Hey guys, can anyone tell me why m2k does a bair at 4:00 after the f smash. Does it give him more horizontal momentum or did he just do it to turn himself around? Because he could have just forward jump and would have done the same thing. M2k is probably the only marth (that I've seen) that does that (alot). Any help?
Late reply. It's called the Marth killer. If a Marth does an up special while you're light shielding at the ledge, you'll instantly fall back to the ledge to get a quick edge hog.
But if i remember right then it's as strong as the attack it's countering. Therefore, would be useful against some slow attacks e.g link's down attack, kirby's hammer.
David Dao nah, marth's counter in melee only does 7% with low knockback and too much endlag to combo off of. Plus it has 4 frames of startup, which isn't much, but you can't just react to another move with it; you have to predict it. Also if you miss it's a really bad. The one nice thing it does do is force spacies to tech-roll, so you get on the offensive, even if it's not a strict combo. It's especially good against Falco because he relies on his fantastic approach game and his grabs are poor, so most players won't use them as often as other characters.

I noticed at the beginning that M2K wasn't playing as well as he usually does. His movements weren't as flowing and he missed out on quite a few combos. But he started to show how much of a threat he is at the end
Despite Mew2kings struggles, 13:40 is the reason why I am still a fan. That man is just unbelievable, and he does the coolest moves even when he loses. His Marth is just so much fun to watch.
EpicNightShades I doubt it. It's probably some impostor. Mew2king has stated on his Twitch Stream enough times that he rarely plays online because its more of a guessing game (due to lag) than it is actual reading. If he is playing online, its only with certain people.

Leffen is honestly pretty well known for having extremely bad combo DI compared to Mang0, Armada etc. And at wtfox M2K had recently gone through some tough times with his left finger being so swollen and hurt so bad he barely practiced before that tournament. I think he performed extremely well against Mang0, ad I have watched it plenty of times just because how good that set was

I am a Smash 4 competitive player trying to learn Melee competitively, do any of you guys have any tips about Marth? Also, I would like to know how you control in Melee competitive play. In Smash 4, I play with tap jump off and never use the C stick for aerials nor smash attacks. Since you can't change controls, do you people jump with the analog stick or do you use Y/X to jump? Do you guys use the C stick for aerials?
Also, as a Marth main, I suggest you use forward air. It's nice in the nuetral game. Marth also has very nice edgeguarding tools. (down tilt, f-smash, back-air, etc.)
Vinson Games using the c stick for aerials is useful when you want to control your momentum with the analog stick. It makes landing dair spikes way easier for example.
You should be using the c stick for aerials. You can't bair while moving forward without it. Also, fair and fair are your bread and butter and grab combos are very strong. I started doing much better when I figured out that you should be landing a grab more than once in a game
That last stock man, look how M2K smoothly escapes Leffen's shield pressure right before doing that final combo. You can't let up for even a moment because M2K will swiftly and mercilessly execute you.

How you use the controller is up to you, but I would recommend using X/Y to jump.
