32 Ten (where Pixar was created) in San Rafael is closing permanently this week and equipment from historical productions being auctioned off. The birthplace of Pixar, I was lucky enough to have spent time there sitting in the rooms where these legends worked and created most of the films that shaped my creative aspirations.
If you are lucky enough to do something like this, walk into rooms where history was made and be inspired I wish it for you because it will stay with you and fuel your engine.
Raised in San Rafael I wanted to work at ILM, Skywalker and Pixar since I was seven years old.
Thanks for this podcast Rich. 🤙🏽😉

An enormously innovative and informative podcast about Creativity and creating new ways of doing things that have never been done before. How capturing the elusive nature or the essence of working together with groups of brilliant & creative people in an environment where the higher purpose is a reflection of everyone working towards a collective insight in an atmosphere where as a group everyone is heard and feels safe to voice views and ideas in order to grow something new. Excellent interview to be applied to all walks of life and human nature. How creating and telling stories/movies and creating narratives and thought processes that harness energy while creating a path towards the collective and becoming one vs an attitude of being separate in one's thinking in creating new ideas that have never been done before like Pixar did. Awesome interview.

The comments about the unseen and uknown reminds me of the idea of the blindspot. We all can't see everything from our vantage point and we need others to point out what is in our blindspots.

Great to hear Ed talk about Creativity Inc - look forward to re-reading the new edition!
Rich, long time listener and fan of what you do as well. One observation on this episode:
For some reason, you frequently didn’t hold space for Ed and you were leading his answers, often to your conclusions and not his. Were you in a hurry?

People get more wise & mature with age but not all young people are foolish and not all old people are wise & mature.

@laralebeu36 sometimes that's hard for a mature old guy to wrap his head around but I couldn't agree more. I have gray hair does that qualify me? I know some pretty immature unwise Boomers. No hate to them just facts. I have love for all ages because we're all human and we're all going to be old someday and we were all young one day

@jonfranzen there are some amazing inventions out there that children came up with. Do some research and enjoy all that Humanity has to offer. Remember you were a child once. Would you want everyone older than you to think they're better than you just because of their age. It's just not a great metric to judge with. Anyway all the love to you and yours around you. Enjoy your life no matter what age you are and treat everyone with respect regardless
