Great performance Tony! Necrophagist/Hannes Grossmann tracks are no joke and incredibly rich in little details, accents, dynamics people generally overlook...it's not just speed. You respected the original really well \m/
Thanks man. Yeah, it's all about muscle memory. You have to repeat it until you don't really have to think about it that much anymore. If you have to think about where your hands have to go to at the last fraction of a second it is physically very tiring to play. Your hand should already be on the way to where the next hit will be right after the previous hit.
I must have played it 10 times per day in the three weeks before recording it. I like to record it all in one take for my personal pride 🙂. Here is the take from one angle if you want to see it. th-cam.com/video/0_LR-IfAQSU/w-d-xo.html
Fucking sick dude! was wondering if you can expand on your foot technic im super stuck on heel toe doubles and i want to go singles but its super hard for me on high speeds. Again amazing dude!
Thanks Man! Upwards from about 200 bpm I am using my upper leg muscles to press down a bit on my pedal and the footplate motion I get from contracting my calve muscles. At lower speeds I am not pressing down with my upper leg. Most of it just came naturally by practicing over the years. I never thought too much about how I should move. I have been doing the same simple exercise for a long now. 5 min at a lower bpm (more for warm up) 10 min continuous run 10 times 30 sec run with 30 sec rest in between. 10 times 30 sec with left foot and 30 sec right foot Every exercise at the maximum bpm that you can to make it through the exercise. But it takes time and still after lots of years I am regularly changing pedal settings, seat height.
Salut, jolie cover, bien filmée et bonne prise de son. Félicitation. Quelle pédale utilisez-vous? Hi, good job, good recording, what bass pedal do you use?
Thanks! I am using a Trick Pro-1-V Bigfoot Pedal. Currently I am using the default plate but I also have the low mass ones and I am not sure yet what works best for me.
This is the song I love most from Epitpath. Great riffs and melodies and drums. Necrophagist is not like any other tech deads. Its not mindless riffing and shedding. They riffs are hella melodic and great-. Sadly we dont have them anymore with next albums. I heard somewhere that Muhammed its working as a teacher on some University .. Anyway GREAT WORK DUDE ! You make it look so easy. IF you want Check out my last track "Footsteps behind A door" for drummers it has tech death construct and feel to it.
Thanks dude! Yes, Necrophagist was and still is in a league of its own. For 10 years there were rumours about a new album that was already recorded and was on some hard drive somewhere. I lost hope for new material a long time ago. Muhammed kind of disappeared from the metal scene. I guess he just had enough of it which I understand completely. A touring life is not for everyone. But still I can't imagine that you wrote an album like that and dedicated lots of time to build up your guitar skills, that you don't wan't to write music anymore. Who knows. Maybe something for the 20th anniversary of Epitaph. Great track you have made there. Love the solo's. Lots of possibilities for drums to get really creative.
Thanks! It is the album version. I removed most of the drums and vocals with the vocal remover in Audacity. This removes everything that is panned in the center. So in most productions this is vocals, snare and kick and a good part of the toms. Than with EQ I try to filter out as much of the cymbals and remainings of the toms as possible without messing up to much of the guitar sound. Because filtering out the center also removes solo guitars I added the solo from a guitar playthrough video where the guitar was much louder in the mix than the rest of the music. And then I just tried to play all the parts as accurate as possible.
@@TonyVandenEyndeDrums great cover man but the audio quality is honestly bad, not trying to hate, just stating facts. You claim to have butchered the center but all you can hear is a very narrow mono version of the mix, including your own recorded drums, not sure if something went wrong upon exporting?
@@Behemoth1105 Thanks man! Yeah, there is a big trade off in guitar sound when trying getting rid of the original drums. I just try to do my best. For the rest I don't wan't to focus on audio mixing that much. I would love to but I just don't have the time and I spend it all on practicing drums which is my main goal. But maybe I could play a cover and get guitar tracks from a guitar player and get it mixed properly by someone who actually knows what he is doing.
@@TonyVandenEyndeDrums If you would like, you can send me the raw drum tracks (+ perhaps the original song of this cover, I could find it myself aswell I suppose). And I would gladly take a shot at it and mix it for you so maybe you can reupload it with better audio? If you're not interested that is ok ofcourse ;)
One of the most hardest part is that burst-double bass while blasting and you have to stop blasting the snare for a while, and vice versa.
he covered the uncoverable song Grossman did all drummers dirty with these blast beats
What a beast. Incredibly tight playing of such a complicated song
Ps. this is the only drum cover
Everything about this performance is excellent.
my favorite part of this song have always been the tiny snare rolls at 1:45 and onward in that bridge. It's the details that count.
Hold up, clique freak?!
I feel like Necrophagist drum covers are hit or miss and this is firmly in HIT, excellent job sir.
Thanks! That means a lot to me.
I was gonna go to bed... then you popped in the recommended with some bangers from my childhood.... no sleep it is then.... 🤘😂🤘
Take a bow man!! Fantastic cover!!

Amazing cover! I'm also impressed by the quality of the audio of your drumming, every hit sounds so incredibly clean! 🔥🔥
Shock and awe, muy impressivo!
nailed it
Man you nailed the song that can be easily the harder to play on drums ever. You're a fucking beast.
Making it look easy, awesome work
Thanks! It wasn't easy though.
sick af!
You did it, absolute madman!!
The Beast is BACK!

Epic drumming, nice one dude! 🤜🤛🤘
Insane timing skills there.
Your foot technique has definitely improved from your earlier videos, much more stable and precise, nice work!
Thanks man!
Lockdown skills. 5 more pandemics and I will be able play at 430 bpm.
Sick

Best cover ive seen, if only your blasts were faster
Epic cover! \m/ Can you do something from Mgla, please ?
Thanks, I will see if I have some time to do that.

bro...
Absolutely no room sound, zero resonance from the drums themselves; sounds sound-replaced
Wtf???? Omfg
