And again an impressive video, it's a shame that Idaho is so far away would love to do a tour here.

We had this planned to ride in late July, 12 months of planning a 17 day trip out fro Pennsylvania but we canceled due to the wild fires. Hopefully next year. Wish we could do when you mentioned but Glacier isn’t open in May. Great video and commentary.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully 2022 turns out to be the perfect year for a trip out west. Thanks for watching.

What a great ride! Looking forward to your next trip!
The video gets a little blocky in some places (not sure if your video editor dropped to a lower bitrate or something), but I don't think it gets in the way. Just thought you might be interested.

I shoot, edit and render in 1920 X 1080 at 30p. Looks good on my computer. But for some reason the GoPro sections during motion appear pixilated when playing back on TH-cam. I think YT is dropping the bitrate. I've noticed this problem since starting my channel. Static shots when I'm not riding look fine. There's a lot of changing detail in the motion shots that becomes blurry. I will continue to research for a solution. Thanks for watching and posting the comment.

Thank you for this wonderful video. Hopefully I can also ride this road in the near future. Btw nice looking windscreen! I've been looking for a windshield like this for a while. Where did you purchase it?

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The windscreen was on the bike when I made the purchase. The screen is made by Givi but I don't believe this particularly model is around anymore, discontinued. I've hunted around. Might be able to find one on Ebay. Thanks for watching and posting the comment.

Many thanks! I imagine southern France is very scenic. I've visited Paris and the area around Nancy but never the south part of your country. Thanks for watching.

what a wonderful ride that was - sure is pretty! I ride a 2005 BMW R1150R by the way same color too. We could ride anything, but I guess there is a reason we ride the R1150R, huh? Thanks for taking us along with you on this ride!

We have Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to visit to complete our western US state visits. This looks like a great way to see a couple of them.

The pacific northwest is a big place. Lots of options. Mountains, rivers, lakes, deserts and the pacific ocean coastline. Very diverse country. I love this part of the US. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for posting some great rides. I Was stationed out at Mountain Home AFB from 89-93 and sure miss the place. For the pixel issue in the video at speed, I think you have to upload at resolution greater than 1080 to force TH-cam to use a better codec. This video describes the problem and it looks like TH-cam updated the codec name since the release of the video but it appears it is still the same problem. th-cam.com/video/VyF5dzBASsA/w-d-xo.html from @AusMoto ADV ENDURO
Either way love the videos and can't wait to get up that way on the bike and ride some of these routes.

@@WheelStories Thanks. I'll definitely ping you before I start planning a ride up there. Still looking to do Yellowstone / Beartooth again next year but maybe a month later than this year to let things green up (but not too late to get into smokey conditions with forest fires. I know that's becoming harder and harder to forecast).

Sure thing. Hey I'm interested to know what specs you use for shooting, editing and publishing your videos. The ones I've watched on your channel play back clean on TH-cam. Some of mine, particularly the fast motion GoPro video looks good on my computer then plays back pixilated once uploaded to TH-cam. I'm doing full HD at 1920 x 1080 at 30 frames per. The bitrate, compression, motion... something isn't benefiting my GoPro video, except when I'm stopped, static shots. Then it looks good.

    • @AZGeek520

@@WheelStories Most of my recent videos are shot in 4K, usually 30 fps, and I process and edit at 2160p using FCPX. I usually shoot with white balance set to 5000K and EV -1. Sometimes I shoot in GoPro Flat and color grade in FCPX, but most of the time I shoot in GoPro Color (Protune) but still do some color grading in post. What browser are you using when you notice the pixelation? I was having a similar problem when using Safari which would only play back 1080p and there was lots of pixelation, particularly after transitions. I thought there was a problem with TH-cam (ok, I know there are a lot of problems with TH-cam) but it turned out that switching to Chrome or Firefox as the browser at least allowed for 1440p and 2160p viewing options that resolved any pixelation issues. 1080p on Chrome or Firefox is slightly better than on Firefox but still kind of mushy compared to the higher resolutions. 1080p in Safari (Mac OS Catalina) really sucks but I was told that upgrading to the latest MacOS (Big Sur?) would resolve that TH-cam codex/compression issue. But, I don't want the headaches with incompatible software after an OS update, so I now use Firefox to view. I use Chrome to publish to TH-cam to get whatever benefits being in the family brings to that side of the process. The one thing I don't do anymore is publish to or view TH-cam using Safari. My MacOS version just doesn't play nice with TH-cam.

I've been using Chrome. I will try Firefox. I'm not sure my computer can handle 4K video for editing. I may run a few tests. I edit on an HP Omen gaming computer. Eventually I plan to upgrade to a robust graphics/video editing workstation. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for taking us with you! In a few weeks I’m heading out from home in So Cal to Oregon, but this trip will be mostly northern Sierras, central Oregon, and then over to the coast to Astoria, which I will ride all the way back home. Hopefully zero interstates once I get out of the L.A. area. Really looking forward to getting away for a week! Pretty likely I’ll have to deal with some fires, at least in the Sierras, but hopefully most of them will be out by then. Happy trails!

Sounds like a nice trip. Northern Cal and Oregon offer some terrific roads. Thick smoke in Boise today from fires. Hopefully the skies will clear out in time for your trip. Ride safe.
