Re: spicules. Dr Dray, who I don’t watch super often, did a video about 7-8 months ago on spicules in skincare and she felt they would put someone at a high risk of silica granulomas. She has some references in her video about spicules in skincare as well.

yes the b lab cleansing balm is sooooooo good. It’s a favorite of mine! I also like the numbuzin sunscreen but it does pill on me after a few layers. I have a second tube so i’ll keep testing.

I’m a big fan of the Curel Makeup Cleansing Gel. (Also a balm in a tube). Still prefer the texture & fragrance of Banila Co, but if you want something that travels well and want fragrance-free, Curel slaps!
Loved these reviews! The sunscreens look so tempting, but I already have and love 2 tubes of the Purito soft touch you've recommended.(Btw, the link for the Conditioning milk takes me to the Onion cleansing foam)
I’ve been re-evaluating my upcoming spf favorites video (glad I didn’t film it yet whew), but I will say: I think purito is going to stay my personal favorite. I love (and need!) the barrier boosting aspects! That said, I can see these becoming new favs for those who loved the skin1004 ☺️

Oh, thanks Alice for showing an alternative to the Numbuzin sunscreen! I tried it, and indeed, my skin reacted :/ At first I was a bit confused, it is fragance free, new generation filters, didn't expect to be sensitising. Then I checked the ingredients list, and sow all the plant extracts 😬

I've been slacking with body moisturizer cuz i need it to be quick to apply and spread easily, so the hatomugi conditioning milk seems intriguing.

I feel like the p.calm water barrier moisturizer is very similar to the Numbuzin number 1. They actually also use the exact same filters. I love them both! Totally elevated spf and def the Mary popping of sunscreen. I’ve went through 5 tubes of the p. Calm and just LOVE it. I got o. Calm before numbuzin and had an inkling they were very similar
Yuuup, very similar! I’d say the p.calm feels just a smidge more moisturizing, but I only noticed that when I swatched them side by side!

So funny that you mentioned B lab because I had never really heard or seen much from them. But when I was placing my last yesstyle order I needed a little more for free shipping and I figured you could never have too many cleansers so I tried their hydrating Matcha foaming cleanser. And let me tell you, I cannot get over how impressed I am with this product. Especially considering it was less than nine dollars. It takes the smallest amount to create such a nice lather for my whole face. And I love that it has a greenish of the high level of Matcha they add.

They have a moisturizer too, unfortunately it seems it's not available everywhere because I have not seen a single review of it.
OMG, when you said spicules I was like, "Wait, I'm pretty sure I've heard about this before." Of course Dr Dray did a video several months ago about them re: tik tok. I believe CVS and maybe Walmart have the cotton pads with finger pockets in them (based on another channel I watch).

Thanks for reviewing by reneddle. I do have sensitive acne prone skin. I did use it with retinal & vitamins c. But I have an interval of one hour after my night routine before I end it with retinal. Is ok so far. But really I don’t enjoy the experience but I think my skin does become softer.

I use the Naturie milk in the shower. I put it in a fine mist spray bottle and spray myself just before I get out of the shower. My skin is horribly dry so I’m the summer it’s nice and light. In the winter it’s great under something heavier. I also sometimes shave my legs with it. I really love it but any of these lightweight “skin milks” from Korea or Japan work well. I’m usually looking for whichever is cheapest.
This is a little random but I don’t know anyone else will understand my excitement like you would. I cannot wait to try C-beauty skincare! I’m going to raid anywhere that sells skincare and makeup when I visit China (finally! It’s been 4 years!). There’s so little about Chinese skincare on the English speaking side of the Internet. I’ve basically only read industry-wide business reports hahahahaha.
Also you love escape rooms! I love them too and Chinese ones are fricken next level insane. For example, there’s one where you’re basically in an ice cavern for a big portion if not the entire time. It’s not fake icicles and icy interiors that are super realistic. It’s real fricken ice and the temperature is kept at -13 Celsius. There’s another one where you spent the entire time in water. There are also ones with giant spaces that take 2-5 hours. I’m most excited about one that’s more of an immersive theater where you live in an “ancient town” for two nights that is completely built for the experience. Think Galactic Starcruiser but literally everyone you meet is in character, including the 400 other players, and your actions actually does affect the plot. There are also more traditionally puzzle focused ones, but you have to have a basic understanding of chemistry and high school level math. There are times where I’m like “Does the average young adult in China know about this specific chemical reaction??? Or know enough to figure it out?”.
WHAAAT that sounds so fun omg, I was actual thinking Galactic Starcruiser before you said it 🤣 (hopefully without the exorbitant price point, you did that one to yourself Disney).

It takes longer to blend and yeah, you know with me having sensitive skin I try to minimize the amount of ingredients in one singular product because it’s pretty much a numbers game at that point. Ahh I’m so glad you love the Numbuzin number one toner! I knew you would when I recommended it to you and I’m glad I was right :)

I’m here for the Tinosorb M-free sunscreens! It’s amazing how fast both of these are to apply. I looked at my timer in the editor and both took under a minute for the WHOLE APPLICATION (meanwhile my mineral sunscreen used to take about 5 minutes of buffing. How’d we ever do it lol) yuuup I love that toner 😁
@@AliceintheRabbitHoleyes please, we need more!! I personally love the skin aqua sunscreens! but I definitely get a white cast until I air it out for a minute and then it disappears without me having to rub anymore.
But but Tinosorb M-free is supposed to be the holy grail in preventing sunspots! I tested mineral (US) only last summer and it was a disaster! I got all sorts of new hyperpigmentation the 4 (!) TCA peels could not remove over last winter! This summer I was EU only with tinosorb and no new sunspots!!! I did find that switching my Vit C to geek&gorgeous and switching to their retinol (while paired with azelaic & tranexamic Cos de BAHA) lighted the new spots, most dramatically on my hands. All Asian SPF have not been as successful as the EU brands in preventing new hyperpigmentation….
I prefer scented cleansers as well, I'd love to try an AB scented balm cleanser series like Farmacy has. 😊
I am currently really enjoying the Heimish mandarin cleansing balm!
I go to town with the reedle shot. I rub it in for 30 seconds and rub more when layering hydration and creams on top. No lasting irritation or sting. Better than chem exfoliating for me.

Hmm, tough call. I think I personally still like Purito on my dry skin (feels more moisturizing), but I’m very impressed by how lightweight these are and how fast they blend. I think those who have skin1004 as an HG might prefer these! (Sorry skin1004, it was a good run!)
Granted, we are really at the point where there are a HUGE number of good Asian sunscreens on the market!
Their is info on that VT 100 on the Amazon site about how and when to use it in the info part. I didn't see anything on the other sites about the actual product. I am kinda intrigued by it cause I use the Revive EGF serum . I also looked up the ingredients list and it looked pretty good but I'm confused on what the 100 300 and 700 differences what is one daily and the others a special occasion or what you work up too.
I use the Natutie hatomugi skin conditioner in a spray bottle for my body, then spray my glycolic acid followed by moisturizer. It’s amazing sooo inexpensive 500ml. Great video.
Is yours a more watery but milky texture? The one Alice showed seems a lot thicker and more like a lotion than the one I got. I got the big 500ml bottle too. Lovely gentle and moisturising formula.
There’s the milk (what I bought) and the skin conditioner (which is more of a toner). It’s a bit confusing as the only difference in their name is the milk part 😅

Seeing the numbuzin toner got me so excited !! The mix of heart leaf cica AND lotus !??? I need it !! I am worried about that hyacinth tho, do you know anything about that ingredient? From google it looks like it could potentially be a fragrance ingredient but I’m not sure if it could be irritating.
Yep, that’s one of the unspoken problems with a lot of extracts! My skin seems to get along with it, and if it helps, there’s not much smell to the product (which I take as a bit of a predictor of how much hyacinth is in it 👀)
What are your thoughts on Bakuchiol? Have you tried Allies of Skin products?
Hey Alice! What's your favorite daytime moisturizer right now? I'm deciding what I want to try next and I have a few contenders: dear klairs midnight blue calming cream, isntree mugwort cream, torriden water cream, or may & may blackberry moisturizer.
Ooh all good choices. Do you want more or less moisturizing? And calming or antioxidant rich?

Not Torriden then because it’s the lightest option.
Klairs might be your best bet, but I’ll admit to you that I used it as a night moisturizer (I struggle to get past thinking blue=night lol!) It is great for calming though
As for Isntree, I plowed through 2 tubes of it - loved it, just make sure you do well with mugwort. I’d say it’s less calming and more subtle brightening.
And I also love the Mary & May, which feels surprisingly nourishing (gotta love the added ceramides) but it’s one con is the jar. I’m slower with it as I gotta take the time to find a scoop!

I didn't care for the numbuzin no1 tone. I think I need the big guns when it comes to calming my skin between cystic enflamatory acne and 0.3% adapalene/benzoyl peroxide gell 💀 it's definitely a nicely hydrating toner tho

The Nambuzin sunscreen is great but it's still too shiny for someone with really oily skin. The haruharu one is better for oily people cause it's more matte but even so I got told by my students that I looked way too shiny. I guess I'll continue sticking to my Supergoop matte screen while I continue the hunt for my ideal sunscreen that looks great under makeup.
Thanks for mentioning that - it makes sense to me. I had a funny story with the Haruharu (didn’t like it at first; realized it works best over lightweight moisturizers ie what oily skin would choose!)
I also had the same experience with the Numbuzin sunscreen. It made me shiny. Less than an hour after I apply it, I’ll see beads of oil on my face. I do, however, LOVE the way it feels and applies. I’ll wear this when I know I’m staying in for the day until I use up the rest of the tube.

Do you mean the probio cica? I like it! I tend to use an occlusive over it, but I could see it working on its own for oily skin types (as a night cream most likely)

Also I’m kinda interested in the onion cleanser, but I’ve tried the onion toner and allthough I didn’t dislike it , it really just doesn’t seem to do anything for my skin. It might be doing that subtle difference where you don’t notice until you stop using it ? Idk I’m not sure. Don’t think I’m gonna repurchase. I’m definitely going to try the onion sunscreen tho because I know onion technically does have its list of benefits. & the sunscreen just looks really nice
If you have some of the toner left still, try soaking it in cotton rounds and leaving it on for a few minutes. I feel like this method brings out the best of these calming toners, so one way or another, you’ll know if it’s for you! ☺️

Yuuup. I see same-day results on any areas of inflammation when I do this.
Granted, it’s not just with Isntree’s toner but also Anua, this Numbuzin 1 toner, etc. I figured it out as a consequence of my kombucha face-off a few months ago: this method + a good, calming toner = incredible results!
Hey Alice i want to grt your professional opinion on something, what do you think about using body sunscreens on your face? Some r incredibly lightweight
It’s kind of hard to answer this as a sweeping statement! But I’ve noticed many - if not most - body sunscreens also do say they are safe for the face. If they don’t say it, it means it hasn’t been tested on the face (facial skin can be more reactive, so I would tread cautiously with the scented options, as an example)

DRMTLGY, makes the Needle-less Serum. Mostly peptides and ceramides. No spicules. But it does absorb very well. 😂😜

* Did u try the oil jelly cleanser in a tube from Isntree the chestnut one idk but No BS beauty raves about it . I haven't tried it yet. I did try Lisa Eldridge balm in a tube and it's really nice but super expensive it can be used as a mask and all kind of ways it has a nice ingredients list . It somewhat reminds me of the Bioscionce squalane cleansing jelly .

Hi Alice I was wondering what are your idea on the ingredients Methylparaben or paraben in skincare in general? Are u concerned should we be concern? I try to search for the safety of this ingredient but the debate is so unclear. I like to ask for your scientific expertise. I love the Hatomugi and love to continual using it but unfortunately Methylparaben is in the ingredients list. When I last check most J beauty products have some kind of paraben in them. I will be travelling to Japan at the end of the yr and hopping to stock up some toners.thank you in advance have a wonderful day
I like to see parabens! They’re very effective preservatives that require a very small amount in a product (much less than, say, phenoxyethanol)
That said, I don’t like to judge those who do avoid parabens as I think everyone should make their own decisions for their own skin. ultimately, both the clean beauty world and …whatever the opposite of that is lol…both want effective, safe products! But I guess I do wish there was a bit more discussion on how we arrive at decisions on safe usage levels. It concerns me that while we have great data on parabens (and a retracted study that sounded alarms), I sometimes see newer preservatives/preservative blends that we don’t have much data at all 😕

For acne as a whole:
1. Adapalene!!
2. Either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. You might need one and not the other, as both are strong
3. An otherwise calming routine!! Focus on bifida, cica actives, etc, and always sunscreen ☺️

I really want to tell you the Ziip has been amazing for my acne, but I also have to take a step back and say: I use a lot of other …stuff lol… with it lol. But for the sake of context, 3x/week I do the nanocurrent session. It’s a bit time consuming (it’s 12-14 minutes I think?), but I feel it does something for my skin - so I’m over here using that device over 30m a week, every week!
