall, the mountains of projects he just keeps restarting, THE WEDDING RING HE STILL WEARS, mans is NOT okay.

14:16 As per comments of the creator, the power rankings in Hell are: 1) Lucifer 2) Lilith and Charlie (Give Lilith the edge over her daughter since Charlie isn't exactly a fighter) 3) The Sins (Like Asmodeus, Mammon and Beelzebub from Helluva) 4) The Goetia (like Stolas. There's quite a few of them, they have their own internal ranking of status and power) 5) The Overlords, of whom Alastor is stated to be the most powerful 6) The Mortal Sinners condemned to Hell 7) The naturalborn of Hell, of whom Imps and Hellhounds rank the lowest. I know I'm late, but I haven't seen anyone make the comment, so might as well :D

I never understood why people question Lucifer’s original decision to not let Charlie talk to Heaven. He was one of the brightest and oldest angels. If anyone knows if this is a good idea it’s him.
Jeremy Jordan (Luficer) is a Broadway singer. He's the reason "The Greatest Showman" was greenlit because he had to sing all the songs after Jackman had a nose surgery, and more recently, he's also the English voice of Light Yagami in the demo album for the Death Note Musical.
@5Geass Yeah. The japanese musical can be seen in its entirety on TH-cam, but the English album can be listened to on TH-cam and Spotify (under "podcast").
The talk about Lucifer's beautiful voice can be explained by the fact that Jeremy Jordan has indeed been a massive Broadway actor for a while! He's so talented, especially in Newsies, as she mentioned. He's been in so many things and is a fan favorite amongst theater enthusiasts. :)
It took him an hour because he needed to mentally prepare himself to see his daughter. Remember she says he only calls when he's bored or needs something, it doesn't sound like he's actually seen her in person for a long time. And she's never asked him for anything. Personally, I think he teleported immediately and just stood in front of the door psyching himself out, but that way he guarantee he would not be late
21:37 the creator said that charlie ages 1 year every 10 years (time works differently in hell so not sure with years on earth or years on hell). Charlie is 180 years old and is suppose to have the features of an 18 year old. However this was said years ago, so changes might've been made on that. Not sure how long she would've had to stay a little girl.
I think that alaster acted like a second dad to Charlie because he wanted to piss Lucifer off. not because he actually want to be 2nd dad to charlie. Remember alaster love chaos and wanted to make chaos
22:57 I mean I’d need an hour to mentally get myself together and spend time with a family member. Imagine that but you also don’t have a good connection with them

"TAKE THAT DEPRESSION!!" My favorite line ever!!! Alastor is indeed strong, he is an enigma as Zestial said in ep 3, we don't know much on him, just little hints of lore so far. The reveal that he is also on a leash was huge for the fandom. People went crazy with theories when this aired! Lucifer has won me as a favorite, though Alastor is next. His voice and "More than Anything" is my favorite song ever!!! I cry every time, I think all who have daddy issues did. Lucifer has shown so many signs of deep depression I can so see like others have said he needed to the hour to prepare himself for meeting Charlie.
Wow.... Thank God she coulget Al. I love his songs, but that would of been a huge step down from what we got.
Can't believe we got the voices for both Varian and Spinel in the same episode! This is fantastic because they're both major comfort characters to me! And, as always, Alastor being a smug troll and hijacking other people's songs is ALWAYS funny! 🤣
*But I am terrified for Husk after that one scene, though...* 😥
Also Light Yagami in the English concept album for the Death Note musical!
Just in case we forgot that he was an overlord to Husk & Nifty like Val is to Angel? More cultured, and reasonable (as long as you dont cross him), but not nice.
Wait, Mimzy is Spinel?!
@@derykjames620Yup. Same voice actress.
23:45 Lucifer needs time to be fully preper to pull himself together and sorted out his nerves after thousands of years of depression and 7 years of being split with Lilith before he can see Charlie.
Lucifer is voiced by Jeremy Jordan, aside from his Broadway work he was the voice of Varian in Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure.
Lucifer is voiced by actor and singer Jeremy Jordan, best known from Broadway and playing Winn in the TV series DC's Supergirl.
“It’s almost like he was a singer who also does voice acting.”
Brother they pulled all the main actors from broadway for this
Except for Angel Dust. Blake Roman was an absolute nobody who went into the audition right after school and got the role. Apparently never VA'd before in his life.
@@GlassedGamer oooh, didn't know that. That's cool about Blake
I imagine Lucifer gave them an hour to get ready before he showed up rather than being there instantly through opening a portal or teleporting.
Or he stood outside the hotel for that entire hour, just out of sight lol
20:38 "I feel like that voice could help my back pain" 😂 omfg that's a line I needed
So now he's a defeated, depressed, broken person from everything.
if you look close during lucifer squeezing charlie you can see alastor's eye twitching
Fun fact Lucifer's outfit is an apple core
To be fair, that first meeting was not For Charlie or the hotel, Lucifer just didn't want to go and sent Charlie instead, so she used the opportunity to talk about her hotel. The point of the first meeting was to discuss them moving up the next extermination, and the reason for that was Carmilla killing an exorcist.
All the voice-actors in the show are also Broadway performers, which is why they're such good singers.
And I recently learned that apparently the plan was 22 episodes, but they were only given 8, so they had to compress a *lot* of stuff into that timespan.
Remember, almost all of the voice actors are Broadway actors, so musicals.
Is it just me or is nostalgia kicking in every time they sing in Hazbin Hotel. It just reminds me of love songs from the 2000s and early 2010s
Loser baby is my favourite song of season 1 but More Than Anything is such a beautiful song that I still choke up while singing along to it because I know it is the kind of love I will give to my own children when I have them
“That duck so many eyes. Eyes for days.”
“Eyes for days?”
“Eyes for days.”
Also: I’m sorry about your kitty. 🥺
5:17 I finally noticed Pentious in the background and I haven't stopped laughing oh my god
I don't know what you're going through, but my heart goes out to you. Positive thoughts from me to all of you. Depression can suck my ass.
Couple of things you may have missed:
- Husk’s coffee cup says “Fuck Mondays”.
- Picture of emo Charlie at Lucifer’s house.
- The golden accordion is a nod to “Weird Al” Yankovic. Vivienne originally wanted him to be Lucifer in the series.
7:33 - Funfact
In the german Dub
Alastor also says
"F*** you"
But the "you" is formally pronounced
I was reading comments on that and it apparently went even further. There’s a formal “you” in German…but also a form that’s specifically for royalty.
And Alastor made a point of NOT using the royal form.
@rekkariley652 - there is no royal form of "you."
@@hermannmakuta3311 Just repeating what another German speaker said on that video. They’re the ones you need to talk to about that.
I laughed at your simultaneous surprised/impressed faces when Lucifer showed his duck haha
Welcome to the glory that is Jeremy Jordan's voice. Quite possibly the best singer in Broadway and animation right now.
Perfection.
4:48 as they said in the pilot, its because hotels are for people passing through temporarily
With that many ducks I bet at least one of them does in fact go moo
Why didn't Lucifer just teleport over?
Because Charlie and her hotel might not have been prepared for his arrival. If he dropped in in a literal second, he could've seemed desperate (which his pride wouldn't allow), and possibly irritated his daughter in doing so (some people can be sensitive about unexpected arrival/drop-ins, and this also could've furthered their father-daughter distance in Lucifer's mind)
^So, he wanted to be courteous and make a good impression. Better to save the instant teleport-arrival for if there's an actual emergency or something :P
My personal favorite theory is that he did teleport right over and was just outside the door for 1h
21:34 - According to Google
Charlie is over 200 Years old
And Luci has PTSD and Autism.
Thanks for taking the time to record this despite having a bad day. We appreciate it. hope things get better for you.
I'm really sorry for your loss, I didn't know much about Simba, but I'm sure he was a great cat who lived a long, happy life ❤
Did you see how long it took the man to answer the phone? He needed an hour to talk himself up lol
"More Than Anything"
Lucifer and Charlie's Father/Daughter duet makes me cry every time I play it.
Razzle and Dazzle are like Keyky they are toys Lucifer bring to life.
Lucifer and Charlie where in Lucifer's Lulu World. In Pride ring
In Helluva boss season 1 episode 2 Actavia was talking about it.
Mammon has his own rip off Loo loo land.
Charlie's Canon age is 200 years.
#Theory
Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death.
@ LadySygerrik
Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive.
@Valentino simp
If we learned anything from Helluva Boss, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo
Oh i couldn’t wait for him to meet Lucifer it’s literally the most perfect character for him
Fun fact: it was momentous when Alastor cuss because since his demon persona is based off a radio host the 1920’s, he never swore until then.
Have fun!! Everything should be in playlists
“My golly! You like girl?! So do I! We have so much in common!”
NGL I think that’s pretty cool reaction to finding out your child swings both ways
I love more than anything song 😊 21:04
"It took him an hour to get there".
I just assumed, in his anxiousness and depression, he took that time to clean himself up, and probably practice what to say to his daughter, much like he practiced what to say when answering Charlie's call.
This episode definitely helped cement that even though hes "helping" Alastor is definitely his own piece of shit to stick onto the turd of hell. A pretty big one at that too.
Been loving these. Your friend is such a wonderful guest I love her energy and she is beautiful
4:33 biblically accurate duck.
Lucifers voice is like velvet on a cool spring day whilst having a picnic
Lucifer brought that Genie energy, and as much as Mimzy might be seen as annoying, her va understanding the assignment perfectly. Fitting as she's the VA for Spinel from Steven universe.
Alastor doesn't actually care about Charlie he is just taking the piss at lucifer
Alastor’s “Fuck You” to Lucifer is my favorite moment in the entire season. It’s just so out of nowhere and so hilarious. Like any verbal clash where all else fails, just say “Fuck You”.
I know other people said depression for him taking an hour, but it's also just the nice thing to do. Give her time to get ready
Lucifer's depression explains their relationship so much. Especially if Charlie doesn't know he has it, creating a disconnect and issues between them
I'm very sorry you lost your cat. May Simba rest in peace, and very sorry for your loss. It never is going to be easy. I'm scared for the day that I have to say goodbye to my own cat. I don't want to but I know at one point I will. So take care and I'm glad you like the episode. It is one of my more favorite episodes. However I think episode 4 still has to be my favorite. I know I love deep seated character development and hard lessons. And I especially love seeing people come through on the other side better than they were before. You're going to see a lot better side of Angel dust from this point on because of what happened in episode 4.
14:16 As per comments of the creator, the power rankings in Hell are:
1) Lucifer
2) Lilith and Charlie (Give Lilith the edge over her daughter since Charlie isn't exactly a fighter)
3) The Sins (Like Asmodeus, Mammon and Beelzebub from Helluva)
4) The Goetia (like Stolas. There's quite a few of them, they have their own internal ranking of status and power)
5) The Overlords, of whom Alastor is stated to be the most powerful
6) The Mortal Sinners condemned to Hell
7) The naturalborn of Hell, of whom Imps and Hellhounds rank the lowest.
I know I'm late, but I haven't seen anyone make the comment, so might as well :D
3:30 been waiting week's to see Duck react to this xD
Makes me feel like Lucifer every time I go back towhittling now and then... almost done making that wooden duck.
The voice actor for Lucifer is Jeremy Jorden and he is on broadway. Voice of an angle
Fun Fact: Alastor is a Wendigo which explains his deer-like appearance.
Another Fun Fact: Alastor has Daddy Issues too so that explains a bit of his beef with Lucifer.
20:16-23:23, one of the sweetest songs I have ever Heard! Charlie and Lucifer have an amazing father/daughter relationship! IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!😍😍😍😍🥲🥲
as a divorced dad i relate to Lucy feeling like you need to keep your distance to protect them from yourself because you feel like you ruin everything you touch
Jeremy Jordan (voice of Lucifer) is a popular Broadway actor
It didn't take him am hour to get there..he gave them an hour to get ready to meet THE GUY 🎉
22:45 the voice actor is Jeremy Michael Jordan he acted on Supergirl and he has such a voice😂😂
Introducing your favourite character.
I knew you were gona love him the moment you seen him.
Wait. There's a Death Note musical???
Ohhhh the twists that are coming. Finding out who people are and where some one has been …
Damn dude... Dedication .. hope you have a better day tomorrow dude!
Vaggie said no weapons, but what about fortifications?!
22:57 I mean I’d need an hour to mentally get myself together and spend time with a family member. Imagine that but you also don’t have a good connection with them
Because that is an accurate representation of a duck
Hell's Greatest Dad is my second favorite. I'm so happy you like Respectless
You know with how they had depicted the relationship with Charlie and her family, I explained Lucifer to be more of the emotionally abusive type, so it’s fun to seem him as an adorable idiot just trying his best at being a dad and failing.
It's clear he wants a big relationship with her and is very broken and jaded. As someone who suffers deep depression I need to often psych myself up to do anything, even something I want to do badly. Also must say, I completely forgot your channel involves ducks because as soon as you realized Lucifer is a Duck King I died lmao. He makes ducks as his fixation. He probably does have a rubber duck that goes moo!
Few things
The Hour was more then likley not to seem desperate
Charlie has been confirmed to have wings like her dad just hasn't learnt how to manifest them yet
While you talked over it and it's easy to miss it's heavily suggested that Lucifer had his own hotel in the past but for one reason or another it failed
