    I knew the reason my fan was coming on even when cold was because of the AC high pressure switch. I liked how you explained to follow the lines. Thanks for the great information!!!

    My FLD has fan clutch so fan all the time is locked up and operated by ecm, water temperature sensor and AC high pressure sensor, I have manual switch on my lower dash as well. Watertemp sensor and funclutch solenoid (air solenoid) both are normally closed, all work great. On idling and AC on I'm always flip that manual switch because it's been start/stop the fan every 1 minutes or even less that not good for clutch which start spinning from 0 to 500 or whatever. Friend of mine told me bigger AC condenser will solve it but I have no reason to change it. God bless you old man and stay safe out there. Peace out

      A bigger compressor will not fix it, I think you have a problem with a sensor/ connection, or wiring problem. Good idea to leave the fan on until you get it fixed. Thanks for watching.

    I drove a freightliner day cab with that exact series motor . A 60 series . It was a 400hp. I drove the shit out of that little truck. Tri state. All four seasons. I loved that little truck . Ufourtuonyley for me and the truck the owner of the truck was not big on maintenance. Coming out of Indy on my way back to Chicago it ate a valve and locked up. I heard it and shut the motor off. My POS boss told me to try and make it back home lol. I told him, the motor is DONE. Anyhow, I got about 200 yards and the motor locked up. The truck ended up sitting in the yard. Too bad, I liked that little truck

    • @57bagre
      @57bagre  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Freon shouldn't come out, maybe just a little when you start to loosen the switch. There is a schrader valve in the port where the switch goes, if somebody took it out then you need to evacuate the system and replace the schrader valve to change the switch.

    If the ac was not on I dont think that was the issue. ECM ground ambient air temperature to high multiple things can cause the fan to come on and go off

    • @57bagre
      @57bagre  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you unplug the high pressure switch the fan will stay on regardless if the a/c is on or off. The switch was 22 years old and could be getting a weak contact inside, it's a cheap and easy process of elimination place to start.

      Do you have a manual fan switch on your dash? Check that it's off, then check the fuse for that circuit (might be called clutch fan). I went thru that years ago, found out it was the hot wire going to the fan clutch actuator had rubbed against a lift ear and was grounding intermittently, blew the fuse. My clutch fan was a fail-safe engaged, so you wouldn't overheat the motor, but for the week or so before I got it sorted out, she chewed through a lot of extra fuel turning that big windmill up front.

    Run the ohm's on the coolant, oil, fuel, air temp sensors. On your year all go to the Ecm. Do you know your air clutch Brand name it and is your Air Valve normal open, or closed for the fan to engage. Fans are air engage spring disengage, or spring engaged and air disengaged.

    • @stanpatterson5033
      @stanpatterson5033 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      One that I had experience with (was a Horton) was spring-engage, air-disengage. If you fired up the truck with an empty air system, the fan would turn until air pressure came up to disengage. My problem revolved around a hot wire that had rubbed thru and was grounding on a engine lift hook or something, blowing the fuse, causing the fan to be permanently engaged with no control. Of course the first fuse that was replaced, held for about 25 miles before the short under the hood happened again. Finally figured it out, and used some wire loom to help shield it from rubbing and reoccurring, but man, did that sucker chew through fuel with the fan always on. Failsafe, better to use more fuel with fan failed engaged, than to fail disengaged and overheat when pulling hard up some mountain somewhere...

  • @Addddam21

    So earlier today opened the hood to check that fan clutch issue I was having. So I touched the wires on top for the ac compressor, the fan suddenly turn on and stayed on, turned off the truck hoping it will turn off that didn’t work, turned the key to the on position only noticed on the dash the fan light is on, anyways I just shut my truck off and went to sleep. Once I woke up I turned the truck on at idle the fan will kick on and off, once I started driving the fan stayed on, got to highway speed it started kick on and then kick off for like 5 seconds then kick back on again. Then after 20 miles it kicked off on for like 30 miles but whenever there is a uphill or if I throttle it hard the fan kicks on, so right now the fan is off but whenever a uphill or whenever the truck has to throttle it’s self hard to stay at cruise speed the fan kicks on then turns off after that. Yeah I know kinda confusing and weird. Remember ac is off the whole time, temperature is at 180. Does anyone experienced this before and where should I look
