Think I got everything except the amphibious landing - that's still confusing as all get out. My son is thrilled with this game. Guess I don't have to worry about him dating any time soon.
You put either 2 soldiers or one tank on a transport, move the transport no further than 2 spaces, unload the transport and fight. If you have battleships, they can shoot once at the bad guys on land. What's confusing about it?
Dear Harsh, although Axis & Allies is not my cup of tea, I do appreciate you play through and analysis of your other games (Hannibal, etc.). I like your point by point approach. Please keep up the good work.
Tanks actually defend and attack on a 3 below, transports cannot defend either, apart from that an okay video and a good explanation for the game for novice players.
I actually like the Econ indicator on the board. It makes it easy to keep up with. The downside is using a pen and paper to keep track of your actual cash. Knowing the rules of AA classic you can always add the ability to buy production centers, AA guns and R&D.
There is one other edition to the series. The original edition. It was, most recently, put out by Avalon Hill. I'm not sure who originally made it (I think Hasbro?) but, this game has been out since the mid 80's at least.
Yes, this game is fairly simple compared to every other version and its pretty easy to learn, also it only takes about 2 hours to play a game of it unlike others which take about 6 to 10 hours
6:06 The number of IPCs given for Szechuan and Caucasus are wrong. According to this map, they are both worth 4, but in reality Szechuan is 1 and Caucasus is 2.
In an amphibious assualt, "Air units defending in a territory can fight only in that territory. They cannot participate in the sea combat." So, they can't actually choose to defend the adjacent sea zone. (See page 15)
Any body have missing or short of some pieces missing from the game? Even with the stacking pieces I don't even have enough to place germany. I don't have the games inventory list.
I have a question I would like to know what exactly do I attack with multiple units do my chances increase with more units so if I have 3 tanks does that multiple with 3x3 so 9 or less or what and another question can u just make a quick video for the attack and do I throw as many dices as many different units I have ?
No its simpler than that you put the amount of dice the same number as the units you have if you dont have enough dice you can use the same 4 dice that the game gives You take the type of unit amount and put the same amount of dice near the battle strip but only for that unit and this is how it works When multiple units attack each unit attacks for themselves Example: i am attacking siberia with 2 infinatry against 3 infantry My units role the dice and my dice are 5 and 1 so only one hit if you oderstood the video you know what happens next
Hello, I have a question which me and my friends don't understand. Germans move first and on the 16 sea zone there is a submarine. If it attack British carrier on 14 sea zone, it can not defend itself?
Why do to Soviets only start with 7 IPC's when they have 9 IPCs worth of regions, as well as the USA only starts at 15 when they have 20 IPCs worth of regions?
Two questions when a defending army gets a hit who picks which attacking army that was hit and do battleships and destroyers do land attacks when an amphibious assault is being done
It's like Risk in that you fight battles and take over territories. It's got a lot more complexity though. It's WWII so you play on teams. Each nation has several land, sea, and air units all with different attack and defense capabilities and movement ranges. You also get income from the territories you control an use that to purchase different units and customize your armies. There's a ton of other cool stuff I'm probably forgetting. If you like Risk and want more historical detail and strategy then this is a good game.
Unfortunately, the components are not the correct ones for their respective countries. Japanese Tiger tanks, American HMS Hood, German Akagi. Wrong pieces and not enough of them to begin with. Great game for a boiled down entry though.
Not having enough pieces is unacceptable though. If you pay 30 bucks for a game, the least you can expect is to have enough pieces to go by. When I set up my game, there were not enough chips for me to cover the entire setup. Fortunately I have a version of 1942, so I just changed out everything.
20:40 if the american infantry guy rolled a one (which scores a hit),.....what if germany didn't have any infantry guys to sacrifice....does this mean that the american infantry guy that rolled a one could take down the tank?
Great video, understanding the game a lot more. I have just a couple questions if you don’t mind. 1) When attackers retreat rather than push the attack, do they just go back to where they started before their combat moves? 2) If there is a neighboring enemy territory that is unoccupied, can any unit enter it during the non combat move phase to claim it as their own? Thanks!
If an Carrier has planes when a two-part amphibious assault takes place can the planes take off or does this have to be done before the assault takes place?
I think you can remove the planes as long as they can declare a safe landing zone besides the Carrier. Essentially, they will move during the Non-combat phase. If they are going to attack a different target you can declare this as well. (Once again need a safe landing place.) Otherwise, if the planes have no place to land. (The Carrier is lost) then you lose the planes as well.
That would work. Just declare to the other players where they will land. If there is no safe place to land, then you probably can't do it. However, if there is you're just clarifying where the planes will fly to during the non-combat phase.
The planes stay in the stay in their current sea zone until the non-combat phase and then they move to the safe landing zone. If the carrier doesn't move they stay with the carrier. If the carrier moves out they stay behind.
I'm buying this version of the game to start because i want to know if I like it before I buy a 50$ game to start is that a good idea because I've heard bad things about it but im not sure plz help.
Not sure where you're buying this for $50, but it's only $20 on Amazon right now. This version is inexpensive and the easiest to learn and quickest to play for new players. There may be more advanced versions out there, but they're much more expensive and take longer to play. If you're not sure if you'll like Axis & Allies this is a pretty cheap investment to find out.
Harsh Rules: Board Game Tutorials thanks for answering bought it from Amazon what I meant 50$ I was talking about the anniversary edition Pacific Atlantic those types
just looked it up, apparently its a very common issue with axis and allies 1941, apparently if you contact Wizards of the coasts customer service and let them know of the issue they will send you the replacement pieces, however those statements were made a decade ago
I know this is a very stripped down version and all but its actually tremendous fun. I sometimes wonder if less is more.
This is a great help to us understanding the game. The rulebook is pretty difficult to grasp...thanks!
There can actually be a 6th player who can play as France, but they just run away from the board crying at the start of the game.
LOL!

Really helped, I couldn't understand the booklet at all.
Thanks!

Super Man ayyyyyy
Yes good video the booklet was so bad it did not help at all.
Awesome! I was getting bored reading the rulebook and this video made it all so much easier. It also solved some questions. Thank you sir!
Think I got everything except the amphibious landing - that's still confusing as all get out. My son is thrilled with this game. Guess I don't have to worry about him dating any time soon.
How old is your son
He'll be alright.
Well I love this game and I married a run way model so there is hope for him. 😀
You put either 2 soldiers or one tank on a transport, move the transport no further than 2 spaces, unload the transport and fight. If you have battleships, they can shoot once at the bad guys on land. What's confusing about it?
Yeah...so I'm just going to leave this here...

Thank you for your attention to detail and your use of visual effects.
You're welcome! Whatever helps folks learn the game!
The pieces for each faction aren’t different, Russia and the UK have P-40’s and Japan has Tigers and Heinkels
Not to mention US and USSR having HMS Hood for battleships and Germany having Shokaku’s for aircraft carriers
Yeh that's my only complaint
Great video. My son and I were kinda scratching our heads at the instruction manual. Thanks for making it easy.
The us is supposed to have 17 IPC. Count them on the board. It is a typo on the game board. Szechwan is supposed to be 2 if I’m not mistaken.
1 but still
me to iknow
And Soviet Union is supposed to have 9 IPC they didn’t count Archangel and Kareliea
Tanks actually defend and attack on a 3 below, transports cannot defend either, apart from that an okay video and a good explanation for the game for novice players.
Played a few a games already and never caught that invasion treasury raid rule, so helpful
I actually like the Econ indicator on the board. It makes it easy to keep up with. The downside is using a pen and paper to keep track of your actual cash. Knowing the rules of AA classic you can always add the ability to buy production centers, AA guns and R&D.
Thanks Ben Harsh. Very simple instructions make playing this game much more enjoyable. I may just buy this game now.
There is one other edition to the series. The original edition. It was, most recently, put out by Avalon Hill. I'm not sure who originally made it (I think Hasbro?) but, this game has been out since the mid 80's at least.
I first played the original in 1990.
Guys is this a good version to have if I just started playing this game and want to teach family how to play
Yes, this game is fairly simple compared to every other version and its pretty easy to learn, also it only takes about 2 hours to play a game of it unlike others which take about 6 to 10 hours
Why are there missing pieces
I mean, the only REAL missing piece is definitely money
Use the chips idk
6:06 The number of IPCs given for Szechuan and Caucasus are wrong. According to this map, they are both worth 4, but in reality Szechuan is 1 and Caucasus is 2.
In an amphibious assualt, "Air units defending in a territory can fight only in that territory. They cannot participate in the sea combat." So, they can't actually choose to defend the adjacent sea zone. (See page 15)
best board game explaining video ever, thank you
Can battleships and destroyers attack land units on adjacent land squares or are they always purely involved in naval combat
Any body have missing or short of some pieces missing from the game? Even with the stacking pieces I don't even have enough to place germany. I don't have the games inventory list.
um idk but make sure you have the army standing on top of the stack count as 1 it will save 3 or 4 over time and that is what i needed
8 infentry 7 tanks
green 8
red 4
grey/white 22
THANK YOU this video helped me and my family to find out how to play this game
You're welcome. Have a good game!
I have a question I would like to know what exactly do I attack with multiple units do my chances increase with more units so if I have 3 tanks does that multiple with 3x3 so 9 or less or what and another question can u just make a quick video for the attack and do I throw as many dices as many different units I have ?
No its simpler than that you put the amount of dice the same number as the units you have if you dont have enough dice you can use the same 4 dice that the game gives
You take the type of unit amount and put the same amount of dice near the battle strip but only for that unit and this is how it works
When multiple units attack each unit attacks for themselves
Example: i am attacking siberia with 2 infinatry against 3 infantry
My units role the dice and my dice are 5 and 1 so only one hit if you oderstood the video you know what happens next
Tell me if you understood what i sayed
you cant roll a 9 on a dice so no
17:34 for prices on pieces
So on my thing is says that Russia has 6 infantry to start, not 3. Am I missing something?
Hello, I have a question which me and my friends don't understand. Germans move first and on the 16 sea zone there is a submarine. If it attack British carrier on 14 sea zone, it can not defend itself?
So you have less figures than you need to place?
Thats the best tutorial thanks man ❤
Anyone notice the shortage of tanks? Germany calls for 6 total at the beginning but only gives 5
2 tanks are on the same spot, so you can use a grey chip to mark the second tank
wasn't Italy an axis until 1943 ?
True but by that time their forces were dead
They where to useless to be in the game
Yes, but for simplicity they aren´t included in this version (they are in 1940)
Germany in this game is Germany and Italy
Are we sure it’s 15 IPC’s starting for USA? I counted 17 IPC’s worth of territories.
Why do to Soviets only start with 7 IPC's when they have 9 IPCs worth of regions, as well as the USA only starts at 15 when they have 20 IPCs worth of regions?
There is a mistake on the video, if you see the map, Russia has 7 IPCs (3, 2 ,1 ,1)
I hope you can also show how to play axis and allies 1942 spring edition :D
Two questions when a defending army gets a hit who picks which attacking army that was hit and do battleships and destroyers do land attacks when an amphibious assault is being done
If there is a choice to be made for casualties the Defender makes it. Battleships and Destroyers only get one shot as part of an amphibious assault.
Where did you find those 'FAQ Revisions' to the setup? They make sense though.
Thank you very much for helping me getting known with the game :)
Great and very high quality explanatory presentation!
Is half of this really just reading off the starting setups?
its half the game, too!
Sorry to ask this as I am sure it's been asked many times, is this like Risk but WW2? 😅
It's like Risk in that you fight battles and take over territories. It's got a lot more complexity though. It's WWII so you play on teams. Each nation has several land, sea, and air units all with different attack and defense capabilities and movement ranges. So in this version the only thing that can destroy planes in the air are other planes? No AAA guns?
Mr Jugsy is correct. Planes can be destroyed by any unit. The anti-Aircraft gun rules just keep getting changed from different versions of the game.
Dang, its weird seeing a war game that doesn't have a thousand controls and mechanics
Oh that’s the axis and Allie’s 1942 🤣
Unfortunately, the components are not the correct ones for their respective countries. Japanese Tiger tanks, American HMS Hood, German Akagi. Wrong pieces and not enough of them to begin with. Great game for a boiled down entry though.
I don't blame them for it though because they set it up to be the same pieces for each faction with individual colors for each nation.
Not having enough pieces is unacceptable though. If you pay 30 bucks for a game, the least you can expect is to have enough pieces to go by. When I set up my game, there were not enough chips for me to cover the entire setup. Fortunately I have a version of 1942, so I just changed out everything.
You got that right
@@simonhakansson9300 you payed 30 bucks! The pieces arent a problem how much you payed is I got it for 15 bucks
Why does Axis and allies don't have enough pieces for all the countries?
20:40 if the american infantry guy rolled a one (which scores a hit),.....what if germany didn't have any infantry guys to sacrifice....does this mean that the american infantry guy that rolled a one could take down the tank?
A FROZEN FIRE Yes, the tank would have had to take the hit if there was no other troops to take it.
Obviously
So In order to play this game we need money (IPC)?
Or you can write down the amounts with a pencil and paper. I prefer money.
Well dang that’s silly they sell a game with no money. Do they sell that separately? Is it in $1 $2 $5?
@@McChiefa I'm guessing Hasbro was trying to save cost. It was a dumb move though.
Great video, understanding the game a lot more. 2) no

Big cringe

Turn sequence
rule book i have says tank tanks attack and defend at 3
What happens if you attack a place with no defenders
With no defense you immediately take over the territory.
Thank you but does it count as a combat move or a noncombat move?
I believe it counts as a Combat Move since technically you're conquering a territory. It's just an undefended territory.
Good video pretty helpful to know how to finally play the game properly.
You said that the soviet union had 15 infantry but there are only 8 infantry pieces. How do we set this up?
Use chips beneath the infantry units to represent multiple units.
Thank you i just got to the part where you say that in the vid. that makes a lot of sense
Bro my little cousin got this and this is the most complicated game ever how tf is this even fun?!
Woow bro! Very nice video!! But, Axis and Allies Europe\Pacific 2nd Edition???
Is it just me or does my game not come with enough plastic miniatures for the setup
mine didnt either
just looked it up, apparently its a very common issue with axis and allies 1941, apparently if you contact Wizards of the coasts customer service and let them know of the issue they will send you the replacement pieces, however those statements were made a decade ago
The most recent 1941 board game doesn’t have the specific miniatures.
How can Russia ever add sea vessels??
They are added to an adjacent sea zone from the Industrial Complex.
Good video, however some of the roll requirements on defense are wrong. Just a viewer note
Thanks for the help!
I finally got Axis And Allies 1941 it's my first a&a game kill for entry
For the allies battleship it is the Admiral-class battlecruiser
For the axis it's the Kongo-class battleship
Destroyers r flechter and Z-52 class
Axis bombers r Nazi condor bombers
Allies have b-17 bombers
The twins joke killed me
Very helpful
So battleships and other ships don't actually assult the land forces at all?
Battleships only get the one offshore battery shot.
Awesome thanks
and by the way compliments to your work I really appreciate it, it is a big help! :D
