Thank u!!! Almost just called road side assistance just now due to dead key fob- didn’t know what to do, almost panicked out here but googled ‘ this email came up- many thanks!!
We just bought one too, and after 3 days have discovered that the driver's door does not lock with the fob key. And if you press the door lock button and close the driver's door, then you cannot unlock the driver's door unless you crawl thru from the passenger's side and use the actual door handle to unlock the door as the door unlock button on the door panel does not work either. Back to the dealer after 3 days. And my Nissan Frontier that I bought new in 2016 and had 42 months never ever gave me a minute of trouble, and I traded it in on the XT5. That being said, the XT5 is awesome in a lot of ways, so just crossing my fingers that GM has improved their quality in recent years.
@@ClemsonTiger75 If you are locking the driver's door on the INSIDE before closing, it overrides the key fob, as it is assumed to be from the inside only. The driver's door clearly needs to be made to respond to the fob though...
@@DashboardSymbols The dealer came and got it today to fix that issue. Left me an XT6 sport which is really nice. I think my son is going to buy the XT6.
Do you recommend we change the battery or have the dealership? I was noticed my key fob wasn't working from a long range then the other day I received the place fob in center console. So I went to Target and bought a battery...but still sometimes it doesn't work and other times it works from far. I also noticed if I hold my phone in the same hand it might be blocking the signal
Ok, a little confused. You got a battery at Target, but didn't put it in? Or u put it in and it has the same symptoms? Most likely the last one, so if true, note that on rare occasions a new battery may be weak. Also, while a phone MAY interfere, if you've always carries things together but only now have an issue, not likely the phone. And the dealer won't do a better job or have a better battery. Hopefully all the contacts are clean...
@@DashboardSymbols Thanks for the response! Lol, yes I installed the battery. The issue that keeps coming up is when I get out of the car and lock it...it doesn't lock sometimes. I have to go stand right next it. I will swap out the battery again.
everytime i made this the thift alarm starts & wont stop until 1 minutes of alarm & it says on the screen theft detected !!! also i replaced new exact battery sometimes it received signals sometimes it stock
This has happened to me about 5 times since we purchased this low mileage pristine used XT5, This is not good at all . Owners with this issue need to get together and file a class action lawsuit . These vehicles are WAY too expensive to be this unreliable . My friend has one just like mine and so far he never had an issue with the no key fob detected problem in fact never changed his coin batteries yet . But he did just have a thermostat replaced in it . I guess it is a major job and it cost him well over 500 dollars to have it replaced . My Batteries are good or the fob wouldn't work after putting it in the little secret pocket in the console . Also both key fobs would not be dead at the exact same time and neither one would open the car every time we had this issue . It has been back to the dealer 3-4 times over this issue. If I had it to do all over I would want my old Cadillac CTS 4 back . I am ready to talk to an attorney ABOUT THIS UNRELIABLE CAR .
A word or two of advice. Talking only the key fobs, when replacing the battery in it, use a clean cloth to wipe it down. Skin oils reduce battery life. Also, the more time spent in the car, the more the battery in the fob is depleted. FYI, the batteries tend to only last a year or so in normal use (don't know the age of the car)...
Thank you. No other vide explained this as well. You saved the day.

Alarm should go away when the car is started. Open the fob again and clean the battery with a cloth for eye glasses...
