I'm glad that I made it this time and yes I can answer your questions the blue beret is the iconic piece for the vdv in Afghanistan yes they would wear it in combat depending on the situation and where they will stationed the gold buckle however most veteran soldiers of the Afghan war would take the buckle and sell it for shoes hats basically anything from what I have been told the main reason is because they would shine in the sunlight in Afghanistan and give away their position I decided to keep mine because it's an original and because it looks cool but thank you for having me 👏👏
This is just not true. I have never seen on one photo from Afghan that they are wearing barets in combat. Only place they wore them was on parades, on bases or when they were on leave. The oversuit is also wrong, its not KLMK its modern KLM two piece suit and one of the references that you have sent is from early 2000s not from Afghan. No harm ment, I just wanted to clarify that
@Soviet_History05 no you're wrong there may not be any pictures of them wearing berets in combat but that's because they are very rarely is any pictures during combat and the suit is a klmk it was modified to be a two-piece suit from the guy that I bought it from and yes I know one of the pictures is from the 2000s it is the best that I could find
@@CruzPershing My brother in christ. In reenactment there is one most important rule no photo = not used. Yes you can assume that it happend rarely but if you have no proof than dont use it. Also I ment field photos of course there is not much combat footage since VHS cameras were so rare in USSSR. I presume they didnt switched head gear immidietly after combat. Last thing the suit is obviously two piece modern suit, I saw it million times on beggining reencters that confuse it with KLMK. I own one myself and I also own KLMK so I know that if you would saw zipper onto KLMK it would tear really quick since the matterial is about as sturdy as duvet cover. I also own KLM suit that you are wearing so I know that first one were made in early 2000s, they actually saw some use in combat in Georgia. Maybe you confused it with KLM-C suit which is 2 part suit that was released in mid 80s but that one is also made of thin cotton and use buttons not zipper. Essentially if you want to tell apart soviet stuff from later RF made stuff just look if the suit or vest uses zipper or buttons if it uses zipper it is past 90s made.
Wonderful Kits again! But the South (and North!) Korean Loadout is just Crazy! Easy 11/10 for me! And those Indonesian Fernspäher Loudouts go VERY hard too! Greetings from a German Flecktarn Nerd btw. when i finally got Money for it again, i will reconstruct my Flecktarn Kits, and send them in too!
The only thing that bothers me on the last kit is the cockade on the boonie hat. As far as I know these are only seen on the „Feldmütze“, the Field cap. Never seen a boonie with one on it. I could be wrong tho :)
Agreed, have never seen it on a boonie either. I was willing to look past it for the overall kit, as it was well put together otherwise! I’d have loved if he used an integrated scope rail but the ka1 top rail is still generally alright for this time period.
late so this probably won't be seen, but the shotgun shell in the helmet band (4:15) could be representing a toe popper, which in some cases could just be 12 gauge shotshells.
Never too late to be seen! Chris is actually one of my friends and he definitely was just rocking fhe cliche helmet band filler. The toe popper idea is a neat one though!
Oh man that Desert Storm kit is great. I've got one of those myself, maybe that'll be my next submission... I don't have a MOPP suit (yet) but I have basically everything else. Including the M17 and the PASGT kevlars. I've even got an A2. About the anglehead lol, I know I gotta get a real one haha. The one I got is one of those Rothco pieces of trash. TBH I hate the damn thing even as an everyday flashlight. I'll be getting a proper one soon, I've been kinda focusing on buying East German stuff (Impression is nowhere near ready) but I do need to start shifting back into 'nam soon anyway. I'll have my video on my kit out soon! I had some audio issues with camera so I have to essentially redo the whole thing. I plan on going into depth on some of my personal items and little things, so you'll get your pocket litter fix for sure! You'll see some more obscure and overlooked pieces of kit for sure. Also I got a (very basic and kinda farb in it's own right, greyshop :'( ) Soviet Afghan Kit. That first kit looks okay but to me it seems a lot more like a Chechen War kit. And I'm confident that middle reference photo is from the 1st Chechen War. Note the red white and blue balloons in the background (Modern Russian colors) and the Lifchik chest rigs. Those *were* used in extremely limited in experimental capacities in the Soviet Afghan War, but were mainly used in the Chechen wars. Also, for the gold belt- AFAIK that's perfectly fine for Soviet Afghan. You can see a good deal of pics with them being used. Mine is from 1975 so it's definitely kosher. May have even been in-country for all I know. Also on the beret, yeah no way is that being used in combat. Basically the only choices you got for combat is the SSh68, MAYBE SSh40, with an Afghanka Cap underneath. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, though. It's been a few years since I've seriously looked into Soviet Afghan history and reenacting resources. Also I'm not trying to put down Mr. Cruz at all, the kit still looks really great! The context is mainly for you, haha! Thanks for your kind words on my kit! I'll see you at Greene Lightning, but ideally you won't see me 🌳🔫👀🌳

@The.Gear.Locker no thank you for letting me be on the show it made being sick since November worth it 👏

Great Video! but the crucial question for me is Where can i find Multitarn equipment?
Private sellers and eBay Kleinenzeigen are going to be your best bets!
