Mhm. My neighbor has a wine collection with some bottles, unopened, dating back to the 60s. I drank a glass of one of their 74 bottles and they have to strain it. It was the best wine I've ever had
I used toothpaste from 1985 once out of desperation, lol. I had run out and all I had was the 80s toothpaste I had found in my dead aunt's house. I only grabbed it bc it was interesting, it was as old as me... But I ended up using it bc j really needed to brush my teeth! Lol . I had hoped that maybe I had a pre-flouride toothpaste, but I learned they starting using it around 1914.. so for sure my tube had it. It tasted full, def not as fresh as new paste. It didn't foam as well as new toothpaste, but it did the job. What weirded me out the most is they didn't seal the toothpaste with foil like toothpaste is today. I read that they started sealing products like toothpaste in a response to the Tylenol poisonings that happened in the 80s, to ensure the buyer that it hadn't been tampered with.

The wear rings on the old bottle are from repeated returning/refilling. I did bottle sorting at the grocery store and always thought refilling something that had been 'out in the wild' was a questionable practice. People did wrong things with those bottles.
They were sterilized, also, any chipped bottles were discarded. It's better to re-use than to recycle! The glass from the discarded ones was ground up and put into asphalt (yes, glass roads) so also was recycled. I wish more people would use re-usable containers for things like flour, eggs, and sugar and milk (Sounds like I'm making a cake.) But NOOOO we have to have disposable paper or plastic for everything with some nonsensical labels on them with a "bar code" and "nutrition information" and "where it was packed" etc.
I drank Sprite in bottles just like that one you have in '79. It had real sugar in it, no HFCS. I was a freshman in HS and loved Coke, Dr. Pepper and Sprite in bottles. Loved those old dimpled Sprite Bottles. It tasted better in glass bottles over cans or plastic containers. In 2000, I even had a '58 Coca-Cola Upright Vending machine and got bottled Coke from a local store that offered bottles from Mexico with real sugar. Despite drinking real Coke during my youth in the '70's and '80's, today I could not drink this sweet stuff anymore.

I hate that our country puts crap in our drinks and other countries still use natural sugar. Corporate greed. You can still buy versions of some drinks with natural sugar, my grocery store has bottled “Mexican” coke that has sugar instead of corn syrup. I know there’s Mountain Dew Classic that has real sugar. It does taste better imo

Back in the old days, returned bottles weren't just sent to the crusher to be recycled, the good bottles were washed by machines and reused. This machine washing produced the wear lines on the sides of bottles and sometimes the larger 2 or 3 QUART bottles were so weakened that they would explode if bumped.

If you've ever wondered why wine tasters never swallow the product, they simply swish it around in their mouth then politely spit it out into a separate container because if they don't their palate will be coated with the previous wine they tasted prior. There are people who will claim there is a right and a wrong way to do it. If the wine is truly exceptional, swallowing can give you a sense of what drinking a full glass would taste like. Swallowing allows the wine to coat the furthest back part of your palate as well as release additional aromas when exhaling. It also could just be that the wine is too delicious to let it go to waste. In short, bottoms up. Just saying.

Not to be THAT person in the comments- by no means am I a molecular biologist by any stretch, but I am a veterinary nurse and spend a lot of my time behind a microscope and it's one of my favorite things- A lot of those particles seemed to me to be artifacts- from experience, slides and coverslips even right out of the box tend to have debris, dust and oil on them. I always try to wipe them completely clean with a kimwipe if I have time and i'm not rushed. Also kinda wondering why there was all that background pattern from your scope. Aaaand you should look into staining! Granted, I don't know what kind of stains are generally available to the public, but like diff quick stains and/or methylene blue you could totally spot out yeast and bacteria under higher magnifications! Like I said, not trying to be THAT person, but I'm really kinda into these videos

If the abv is above 10% you can keep them for 10 years at least. Its even recommended for some Belgian Trappist Ales that come i around 12% abv

When look in further...some of it is crystalline from the sugars and salts....might be some pulp from lemon and lime

Especially for people like me, who talk very rarely, a 30-second speech feels like a marathon to me, whenever I make TH-cam vids, I have to catch my breath once in a while, a 10 minute video and I almost pass out from speaking lol.

Not to be THAT person in the comments- by no means am I a molecular biologist by any stretch, but I am a veterinary nurse and spend a lot of my time behind a microscope and it's one of my favorite things-
A lot of those particles seemed to me to be artifacts- from experience, slides and coverslips even right out of the box tend to have debris, dust and oil on them. I always try to wipe them completely clean with a kimwipe if I have time and i'm not rushed.
Also kinda wondering why there was all that background pattern from your scope.
Aaaand you should look into staining! Granted, I don't know what kind of stains are generally available to the public, but like diff quick stains and/or methylene blue you could totally spot out yeast and bacteria under higher magnifications!
