There were 15 women members in the Constituent Assembly. They included Sarojini Naidu, RajkumariAmritKaur, HansabenJivraj Mehta, SuchetaKripalani and G. Durgabai, who spoke of equal rights for one and all, when women in many parts of the world were denied basic rights.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in his concluding speech in constituent assembly on November 25, 1949, stated that:
The credit that is given to me does not really belong to me. It belongs partly to Sir B.N. Rau the Constitutional Advisor to the Constituent Assembly who prepared a rough draft of the Constitution for the consideration of the Drafting Committee.. A part of the credit must go to the members of the Drafting Committee

ఆ తర్వాత 1934లో కమ్యూనిస్ట్ నాయకుడైన ఎం. ఎన్. రాయ్ రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్ ఆవశ్యకత తెలిపారు. 1935లో భారత జాతీయ కాంగ్రెస్ కూడా దీన్ని డిమాండ్ చేసింది. 1940లో బ్రిటిష్ ప్రభుత్వం ఒక రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్తును స్థాపించటానికి అంగీకరించింది. 1946లో క్యాబినెట్ మిషన్ ప్లాన్ ద్వారా మొట్టమొదటి సారిగా రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్ ఎన్నికలు జరిగాయి. రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్ సభ్యులను రాష్ట్రాలు ఎన్నుకుంటాయి. మొత్తం 389 మంది సభ్యులలో 292 మంది రాష్ట్రాల నుండి, 93 మంది సంస్థానాల నలుగురు చీఫ్ కమీషనర్ ప్రావిన్సేస్ అఫ్ ఢిల్లీ, అజ్మీర్, కూర్గ్, బ్రిటిష్ బలోచిస్తాన్ నుండి ఎన్నికయ్యారు. ఆగస్టులో ఎన్నికలు పూర్తి అయ్యి కాంగ్రెస్ 208 స్థానాలను, ముస్లిం లీగ్ 73 స్థానాలు గెలుచుకున్నాయి. తర్వాత కాంగ్రెస్ తో విభేదించి ముస్లిం లీగ్ తప్పుకుని పాకిస్తాన్ కు వేరే పరిషత్ ని మౌంట్ బాటన్ ప్లాన్ ప్రకారం జూన్ 3న స్థాపించారు. అలా విడిపోయిన తర్వాత భారత రాజ్యాంగ పరిషత్ లో 299 స్థానాలు ఉన్నాయి.[1]
