Me five... it's arriving next Tuesday.. only I picked the O bracelet. Although I think that it will look good on a nice quality dark blue/grey leather or rubber strap.. I have a few different opinions waiting for the Ascent to arrive.
Jody is heading in a good direction i think. Started with a 'safe design' dive watch to get talked about, and now launched a type that pleases everyone with solid specifications. The dial options are the cherry on the top.
You've gotta be a real R or dyed in the wool watch idiot savant, brand loyal, swiss watch mafia soldier to buy a Mido or a Rado. Especially over _this_ watch. JFC. Those brands are a money laundering operation first and a watchmaker second. Never once has seen one outside of a dusty old jewelry case.
A point of clarification. It's not the engineers that drive features and ID design. Engineers design the watch to meet the specs and look and feel the product owners want. Typically they have limited say except for saying no not possible for the price or the technology we have today. Otherwise, anything is possible with enough money and time.
Nice video, the only video which is bringing out the best shots of the orange fume dial , i pulled the trigger on the orange fume and ordered the J style bracelet also as an add on.
your killing me smalls / i was dead set on the black helix but now seeing your lighting on the adventurine dial im not sure ... now i might need 2 damn it lol
Really enjoyed this video. I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these, I'm thinking the orange fume' dial, it really catches the eye. I'm curious.... in your closeups, their is a rainbow type reflection from the bezel. What kind of light are you using? Thanks again, Mark!
These are great but not perfect. The lume on the second hand counterbalance looks silly and the lack of a display caseback is a very odd decision given the type of watch.
Snobs will turn their noses up, but most watch people can recognise a well executed watch with good movement . It’s very hard with this type of watch to differentiate from Rolex , Seamaster and Seiko . The indices and hands may be familiar but the case and face finishes are novel. The question is how well does it compare to the likes of Christopher Ward , Hamilton dad Seiko. The Citizen 9000 movement is probably better than most cheaper ETA 2824 and its clones.
Nice job on release. What i continue to not understand is how Jodie can offer a microadjust bracelet at this price point, but Seiko still can't do it on any model. 😂
Massive thank you. You just made my decision happen. I was frustrated with all the reviews. Because NoNe showed the case package. I was thinking it was going to be a plastic boring box. @onemorewatch please point this out because it adds great value and separates you from the rest #onemorewwtch
I think the O bracelet will help tone down the dressy aspect of the watch, not to mention throwing it on a strap, e.g. vintage leather, suede….def potential strap monster, depending on dial choice
@@encol7953 yeah you’re right. I’d defo go for the O style. As much as the Aventurine dial (or whatever it’s called) is popular. It’s extra bling and I think a novelty rather than a serious choice. For me it would be white dial or green Fume on an O style. Only one day left to decide! Or I could just buy tiles for my bathroom which is what I really should be doing. 😅
@@ollyw2897 Well, your shortlist choices are a real coincidence…I couldn’t make a decision between the white dial and green fume myself, so ended up buying both…which was actually my wife’s suggestion (God bless her!). I selected those because I felt they were classic in look which would give me greater wear out of them. Talk about parallel universes…I also have an ensuite shower that needs tiling repairs…maybe next month ;)
Jody said they wanted the second hand to also have lume but to avoid it being too bulky and throwing off the proportions of all the hands, they put lume on the second hand’s counterweight.
nkuwan You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Jody's watches don't inspire me. Just put out a bland, generic design and then spam colorways in the hope of gap-filling some budget watch enthusiasts low rent collection. I wonder what his next generic offering will be? Probably a military/field, ripping off some Hamilton, Vertex, or Laco.
I kinda agree. I’m thinking about getting the purple dial version. It’s a color that I don’t currently have in my collection, but it’s also a color that I wouldn’t be willing to spend a lot of money on.
This watch is a box ticking exercise, and unfortunately lacks soul. It has no personality. And no - some garish bright colour is no substitute for design flair and individuality. It’s shiny, colourful and…. meh
Basically rip off of Second Hand microbrand. From the box, to the watch. More than 2x cheaper, but not 2x worse. Both produced in china. Probably not bad budget choice, but If you have the money Second Hand is better one.
I’m so glad I bought the orange fume, incredibly gorgeous dial! Mind you that aventurine is something else too! I loved your review Mark, loved the light transition shots which only your channel does ;)
I second that, I ordered the Aventurine dial and your video review has shown what to expect it to look like, in all lighting conditions, the best of any I have seen. Really good job technically with the lighting and a great review in general.
Oh, that is so lovely and so sweet! Everybody absolutely loves Jody. Why not? Do any of you know who he is underneath the TH-cam persona? And for all the negativity I’ll get for sure- I do. I had the non pleasure to meet a very different side of the guy. So preemptively I will say, “That’s my experience with the bully”, and I don’t give a toss about how you all react……….
@@thadeusbaggins9967 got the screenshots, not for public view. Yet he came on me with a full aggressive and abusive onslaught, after I humoristically suggested, that following his ultra condescending take down of Sarb017 owners who should get rid of the watch because they are not mountaineers- That all dive watch owners throw away their pieces, if they aren’t professional divers. Or that all pilots watch owners get rid of them- if they’re not professional pilots…… In short, I suggested that his logic isn’t that applicable, in most cases. How dared I 🙀…
If these were brand names they would cost 3x more. The “in house movement” would have probably been the same movement with a custom rotor and better finishing/tolerances. Amazing value and quality with these.
I also meant to say I'm glad to see Erebus is selling the bands ala carte'. That's great for me because I like both styles, so I'm gonna buy both. It's like having two watches for the price of one, IMHO [well maybe a little bit more!]. Can't beat that!
I've been planning to get the orange dial but you might have just sold the aventurine version to me, too. Love the video presentation! Thanks for the great vid.
Now I'm not getting the aventurine. The indices don't stand out and makes the dial messy looking. Hard to say NO to sparkles. I ordered the unpopular fume green.
The 4 week launch discount ends Monday, so don’t wait too long if you do plan on buying. I went with the fume orange and this video helped confirm my choice. The aventurine looks great too but it’s just a bit much for my taste and as a day to day wear.
You know something has some serious bling when fume orange is the less flashy choice. 😉 Still tempted by the orange but I have a Seiko Sharp Edge in blood moon red and it feels like they'd step on each other a bit.
I'm watching every Ascent vid until my Aventurine on the jubilee turns up. Your review is one of the best. Great work fella. 👍
I'm doing the same, ordered the same as you!

I ordered the malachite with J bracelet. Can't wait to get it on wrist.
I was not expecting these to be as good as they are! I'm going to get the blue or black enamel dial. I love the look of this.

Love the Orange fume variant. One sole downer for me is that perhaps they should have just kept the logo and removed the erebus text.

How is the aventurine compared to CW sealander celeste?
Nice review Mark, you covered all the bases. I've subscribed.
Is it just the lighting in these videos or is the orange fume closer to a brown than an orange?
It’s a burnt orange, so halfway between the two. Will look more orange outside and more brown indoors I expect
Another great review !

To be fair Seiko do offer it on some of their higher end Astron models 😂

I don't understand the lume 'blop' on the seconds hand. Looks weird.
The tear drop shape is odd for me.

What are the import fees to the US?
Probably minimal at this price.
No import duty i think, watches below 600$ don't have import duty in US

The SARB black enamel and blue helix versions both looked to good not to order. The cherry on the top is hi-beat Miyota 9000 movement.
Very kool… 😎
Man, the green fumé dial one looks so nice.
Beautiful timepieces. However, at first glance, the brand‘s logo looks a bit similar to the one of Henry Archers‘s emblem.

If this design is bland and generic than so is grand seiko or Oris.
This company needs to step up on their quality and product support and stop reaching for the bottom of the barrel. Another cash grab destined to fail.
