The Achillus dreadnought was the first centerpiece model i painted last year, when I started playing. I was so proud of the base and paint job, uh, amazing. On the tabletop it was fast, tanky, damage out the a$$, it was glorious. Then 10th ed turned around the corner and my proud, beautiful centerpiece is now a useless piece of trash, waste of points, waste of plastic, waste of money. Way to kill the mood, GW everybody.
Rule of cool matters the most. You can totally get decent results by learning how to use your units, just don't aim for the top tables and you should be fine! Playing for fun rather than playing to win is equally valid
@@Rejnols Man we are now trash tier 43% winrate with drukhari. Plz if you want to enjoy your game, play something resilient and impactful. Otherwise you will only remove your models from the table
As an owner of 6 dreadnoughts l thought that the update would drop their point costs at worse, and maybe upgrade their rules and movement . I did not expect the thing that happened. Which with combination with the other changes made me question the will to play till the codex comes out.
I hope we get a detachment focused on them. Maybe the detachment rule gives them back 3” of movement and gives them the ability to re-roll their wounds. Have to wait till spring and see.
Dreads for sure need a lot of help to be good! The issue is that if a whole detachment focuses on them we end up with list that are like "9 dreads or noting" which isn't healthy either.
@@Rejnols I look at it like a chaos knights list with wardogs. Instead of a big boy you get decent infantry to go along. Something that gives you a detachment where these models feel worth their points. At least a stratagem in 9th that can give one deep strike. The entire Achillus profile begs to have deep strike.
I was expecting the venerable contemptor to recieve some more weapons options because of the new kit. Maybe not the fancy 30k stuff, but at least lascannons and possibly the missile launcher. I guess GW thought differently, which is something i still don't understand from a buisness point lf view.. I really haf high hopes for a contemptor with dual twin lascannons as a gun platform, but that did not happen 😢
They give you options for 2 of the Caestus fists, is that only so you have two guns from 2 fists or do you also get 10 attacks instead of 5 melee attacks? I guess you only choose one melee weapon profile so it ends up being a waste.
You do not get 10 attacks. As you might already know, when you fight in melee you pick 1 weapon to fight with. Doesn't matter how many weapons you have, you can still only fight with one of them. So yes currently double fist only gives you double flamers, which is not that exciting since the gun arm is gonna do more work
We used to have the best of the dreads, still do design wise, but to field them over wardens or allarus? Competitively speaking? Idk it just feels like flavor over anything at this point

"I'l be playing a scout team with some bikes and this character because he was in the area for a mission..." "Yeah, reddit said this is meta."
@MrBiochronic stay strong and play to your preference, brother! The points and rules will change and our flavor will be top again! In the meantime I love Venatari and they are quite good rn so I'm planning on fielding some!
@@bb194806 they do sound fun. Only problem I have rn is that over halve my army consinsts of Dreadnoughts, tanks and bikes. The only "competitive" units i have now are like 12 Guards and a shield captain... So thats my list from now. yay.... :,)
A lot of sub-Land Raider vehicles just get mulched right now. Lethal Hits massed volume shooting really invalidates any high Toughness values in the game right now.
Always appreciate channels that focus on specific armies!! Now I feel theres a legit resource to learn Custodes better lol

I'm new to Warhammer and I chose Custodes as my first army with zero research. I just thought the big golden warriors looked cool.

i just play a achillus, he disappear at the opponent turn vs a simple melta knight. he did 3 damage

They are FAR TOO SLOW... Its a pity because the models are georgous!!!!
